Hey guys, today we're taking a look at the P-51H-5NA Mustang in this realistic review. A plane we have all been waiting for, and that i've personally been looking forwards to for years. I've hardly even been able to fly at all the past few days because _very_ *FEW* people are flying Axis! i am literally one of the only people flying the G.55 Serie 1 right now LOL.... so i played a couple battles yesterday but since i've been sick... i've not flown so much just this week.
You should take this out in tank RB. Show us some clear skies :)
I agree with you jengar about the problem of the f-84g... i mean is ok that perform better because is a late version of the plane but his br is too low make it him the axis seal clubber and for prop planes is really annoing, i also suffer from that fact when i unlock the 51H on tuesday i fly 13 matches the last 3 matches i get in madman mode :/ and i said things on chat that where very gross

When I saw this thing show up in the tech tree, I was worried how it might not hold up to my expectations (not like I'll be getting there within the next 5 years anyway)

yes, the performance is great, its just the current br set up with some jets makes this not as enjoyable as it could have been.
Currently with the right pilot this plane has the potential to be nasty...definitely a worthy advisory under the right control. Altitude is your friend + patience and selective targeting.

mainly the F-84G thats been the problem. I've been unlucky with the amount of matches where i had 3-4 of those in the opposing team.
Gaijin needs to era lock. Separate early war, mid war, and cold war era tanks and planes so that you aren't facing vehicles that are 10 or 20 years ahead of yours. Then readjust the BRs to reflect what those tanks and planes will face within their eras.

Usually the P51 flaps can support 650KMH max speed in all models including the first one, 3.7 BR!
i didnt know that about the lower versions, but its indeed insane ;)
Just researched it and bought it last night and with that 5 day grind I'm burnt out now and skeeered to fly it out and get smoked haha, thanks jengar you make it look easy.

I think the F84G is simply too fast and I say this as its pilot. Honestly it feels very safe, nothing is able to catch you...
true that. 8.0 is possible if they create a 9.3 br for the top tier 9.0 jets :)
Fantastic like you said! I'm really starting to enjoy the P 51s. Got my 100th kill in one today. I'm getting closer towards my first jet and jet combat. I'm not looking forward to it at all. I've heard things like a well flown jet is unbeatable by any prop. So even though I would love to get this plane as it is a P 51, I'm nervous about the painful grind and jets! Wish there was a way where these super props just fought other super props!
1 well flown jet is unbeatable by any prop. Well to bo honest it depends on the jet and the prop but that is mostly true
2 if you wanted to face super prop vs super prop try going to br 4.3 planes, they are pretty powerful.
3 What I find to be the best way to grind for jets is try to get control over 1 area that has triple a and artillery and then when there are little to no enemies in the area kill as much AAA and artillery.

Canadian61 thanks man. Yeah I really enjoy tier 3 and tier 4 combat. The game is not too grindy and the combat is enjoyable and balanced. I'm just worried about how grindy and frustrating it'll get the higher you go. I talismanned my D 30 so I'm pretty sure I'll get the P 80 soon. Is that a good jet to start things off with you think?

The p-80 is easily the best starter jet for america and I highly reccomend you dont look at games as a way to get rp but instead of a game that you need to win. You want the mentality of "I am gonna win this game" instead of the horrible mentality of "I need to get lots of rp this game". You would be really surprised on how effective that is.
Another thing is keeping a good sportsmanship ever, I used to be toxic but I changed my ways and now I actually get 3x rp, no joke.

Canadian61 completely agree with you. I always play fighters in Air RB and I always look to kill as many players as possible and win the game. I never carry ordinance, unless I need to at the end of the game. Even if I fly out a ground attacker, my focus is to get plane kills so I only fly ones that are capable of doing so, like a A 36. I wish more Allied players would play like this. I hate being in a team half full of wyverns that just ground strike and get shot down. Honestly i play mostly for the fun of dogfighting enemies, not for the grind. Otherwise I would have probably gotten jets a long time ago. Even if I get the P 80 I might not fly it till I probably get the bearcat and experience some jet combat first.

