F••k no. Nirvana contributed towards Metallica getting grunge fans kinda like how Motorhead was a band that punk rockers and metalheads could both enjoy. There's not a trace of Metallica in Nirvana's music and Metallica wasn't famous until Enter Sandman. Nirvana becoming famous had absolutely nothing to do with Metallica. Nirvana helped Metallica AND Megadeth stand apart from the garbage metal of the 80's and had some influence on why the early 90's Metallica and Megadeth music didn't fall to the wayside like Poison, Motley Crue, Winger, etc. did. Nirvana killed off hair metal while Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, etc. continued to thrive.
Rock died in the 80s. Dave got no respect or acknowledgement just the kids of that generation that actually was dumb enough to buy what any celebrity at the time was selling.

Metallica is exactly what Kurt hated about men in general. Boastful. Arrogant. Machismo attitudes. Shallow. Whereas Kurt was deeply emotional and in touch with the world in a realistic way.
I feel that Metallica had no right whatsoever making fun of Kurt. Especially with that what color was Kurt's eyes joke. In my opinion that would be the equivalent of someone asking "Did you like Cliff Burton?" And then someone replying "Yeah i did! But I always found him a little flat." And I'm not making fun of Cliff at all! He's literally one of my favorite bass players of all time! I'm just using what I said as an example because look how they acted about Cliffs death. Hell, they gave Jason so much sh*t and Jason literally loved Cliff and Metallica! So just imagine how they'd feel if Nirvana made that Cliff joke.
That “What color is Kurt’s eyes” joke was in horrible taste! Like how would they feel if someone said “What does Cliff sound like on bass?” and then they said “He’s good, but he’s a little flat!”
James Hetfield has a tendency for egomania, where he can respond to the situation and people around him with a 'one-up-manship' mentality. This would be beneficial for his practice and progression as a musician, but can get out of control in social situations.
Jokes are jokes. It's always fine. And Metallica were present in the crowd on AIC unplugged concert, so they knew each other and all was fine. Layne himself didn't hesitate to mock Mustayne
Nirvana’s Bleach album was very heavy and metal influenced. I liked both bands, Nirvana being my 1st influence on guitar and Metallica being very influential too. Metallica wasn’t a cock rock band and they gained more mainstream success in the early 90’s too. I think that could have sort of paved the way, but late 80’s bands like the Pixies, MBV and Sonic Youth, also did.
As I know Nirvana was invited to go on tour with Metallica and Guns’n’Roses. They refused that…. They had an issue to becoming a big stadium band… and also Kurt and Axl weren’t nice with each other etc etc
Band name and song name. Not sure what language it is. Very catchy. But unfortunately i will not be downloading it since it isn't English. Hope this helps! Strange Замолчишь
as much as i really love both nirvana and metallica, i find it quite baffling how they make jokes about kurt’s death when they know how it feels to lose a band member. imagine how they’d feel if dave or krist made a joke about cliff’s death. another thing that confuses me is how someone, not only metallica, can make jokes about kurt’s death when they admire the band/kurt’s work. again, don’t get me wrong, nirvana and metallica are both two of my favourite bands of all time
I love the Metalli-Brothers ❤ However that wasn't called for. Alice in Chains & Nirvana, Rock! 🎸🥁 They should of paid their respects for both bands that both lost their lead singers. 😢
James hetfield got on stage at Cheshire fairgrounds in New Hampshire and said what color were Kurt cobains eyes when he died? Blue! One blew this way and one blew that way! It was a mixed reaction from the crowd. I remember thinking wow! That was kinda messed up. Years later and I had completely forgotten about it I saw a video about it. Kinda like this one. As an adult I think it was one of the most tasteless and inappropriate things I’ve ever heard. Especially from a guy who has a massive platform on a big stage
James Hetfield made fun of Layne Staley because AIC supposed to tour with them, and they not because of Laynes addiction. Hetfield is a big fan of AIC and friends with Jerry. But Laynes addiction was threatned to destroy the band, one of the best bands in the 90s. Thats the reason of James behaviour and mocking Layne, which wasnt nice.
When Metallica released their Load & Reload albums in the mid 1990's most of their fans felt absolutely disappointed because of such rock alternative sound Metallica compiled from different rock alternative bands. At least, the Metallica fans in my homeland couldn't believe that it was the same Metallica playing such themes. Even though Load & Reload albums were commercially successful; Metallica fans felt betrayed due to the fact that Metallica was selling itself to the alternative rock which was the most trending rock sound at the time. The point of this is that even though the jokes on NIrvana members were quite offensive; Metallica members ended up releasing 2 albums which were completely opposite to their Trash Metal music.
