Hats off to you John for taking the time and making the effort to take us through the changes section by section. It's been a great help.
Great series of videos, helped me quickly get on top of the key changes. Thanks as always for these, you are appreciated!
Yes please for more on Part 8!
Fantastic video JW . Only you can explain thing in a clear easy to understand and detailed way, and with a touch of humour.
Thank you for these videos
Fantastic as always 👍👍👍❤️
More amendments than I've had hot dinners!
This is the first of your videos I come across.
It is clear, concise and an important subject the needs more research and understanding.
It's a pity the IET don't have a northern library,
JW is our God of electrical installation videos.... All hail our god
AMEN-dment
Hi John, Lots of good information as ever many thanks.
You raised a very good point at the tail end of the video, namely the importance of considering the current flow and protection from it, in relation to PV and such.
Not being interested in the Install of such things does not mean we can just ignore the technology. It will be around more and more, and will need tested, it often needs
fixed and wiring replaced etc.
So any info you have on all this would be very helpful.
Thanks again
The biggest scam ever = The transfer of money.
Plenty of that around since 2020. Hold on tight. More is coming
Thank you for your clear presentation of the changes. It always seemed strange to me that under G83 the inverter from a household solar system had to disconnect when the grid supply went off, leaving the householder unable to utilise the free energy from the roof.
There could have been “Prosumerism” at a much earlier stage using the provisions for safe isolation and reconnection to the grid that were then granted to commercial solar pv installations, which also enabled them to island. G54?
I think this was partly because early installs were downstream of a shared RCD, and there's little point in an RCD tripping for a fault if a PV system still back-feeds that half of the board! (I've actually found situations where a new circuit failed RCD disconnection times due to a PV system not turning off quickly enough.). These days a separate board for the PV has removed the issue.
Hey John, I wouldn’t mind if ‘London’ was ‘turned off’ for half an hour., especially ‘The City Of London’.....
Bro I'm in Australia thanks now I know how to position myself would have been essential for first and last but hey work with what you got.
Mate.
I see that both terms DNO and DSO are used in section 8. Surely it should just be DSO now.
Is there anything in Part 8 about grounding? US electricians get very excitable about it because the ground-neutral bond is done by them rather than the DNO equivalent. I *think* that I know what is required but it's potentially complex and I'd like to know what, if anything, the regulations require.
There is, particularly with island mode which can involve switching the earth / ground connection.
Will do a separate video on the concepts of Part 8.
@@jwflame Thank you John, look forward to it.
All this ingo should be free who produces this script.
Hi John I’ve got a question about sockets if a room has wood panelling from floor to about 3ft tall is it ok to flush fit sockets in to it
Yes, provided the wood panel isn't forming part of the enclosure for the socket wiring - any metal or plastic box should be flush with the front of the panelling, and the socket installed over the top.
What you don't want is for the box to be recessed deeply in the wall with a gap between the box and the front, leaving the edges of the wood panel exposed within the space behind the socket.
Thanks I did think that I’m not an electrician but have rewired every house I’ve lived in your explanation’s are very simple and easy to understand keep up the good work.
@@garyloudon2417 leave it to the pro’s
@@MrPwnageMachine lol and then they can charge me depending on how big they’re mortgage is and then slag every other electricians work they come across in the house I’ve rewired 5 houses and never had a problem .
How many batteries does a house need.
Cycle count please.
GTFOH.
my dumbass thought this videos has something to do with AMD ... the company
You're not the only one, AMD processors have been around for a long time.