Hey Jengar, could you revisit this plane? Not only is the F-84G now 7.7, the P-51H is lowered to 6.3 so it's quite a bit better than it used to be.

Man I flew a P-47D-28 yesterday and I was at 7k and a P-63 and a 109 were still performing perfectly up there and destroyed me
also two good planes on altitude. Always difficult a 1 vs 2.
@@jengar6258 Well they looked like they knew what they were doing, also I think I was in your game yesterday when you were flying the IL-2. I was Firebolt 260 and I was the last P-38G alive
I agree, props really suffer when facing jets like the F-84 that are too fast for props. Early 262s and whatnot are more reasonable. I've had a match in my F8F-1B where my team was pretty much all F8Fs and Spits, and the enemy team had at least 4 F-84Gs that I counted. It was very handicapped.
Yeah, with 2 or 3 F-84 pilots that know what their doing, these matches are totally lobsided.

After playing (and doing well) in AB for so long, I jumped back in realistic at too high br. Climb for ten minutes, just to get waxed. I'm planning to drop back to the lower levels and slowly work my way up.

the p51-h has great top speed and great acceleration but when fighting jets the spits and their better maneuverability are the better plane. jets like the me 262, mig 9L, f-84g make a living at feasting on props that try to fight in the vertical and/or try to out run jets.

Getting uptiered sucks so bad. Last night, in 5 out of 6 matches with my unspaded F-82, I was low BR. BR matters.

Just took a look and in AB the F84B has a BR of 6.7 (manic laughter).
At this point in time of War Thunder Gajin is just plain incompetent. Props with 700km/h topspeed against Jets with 920km/h top speed, same BR. Yeah right.
It makes no sense to fly anything above BR 5.3 to me.

the f84g is a problem for everything at br7 and below. its a br8 jet all day
revamp of tier V br's is nessesary, they should create a 9.3 class for the top tier jets, then the f84g can go to 8.0
Nice plane! In sim I guess it will do ok against other top props. Still I think maybe the br should be 6.3.

yep a bad time with f84 is also happened with me also. they farming the p51h stocks plane. its so frustrated. we can do anything with them. gaijin make a big mistake to put 6.7 BR bout this plane.

F-84G is more of a joke than the Meteor F.4 LW and F2H-2 at 7.3.
its becomming a problem with more jets getting 6.3-6.7 br. gaijin really has to look at tier V. put the f-84G at 8.0, but then also put the top tier 9.0's to 9.3.
P51h is good at its current br. Look at Japan with most of there planes at 6.0 6.3 they fight f84s all the time.
your right lower br would just be op it has to be 6.7 and other planes have to fight higer tier enemys too and are worse than this plane

If you keep playing the US Fighters Jengar the US plane stats will shift dramatically LOL. Nice job on the review. I still like the D9 and wish Gaijin would unfuck the elevator and give it it's actual performance. Balance I guess....I call BS lol. One grumped FW 190 pilot.

Nice video :-) Yeah Italian F-84 is the worst opponent for P-51H, but I think it´s fair.I remember times when I flew against US F-84 in FW-190 D-13 and that D-13 can´t reach same speed in dive like this P-51H or Spits Mk.22 and 24. This P-51H needs lower BR, but german planes like TA-152C and H or FW-190 D-12 and 13 can´t handle with these planes, because they need remake their engines and WEP devices MW50 and GM1 in WT system, because they are very slow against their opponents than P-51H can get lower BR.
true, chenging things to tear these planes apart will have ripples in the whole br system. They need a new system maybe ;)
I can´t imagine fly in TA-152 or FW-190 D-12 against this P-51H. How I said german fighter planes on BR 5.3 - 5.7 need remake their engines, because they are very slow when you compare them with planes like Spit.24 these planes are just easy prey. However TA-152 supposed to be very fast planes, but here in WT it´s not it :-(

I've seeing a lot of people crazy with this BR. Some reviewers just gave up : impossible to have fun against Korea war era jets.

