  • An alternative to using an elevator to flap mix that you can adjust "on the fly" for each flap position. Each flap position has a unique elevator trim position to eliminate ballooning when you deploy the flaps. Using the Radiomaster TX16S MkII Max with EdgeTX 2.8.5

    Just a quick note, if you are using this for elevator to flap trim mixing and need to delay the trim motion to coincide with the flap deployment speed, use the "Fade In" and "Fade Out" timers to match up the flap and trim transition speeds. Thanks for the tip @Mikeylikesit1968 !

    Oh mannn, tha k you for this video! Still learning. Love this feature that my friend (recently purchased) frsky controller & he set up this for his f16, that tend to be out of trimm with gear down & this flight modes made it easy to trim on the air.

    Hi Shane. I have a delta wing edf and I have canards as well. i would like to have the elevator and canard trims separated? I'm sure it can be done. I have the canards and channels 6 & 7.
    thanks for your great videos they have helped me out some much.

    Got it. That was easier than I figured it would be. On my planes with flaps, I have a mix that raises the flaps from the landing position to the takeoff position when I push the throttle stick up above half-throttle during a touch-and-go. I call it my poor man's TO/GA switch. On my iX14, I could probably set up a combo switch that's controlled by the analog switch on the throttle and the flap switch instead of using a mix. I'm sure the TX16S could also do it using its logical switches.

    • @txkflier
      @txkflier Год назад

      I tried the combo switch idea on my iX14 tonight and it's much better than the mix I was using to raise the flaps from landing flaps to takeoff flaps during touch-and-goes. It's a lot less work and I now get an announcement that the flaps have changed to takeoff position as the throttle stick goes above center. And, if I leave the flap switch in the landing flap position to make a lap around the field, I get the landing flaps announcement when I bring the throttle stick back below center.

      I found a better way that doesn't require the combo switch function. If the transmitter lets you use two switches for flight modes, you can use the flap switch (D) for switch 1 and the throttle stick for switch 2. I changed FM4 and FM5 to FM2 and changed the flap switch to Flight Mode instead of D. FM1 is flaps up, FM2 is takeoff flaps, and FM3 is landing flaps.

    Excellent information. I'm currently setting up the model for the mini draco 800mm; this will really come in handy.
    on a side note, I've tried looking for those specific sound bytes, like "take off flaps, landing flaps, flight battery low" etc. can you point me in the right direction please?
    thanks in advance.

      Not sure which flight battery sound you are referring to, the model I used in this video I don't think I had any low battery call out. The flap position audio tracks I custom made. You can download them from my GitHub repository. Download the file "Flap_position_sound.zip". You might need a free GitHub account to get to the page.

      I made one for another video I did on voltage telemetry, it is Jarvis from the Ironman movie saying "We are now running on emergency backup power". I could drop that one on github if you are interested. I might have some others and of course can make any voice callouts we want.

      I just responded to your other comment. Does your plane have auto leveling safe mode? If so just put it in safe mode and throttle up. The gyro will keep it level until you get up and take the controls.

      @@stevejamelskyj5761 The procedure to make different trim settings for different flap settings in this video will work for what you need I think. You just don't need to link the flight modes to flaps, just put them on any switch you want. Then in different switch positions you can have increasing levels of up elevator trim so when you flip the switch to the desired flight mode you can get some up elevator that you fine tune with the elevator trim. Hopefully that makes sense. As with all things EdgeTX there are many ways to accomplish the same things. Good luck and happy flying!
