I used a 20year old laptop as I have an iPhone, but it was very easy to install, thing I wanna say is the quest 3 should come with this as standard it’s unreal the amount of detail there that the quest doesn’t show (as standard) but it’s there to be had and this makes it look awesome 👍🏼👍🏼 I can’t recommend it more it’s a must 👍🏼👍🏼 I can only hope that when games are optimised for q3 that they look even better with the £9 upgrade 😄👍🏼

That’s the price you pay and that’s why this isn’t enabled by default for the quest because the battery will drain real quick. You can get a good power bank or something like bobovr I personally won’t bother as I got pc that I can connect to and play higher Rez games

Is the battery draining too quickly? It's so fast in all my games... how can I fix it, because I read that the battery with bobovr should last over 1 hour...
BoboVr makes amazing products unfortunately they sold the M3 strap knowing it had a battery with a 5200 mah, which is simply just not enough juice for the 3. Back at the first of the year after they cleared out their M3 inventory, they announced the S3 strap that is powered by a battery with a 10,000 mah battery. I bit the bullet and bought the S3 strap literally a month after buying the M3. At one time BoboVr offered a 30% discount for people who had bought the M3, since they knew the M3 just wasn’t enough power for the quest 3. All in all your going to spend about 200 dollars to get s3 pro strap, and two extra 10,000 mah batteries, and their three battery charging dock. It sucks they sold people the m3 knowing the S3 would be coming out shortly after, but the results from the S3 strap are incredible. The strap is extremely comfortable and even has a built in fan on the front. Plus the three batteries give me 14-16 hours of gameplay, which is way more then I could ever need.
Hey i followed the official tutorial through a pc its been fine for a couple of days but when i went on i was hit with a red text box of it not working or something, any idea how to fix this?
I got all the way to the point where ADB is lite up red. I then downloaded the sidequest app on my Samsung and plugged my phone into my quest 3 and I never received the same pop ups that you did, there is nothing about using sidequest. What am I doing wrong?
Still can't find that video you mention I have sidequest installed and quest game optimizer installed on headset but I can't get the adb to go green I'm stuck on the last part 😔
Oversight, "dumbness", lower battery usage... take your pick(s). It can tweak beyond product designers' total goals (at the time), mfg recommended specs, etc.. not dissimilar to the "over-clocking" back-drop and potential side-effects known in their own community. It other words, QGO is necessarily taxing on the Q3's electronics and battery, but its benefits by far outweigh the negatives. Now that many Q3 owners use battery packs or wired power, the argument of "conserving native battery usage" is no longer a true issue so, yes, an official version should be worked-on and released free by Meta since their reasons for ommting natural optimizations are somewhat moot. Perhaps Meta did not foresee consumers to readily address the power issue really at the core of "the why(s)", on their own. Who knows and doesn't matter now. Hope that helps... So I agree with your sentiment but at least we have this awesome software for a cheap price.

With the Quest 3 it's worth it, I'm running some games at 170% res, 3000x3000 in lucky's tale for example. It depends on how demanding the game is, Asgard's wrath for example, not really worth it the performance chugs with the smallest increase

You can't do this with a iPhone or iPad because you can't debug the quest with it

I think it has to be a link cable not just a regular charging cable the one that came with your actual quest works as a link cable though
Cant download sidequest beta for phone as its only for older versions apparently 🤦
You can get it on the headset itself. I have a tutorial, no phone, no PC required.

Because you have to redo everything again when you restart the quest.

You'll need to do it via PC only.

It makes nearly *everything* look a bit better to a lot better. On all my Quest buys over the years this was definitely the best value.