Trouble is with putting props up TOO much against jets is that it puts an awful lot of people (like me) off having fun with it!

It's why I don't really like Tier 4's in props to play with. I love the planes and all that comes with them but then like you say, you are pretty much guaranteed to come up against jets of one sort or another and BOOM!, your game's done. The F7F was a prime example for me. When it first came into game I got it pretty much straight away and then the tier systems were messed around with 'to lower waiting times' and such and all of a sudden you were in a game with 50% of the opposition in planes that could go half as fast again so the plane was left in a position where it was like taking an I-15bis into a 3.7 game!!
yeah, it can definitely be frustrating ;) its also a challenge though. Although it happend so often in the p-51H that i got a bit tired of it ;)

HaHa Soarin_Thunder in a 51! I think they'll have to tweak the 84G a bit honestly. A BR change as you suggested or slow it down a bit. Something will need to be done.

P-51 H can face anything except the jets ;)
It's just not fun to fly for me. It can compete with mk24 in the 7 "good" wep minutes, but then again it's annoying to fight vs jets.
well, especially/specifically the F-84G in my opinion. im parking in the garage for the foreseeable future untill this is solved in some way. there's always the d-30 if i feel like flying a mustang!

Universal will always be best, least sparks, and best combo of fire chance and damage.
Universal if you like tracers, stealth if you don't =)
Hmm i generally find that ground targets do more damage as universal. (it shoots of more wings and seems to set more fires, for me it sparks less too. Stealth is a good choice if you don't need the tracers but it feels weaker as ground targets).
Perhaps you should wait for few weeks until the hype is over and make a new video about this plane? But by then almost all of your team mates would 'sweeping' the AAs. 😹
On a site note P51 is a very versatile aircraft that some air force still fly it up until 80's. My country's use them from early 50's (your country passed them down after the round table conference in 1949) up until early 70's when they used as COIN. Hell, it's the only type of aircraft that was ever shot down an enemy aircraft (an A-26 invader flown by a CIA pilot) by my country's air force, despite operating more advanced fighter such as MIG -15, MIG-17, MIG-21, and now F-16 and Su-27/30.😬

The ones he mentioned and many other american planes still fit that criteria perfectly as long as you aren't terrible at the game.
Also, Japan has no superprops, only the Ki-83 comes close but that isn't quite maneuverable.

Meanwhile nobody remembers how F-84B faced and still faces e.g. N1K2s, J7Ws... Ki-83s... and clubs them too...
Why? Because community believes in bias.. that american tech tree is bad, 50 cals are bad... everything is bad.
As long as F-84B is 7.0, F-84G should stay 7.3 - none of those jets should see props.
Gaijin put F-84G that low because they expected people to play it similar to F-84B (which is bad - decent for american team standards)
P-51H is 1st american new added aircraft that has correct BR.
If we look at previous additions....
P-47N - is 4.7 > should be min 5.3
P-51D-5 - is 4.3 > should be 5.0
P-51D-30 - is 4.7 > should be 5.3
F-82 - is 5.0 > should be 6.0
we come into the minusses of the br system like this, it expands the more we talk about it. if the F-84G goes to 8.0, i do think a 9.3 br for the top tier jets should be created, also to make more of the 8.0's more viable.
I was arguing with a friend about the scene in Red Tails where P-51s shoot down Me262s he kept saying " p51 is so good ya know how many me262s were shot down by p51s " and I was like " me262 is a jet its far better than p51" I even showed him the max speed of both the Me and the P51 and I kept saying " Ha me262 is faster meaning is better suck it" and now I see you shooting down an Me with a P51 and im like ".....shit.....really that just happened.....?"
Mike P the 262 is faster as most p-51s especially the D model which is by far the most produced one. The difference is a lot smaller with the P-51H. Also later in the War the P-51 would just wait for the 262s to slow down for landing or take off. Then they would strike, leaving the 262 without a chance to fight back.