I was born in 92, and metallica was the first heavy band I herd. It took me until recently to fully appreciate nirvana. If they had toured together that would have been the most legendary tour of all time. Gnr sucks.
I've always enjoyed both Metallica and Nirvana. Both for different reasons. Both offer great music and different vibes. Good music is not confined in one band or one style. Anything else, like this drama queen action and jabs, did not and does not interest me.
Janes and Lars' jokes about Kurt and Nirvana, tasteless. But James was young and stupid. Janes in his Gran-Pa type state, he probably regrets saying what he said.
I think its disrespectful for their jokes when Kirk told a story about how excited Kurt was watching Metallica and asking him if they were going to play his favorite song of theirs, Whiplash.
As a huge Nirvana fan (best band of all time) I'm also a big Metallica fan, making fun of suicide though is disgusting, but James was not in the right place back in the 90s with alcohol etc, Lars on the other hand is a dick and always has been, he's always been driven by money and his own ego i pay zero attention to anything he says.
Kurt always loved Metallica. Just see what he said about them in the movie 1991: The Year Punk Broke. Metallica didn’t grow up listening to Nirvana. And Nirvana made Metallica look unhip by comparison. I see them dissing Nirvana as nothing but cope.
AiC and Metallica were friends. You can see "friends dont let friends get hair cuts" written on an instrument on AiC unplugged. It was directed at Metallica for thier Load image. Load in itself was hugely inspired by AiC. The jokes on Nirvana were in bad taste.
Lars Ulrich the dynamic drummer, known for his straight forward un-filtered opinion? I think they meant to say was opinion has it, that Lars Ulrich is sometimes known as a drummer, albeit straight forward and highly filtered through Pro-Tools cut and paste and drum triggering, otherwise known as skin filled meat and not much else.
I think it’s inaccurate to say, based on a few public comments, that Kurt didn’t like Metallica early in his career and that his feelings evolved. Kurt probably always had mixed feelings about them. Nirvana’s sound was clearly influenced by metal and I am not surprised that he liked Whiplash. But he was also vehemently opposed to the sexism and machismo that accompanied metal music and wanted to distance himself from that. To complicate it further, he would often just trash things because he was in a particular mood or wanted to impress his punk rock friends. So he could easily have very different opinions depending on the context and day and I think it’s extremely reductionistic to talk as if he could only either like or dislike Metallica.
Cobain was much more of a music snob than the guys in Metallica in fact I first heard of Nirvana from Metallica, they have been instrumental in bringing lots of emerging music to wider attention , I first heard of Ghost through them too. Curt seemed to have this kind of "purist" attitude /persona that he tried to maintain at least publicly you can hear it when he makes the crack about Metallica wearing Misfits shirts as "giving permission" for metal heads to like them as if there is some lame un authentic "poser" intent involved instead of it just being support for cool music not a lot of people in their crowd may have been aware of yet. Cobain was kind of immature in that way.
Disrespected J and L after this crap , i understand situation with Dave , for my opinion D.Mustaine is a man! But I'm still understand their situation , but wth about Kurt ... They are acting like cheap nothings for real
Might been Cobain had to himself , you know as i grown person I'm trying analyzed every opinion , but Dave and Krist deserved shlt like they are said? Ffs they are (m) just commercial nothings
My rule of thumb if you’re going to grab everyone’s attention to tell a joke. You better make sure it’s actually funny. If not you’re just a jackass wasting everyone’s time.
That was f up but I'm not a metalicafan but I will say seeing nirvana live was genius and so electric for three guys look hypercritical on hell yes but when they fade in live what. Will you say to god
By the way for all that made of of a murder not sucide impossible I will say with experience drug addiction noes no bounds and colors money and family hope it's not one your kids that's coming from a clean heroin addict for if it were not for both tragic deaths they have no fn clew if you never lived it don't speak don't say shit understand .

I think was a combo of things; jealousy, Metallica was past its prime, bit immature still, grohl is and was a better drummer than Lars.
Jealous even though they were the better band?
I don't think Dave could play a 3h show like Metallica did and stuff like Battery in encore
@@kylehoulihan3875 nirvana was more popular than metallica in the 90's, theyre probably jealous that nirvana stole the spotlight, even if was just for a moment.
