Hiya Maker-friend! Thanks for stopping by 😀 I understand that viewers are noticing a haze on my last few videos. I think a filter I added to reduce visual "noise" is the culprit. I'm going to remove it next time I film and see if that's better. Please don't be shy about letting me know if there's any watchability issue with my videos - I read every comment and have made many corrections based on viewers' input. I hope you enjoy this video and that I'll see you again next week!
I Nicole. Love your videos. I would say that the videos look washed out. BTW, when you put a thumbnail image in the corner, the thumbnail is not washed out. Just your live video. Hope this helps. Say hi to Oscar for me. 😊
Mmmmmmmalabrigo. 🤤 Fun video! Wouldn't it be fun to make the Christmas tree as a gift for a knitter/crocheter and "decorate" it with notions like festive stitch markers? Oh, and Oscar's not wrong, a cashmere dog bed would be a quick knit! 🤣
Crochet baskets are fantastic gifts! Your’s look great! I’ve sometimes used several strands of worsted and/or bulky, or do Navajo plying, in place of super bulky.
Just a tip for an inexpensive yarn option for all these bulky rovings. Herrschners sells mill ends of roving wool. When it's on sale it's a worthwhile buy. I overdye them if I want a darker gradient and if held double it's good for quite a few of the projects that you offered.
Thanks for this video! After watching it, I’ve made 8 Starlight baskets for Christmas gifts! I don’t ever buy super bulky, so this has been all stash busting holding various weights together. Win-win!! Thanks for the inspiration!
Those were some great ideas, and I am tempted to make the Break Mitts and maybe the crocheted basket (I like Toni L's patterns a lot). You are such a proficient maker, you can certainly whip up more of the items and give away these if you need presents for people 😄 (Ha!)
I can see myself making lots of mitts in the very near future! The color way you used on your Break Mitts-and the way it’s stitched-reminds me of the stained glass work on a Tiffany lamp. Love it!
Terrific idea for this time of year. The Perky Little Hat will be on my needles next using Heidi Wulfraat's "Big Squeezy" bulky single ply. This gorgeous yarn makes the best gift hats and this pattern will look exceptional knitted up in it. Thanks so much for this episode and every episode you do Nicole!
Hi Nicole. I enjoy your videos they are always lighted hearted. We are Island Neighbors. I live on Orcas Island! Pretty dang close in the scheme of things! Thank you for the joy you bring to all of us-especially knitters! 🙏 Rosie
I have to say a huge thank you for the bracelet idea! I’ve pulled it up on Ravelry and will be making many gradients for my loved ones this holiday season!
Love the suggestions! I think the fox fingerless mitts might be my favorite but they're all great. This will be my first holiday knitting for others and I'm excited.
Such a great selection of uncommon patterns. Fun to see! The second showing I’ve seen of the bangles have caught my attention. I used to make a lot of beaded jewelry once upon a time and these look like a great stashbuster. Thank you!
you had me giggling along with you today, and inspired me to subscribe. Greetings from the Kitsap Peninsula, WA. I'm an experienced crocheter and newish knitter.. I could do that tree in an hour, but none of these knits are quick for me yet lol!
thanks for sharing! ❤ The slippers look like an interesting knit. I cant afford Rasta though. I may have a substitute on hand. Stash dive time!!!! So fun!
I have made the hat and I struggle with having ‘holes(YO)’ between the K2T’s. I live in New England, like you in Canada, and can’t have a hat to keep our heads warm with holes in it. How do you compensate for that? Have you worn your hat? Thank you!
Yup. There are definitely holes. It's not a problem for me personally because my head gets too hot anyway, but I can see how in some weather, it would be a problem. I think you could possibly twist that YO on the next round to close up the holes, but I'd have to knit it again to test that out. Try the Great Northern Hat by Faye Kennington instead. It's also super bulky, equally as cute, and no holes! 😜
Oh gift knits..... I love them. I want to make all of them for every person I meet. But am a busy mom and slowish knitter..... and I always wait til the last min isn't long enough and then if I have 2 last mins I find the right item and have all the wrong yarn
Enjoy your knitting, don't add gift stress to your list of things to do. Everything has its time and the knitting time will happen, I promise. Raising our kids is the most important and precious use of our love and time. ❤
I had one recommended to me called Brimming. I haven't tried it yet though, so can't attest to it's knit-ability. If you try it, let me know how it goes! 😊
I like to sew those suede soles with the pre-punched holes in them to the bottom of slippers. Other methods I've tried of applying puff paint or other paint-on non slip coatings have failed miserably. 😋
@@Knicoleknitsmy Mom has made well over 200 pair of knit slippers and uses the Tulip brand dimensional fabric paint on the bottom with no problems. She makes several generous dime sized circles across the toe pad and heels and works the paint into the yarn while applying for good staying power.
All great projects! But, on a different topic, your most recent video about your "wrapover" techniques and now this video seem to have a white-look? in other words, as if there's a filter of some sort. Just wondering. Keep the awesome videos going!
I’m noticing this phenomenon too. It’s messing with my eyes. I’m colorblind so it’s making it more difficult for me to see the colors. I absolutely adore this channel and have been watching everything. ❤❤❤
You're not the first to mention this. I started using a "noise-reduction" filter and that might be the culrpit. I'll take it off for the next video and see if that fixes the issue. 😋
I agree….slightly ‘milky’ look to the video. Love the selection of projects and thank you for sharing them with us all. Particularly like the crochet basket 😁
My daughter just called me to tell me not to make scarves and hats for the grandkids this year. I told he I wasn't planning on it. Seems none of them wear scarves and the hats don't fit the kids anymore🤔.
It can be hard to gift handmade items. One of my knitting groups has a table at a craft sale every year. The fingerless mitts have been the big sellers lately...other knits, not so much. 😋
As hard as it is I would rather know my knits aren't being worn. I am trying to only knit for those who eagerly await my creations. Maybe they would like stuffies (plush toys) or those hockey sack sort-of balls... or bigger hats? Or..... find your knit worthy people including yourself!
@@Jerseymimi16 I made stuffed animals and they went over spectacularly. I even had 2 adults who wanted one! They were fun to make, and sharpened my stagnant knitting skills.