The huge majority of me262's that were shot down in ww2 were shot down taking off or landing, or strafed at the runway. Only a very small number were shot in combat high up. They were more or less untouchable, and the luftwaffe reigned again for a short time, while the allies conceived a plan to deal with them in some way, which basicly was to have fighters above airfields known to operate the me262, and bring them down as they came in to land, or when they took off.
Nop F84G spam is real bro but WTF can we do for now. Keep alt and pley as a team that is the key. I em pleying with team of 2 to 4 sq mates and in that situation is ok to face that formula but when team is full of "no team work for me" morons then game over is inevitable.

One problem I had with this video, Jengar, is what you said in the chat on the game where the Arado J'd out after bombing the mini base. He was the unarmed Arado 234 and thus, had no way to defend himself with guns. You and your ally in the area were more maneuverable and were faster than him. The only way he *MIGHT'VE* defended himself would be to fly evasively to make you both miss shots, but that would be unlikely. I think he did the right choice in J'ing out and not trying to run for 30+ minutes for the game to end, saving everyone time, SL and RP.
I'm not hating on you, but what you said was petty, given the circumstances.
What i said was said with the larger j-ing out problem in mind. It's a mentality. I'm not suggesting that he should have run, what he should have done is let my ally that was very close to him, shoot him and get the kill. This might have taken 30 seconds longer then j-ing out. Too many ppl are encouraged by fastest way to grind video's to j-out after a bombing run. It is not okay, its never okay. I see too many matches where my team get 5-7 kills but all 12 opponents are dead. meaning 5-7 ppl j-ed out. We need to get rid of this mentality, because its costing everyone half of the possible sl and rp we could have earned. It's making the grind much longer for all fighter and attacker pilots. So i will always make a comment if im sure that someone j-ed out. and im willing to discuss with them. because this is one of the things that has the potential to loose WT a lot of players.
I understand what you're saying, and it does need to stop. From my point of view though, the in-game chat comment was aimed at the player, and not the community as a whole. Sorry if I'm making no bit of sense, I'm in no way, shape, or form able to effectively explaining things.
No matter what though, I'm not trying to argue over rights and wrongs, it just rubbed me the wrong way.

Michiel Bijlsma I know and I love the d13 but the mk22 and mk 24 climb and turn better and the p51 H climbs better and the have better acceleration at lower alt (under 6000 meters) where combat takes place.
The spam of those things will make it so underperforming props such as the 109 and 190 at 5.3 don't stand a chance, because that is what anyone will play.
f-84G to 8.0 might actually be the simpelest answer. In that case the top tier jets need to go to a 9.3 br i feel though.
The most big BS in this game is the N1K2. That thing facing the same enemys, than the P-51H, but it's much weaker. I fokin don't understand why is the N1K2 in 6.3 and the P-51D-30, which is much better than the N1K2 in 4.7. -_-
some of the br problems are glaring, but dont get too emotional about it, just dont fly the most glaring cases.

Yes, I don't fly with the N1K2, coz shit BR, but I really like that plane and I will fly it. :( Gaijin need first the BR fix it, and then fix the tanks and ships.

it was an issue worth mentioning, and i still pay most stuff myself, despite being in the partnership program.
such a pain spades tier4 props dude....
i know, i spaded most tier4 stuff before i ever made a WT video.
The problem is, this plane cannot be down tiered either. When this plane does get down tiered it seal clubs every one. Which is fine if you are an American who can only seal club and Gaijin nerfs everyone to ensure the Americans never need to learn how to fly or fight. I have had no problem facing jets. It is one of the very few prop planes that can compete with jets. Leave the br where it is and either the snowflakes learn how to counter jets or they can leave it in the hanger and atop sniveling about it.