Respect the dead... RIP ...kurt Cobain
Yes I agree
As I know Nirvana was invited to go on tour with Metallica and Guns’n’Roses. They refused that…. They had an issue to becoming a big stadium band… and also Kurt and Axl weren’t nice with each other etc etc
Everybody knows that Metallica was friends with the Aliice in chains They were in the front row the unplugged concert
Whats that song at the end of the vidos the instrumental is their a full track
Band name and song name. Not sure what language it is. Very catchy. But unfortunately i will not be downloading it since it isn't English. Hope this helps!
Strange Замолчишь
as much as i really love both nirvana and metallica, i find it quite baffling how they make jokes about kurt’s death when they know how it feels to lose a band member. imagine how they’d feel if dave or krist made a joke about cliff’s death. another thing that confuses me is how someone, not only metallica, can make jokes about kurt’s death when they admire the band/kurt’s work. again, don’t get me wrong, nirvana and metallica are both two of my favourite bands of all time
They should have had more respect for death because of Cliff
A saber de qué color tenía los ojos Cliff Burton cuando lo sacaron de debajo del autobús.
I love the Metalli-Brothers ❤ However that wasn't called for. Alice in Chains & Nirvana, Rock! 🎸🥁
They should of paid their respects for both bands that both lost their lead singers.
That's why quit Metallica. The stuff they said about layne. That guy needed help.
Kurt Cobain had a destiny similar to Jimi Hendrix's!
0:29 oh if only he knew what dave was about to do
I was born in 92, and metallica was the first heavy band I herd.
What has six arms, six legs, and wrote "My lifestyle determines my death style"? Not Kurt Cobain, that's for damn sure!
Lars sounds like woody Allen when he talks
Janes and Lars' jokes about Kurt and Nirvana, tasteless. But James was young and stupid. Janes in his Gran-Pa type state, he probably regrets saying what he said.
Everyone one says something horribly stupid at one time or another Everybody is guilty They made amends
Works at McDonald's eh? That didn't age well.
I feel like kurt would have found james joke funny not gonna lie
hetfield was out of pocket for that
I think its disrespectful for their jokes when Kirk told a story about how excited Kurt was watching Metallica and asking him if they were going to play his favorite song of theirs, Whiplash.
What has more brains than Kurt cobain?
His wall
Dave grohl is 100 times better than Lars at drums and not one normal person on earth would disagree.
You left singer and songwriter from James Hatfield's bip
Lars Ulrich the dynamic drummer, known for his straight forward un-filtered opinion? I think they meant to say was opinion has it, that Lars Ulrich is sometimes known as a drummer, albeit straight forward and highly filtered through Pro-Tools cut and paste and drum triggering, otherwise known as skin filled meat and not much else.
Lars Ulrich’s joke was not funny at all, it was totally disrespect to Nirvana members. Plus, his drumming style is not as good as Dave’s.
What made them change their minds about Nirvana? The money
James is hilarious.😂😂
I didn't know Jason wrote that one.
😂😂
Kurt was a big fan of Metallica.
You can hear it in bleach.
Layne Staley was one in a million.Lars is one in maybe 500. All due respect
It’s honestly shameful that those jokes came from a 30 year old man
All I'm gonna say is "St Anger" 😂
if I'd joke about cliff Burton's death, they wouldn't be very happy
never liked metallica so much and to this day even more....
Their netflix documentary shows metalica is stock. Full time stock. Their words
Kurt had a loudmouth too!
I still love Metallica but I’ll never forget this…
My rule of thumb if you’re going to grab everyone’s attention to tell a joke. You better make sure it’s actually funny. If not you’re just a jackass wasting everyone’s time.
Right 😂
Lars is like a shyster supervisor
That was f up but I'm not a metalicafan but I will say seeing nirvana live was genius and so electric for three guys look hypercritical on hell yes but when they fade in live what. Will you say to god
By the way for all that made of of a murder not sucide impossible I will say with experience drug addiction noes no bounds and colors money and family hope it's not one your kids that's coming from a clean heroin addict for if it were not for both tragic deaths they have no fn clew if you never lived it don't speak don't say shit understand .
O ya Kurt Donald Cobain the king of rock in roll the end passed on the wick to Alice in chains rock is dead , and dies in Seattle
Those jokes were disrespectful but at the same time I feel like Kurt would have laughed
Ill admit they were bad jokes and bad timing but theyve matured since then and im with metallica ride or die. No group ever will come out with a banger like those firdt 4 or 5 albums ever again