I Nicole. Love your videos. I would say that the videos look washed out. BTW, when you put a thumbnail image in the corner, the thumbnail is not washed out. Just your live video. Hope this helps. Say hi to Oscar for me.

Oh, maybe it is...🤔
About the wool ease! The colorful, variegated skeins are all 87yds. The solid colorways are 106yds!
Good to know! Thanks for sharing that!
Oh Nicole, you rebel! "If the thumb intimidates you, leave it off" Thanks for the great ideas!
😘
The bangles are fun. I wear mine on top of wrist warmers
Wow showed lots of great patterns! The perky hat looked great on you. It was a fun podcast. Thank you. We have a lot of really snow
I appreciate the warning for our hands, your thoughts on our budgets and also adding in crochet…brilliant.
I think crochet and knit are a great team!

Yes! I should have mentioned Navajo plying - it's one of my favorite stash busting techniques 😃
These are great ideas! I love the slippers, will have to make some for guests.
I ❤the Perky Little Hat pattern. I've made a few with Rasta and will be making more.

Whoo hoo! Super bulky baskets for the win 😃
The bangles, if sewn together would make an interesting cuff at the end of a sleeve!
I like the way you think! 😋
Another great video! We must be twins! I too hate quick knits for the same reasons…so I saved this video for future knitting 😊
Those were some great ideas, and I am tempted to make the Break Mitts and maybe the crocheted basket (I like Toni L's patterns a lot). You are such a proficient maker, you can certainly whip up more of the items and give away these if you need presents for people 😄 (Ha!)

Stained glass is a perfect way to describe the colorway! 💖
Try the Nalu mitts. It’s a free pattern Just a 2-3 day project Thanks for your suggestion. I love the hat.
Yes! That's a lovely pattern that I've had in my library for years. It does look like a relatively quick knit. Thanks for bringing it forward! 😊

Thank you for such a fun and informative video! I was laughing while watching. 😂
You're welcome! Crafting is definitely more fun with a little chuckle 😉
This was a great round up, thank you! And loved to see two of Faye's patterns - she's a great person and great designer!

I actually had a few of these favorited on Ravelry. 👍 Gonna share this video. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing this lovely collection. ❤

Fantastic !!
Love some of these for the stash busting effect too. I HAVE to try those bangles for sure. It could match an outfit!
The bangles were SO FUN. I'm definitely planning to do more 😃
Love them all! Thank you!

Definitely making the hat and the fox mittens! Super cute!!
Yay!
I’ve been looking for a slipper pattern! I have some Rasta too, thank you!
Thank you for this video. It is VERY helpful.

Lion Brand Thick and Quick would be a great substitute for the Rasta.

@ I have found the free pattern for Brimming and will give it a try after I do the Musselburgh. Thanks for your help.
How do I make slippers that don’t slip on hard surfaces?
