Hey guys, time for the F4U-4B Corsair, the cannonversion of the 4 that was released in patch 1.71. Fantastic firepower on this american beauty. Is that good enough to compensate for the wobble that is in the Corsair FM atm. Rolling off central axis was a big problem for the for, lets see how that is on the 4B :) Hope you enjoy! Hey jengar, what convergence did you use here?
lol @ 1:15 when Jengar ices the D-9, then stutters when he realizes what a nice kill it is, but he's expressing a different thought, lol. You could almost hear his, "That was very nice."

Save your money the mustangs look nice and they fly well but in dog fights they take to long to turn

The issue of rolling off center happens in planes in real life and in fact the F-14 Tomcat is one of the planes that is noticeable for fixing just that. I also saw not long ago an interview with a Corsair pilot (War Veteran) who would mention how little of a stick input it would take for the planes to tilt and roll wich makes sense when you consider that having the center of gravity off level would cause that.
whats you convergence on 50's and 20mm, i always have the issue of sparking and not doing enough damage on dives.
600m on wingmounted guns, and 800m on centrally mounted, no matter the caliber, is what i use :)
the corsairs are my favorite american planes, not because of the guns, the looks, or the performance, but because the landing gear is also the airbrake, thats some german level engineering right there

Jengar, overheating is no an issue at all when you use MEC. You are able to WEP until your WEP runs out without overheating the engine. You should really try out MEC.

Another nice video as usual, but one thing I have to say is were these F4U's Wobbly in reality, were other aircraft the same? maybe it is the gull wing that gives it that Wobble. Just curious.

Hey Jengar! Nice video as always! I'm still grinding the corsairs, and I noticed they have a new A26 in the American tree, and I took a closer look and this one only has 6 .50 cals, but has the option to add 4 more .50 cals and a 37 mm cannon! Seems like the perfect attacker for bomber hunting and ground attack. Please give it a review!

Ok, so I was a bit off about the guns...the stock A26 b10 has 6 .50 cals, but the upgrade replaces it with 2 less .50 cals (4) and a 37 mm cannon. Found today when I finally unlocked it.
Planes roll around the axis determined by the wings plane, imagine if you had the fuselage 1 meter above the plane of the wings, the rolling axis would be 1 meter below the fuselage and the fuselage being "off center" hence goes around that axis! Which creates that handeling for the Corsairs.
i've never noticed it before as badly on any of the corsair before flying these two out in this new patch ;)

Gaijin have to add experimental planes like bf 109 k14 etc and some other Japanese prototypes too. Now I know these planes were never produced, but this is the only way to make axis faction to have a chance to fight against these super props.

The -4B has more horsepower than the -4 so it has better low speed acceleration and climb rate. But the wing pylons add a lot of drag so I think the top speed may be only just as good or a little worse than the -4.

A big way to help the 50s shine is load tracers or ground targets. The ground target belt is a better universal belt than the actual universals and kill much faster in my experiences in the Hellcat. Tracers obviously burn anything they touch making them equally helpful. I think if you try those you'll be a lot more satisfied with the 50s. I found them to be shit but a friend suggested the GT belts and they became much more lethal.
looking at the groundtargetbelt content doesnt make me think lethal tbh. What makes them more effective?
Jengar the M2 AP rounds hit harder than the M8 AP-I rounds. The M8s have a better fire chance but if you really wanted to burn out planes the tracers are an obvious choice. Also M2s are obviously better strafing rounds if for some reason you can/want to go lawn mowing.
Jengar also less useless rounds, namely the ball tracers, so you get more AP rounds to punch with.
The fire going out on the Do-217... that is why I ignore fires. The planes is dead when it is black, and is fair game until then.
Nyet. I have seen them go out far too often. Fire doesn't do much damage anymore. And please, if you see one of my targets on fire, please kill it. If it lives, it may bomb something or shoot one of us.

By the way, repair cost is 20k. This is what can make you avoid flying this beauty.

idk i love 50 cals and they do great for me in the f4u-4. expecially against japanese planes, you dont need the 20's
i prefer the 20's tbh, but 50 cals wernt bad last patch.
So, at least the cannons give it a little more parity then?

they all look the same to me although I only have the first F4U which I don't play at all but yeah they all look the same from the exterior
Mostly. The Marine -1A is a tiny bit lighter and doesn't have an arresting hook on the rear landing gear strut. The -1D and -1C lose the canopy frame on the Malcolm hood (although currently it's bugged and that doesn't appear in cockpit view). The -4 has some different cowl flaps, an intake below the engine (giving it a "square-jawed" appearance), and a redesigned canopy with a flat armor glass plate, better forward visibility, and an enlarged Malcolm hood for better rearward visibility. The -4B has fixed pylons underneath the wings that come with the cannon armament.
Otherwise the planes should be virtually identical in appearance, significant shape changes wouldn't start to appear until the F4U-5 and later variants of the Corsair.
Patches these are minor details I don't know if they change anything at the plane's performance but as I said I only have the first F4U
performance does improve with better engines and such :)

In my opinion, the Corsairs lose their effectiveness higher the BR... The Corsairs still rek doh.
I never "felt" any wobble in one of my Corsairs. Have you or others tried various fuel loads?

These videos are misleading because in real rb air the enemy fighters are not flying spread out apart, they are always all bunched up in the middle of the map
