I was one of the first to run this rack back in 18' - They've come along way. It use to mount to the skin of the roof and not in the channels, didn't come with any harness and didnt have any wire hiding channel. I made my own harness and ran it through the roof using a mil-spec canon connector. Great video!
Sounds like a real pain in the ass lol. Did yours also fail to hold weight in the center of the rack too? If I put anything on the rails, it would tap on the glass of my moon roof. Was a worthless roof rack
@@RogueElement No but my rack sat up higher than yours because of where it was installed back then (on the skin of the roof vs. inside the rails). On the first go around the side-rails popped out a lot at the lights because the rails were too long. We went back and forth and they made new rails where they elongated the holes so they could shift a little.
you probably dont give a damn but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the password. I love any tricks you can offer me
I am a big fan of more lights and this install. I like that there is an option to hide the wiring harness as it goes down the windshield towards the fuse box. Having auxiliary switches is nice too. However, does KC lights have an option where you don’t have to drill holes in the sheet metal???
I’ve installed the hilites now for a month. I feel there is a lot of reflection on the front windshield. To an extent it’s uncomfortable. Are you having the same issue? I tried to put the amber covers, but still problem not solved.
@@RogueElement the dust definitely makes it worse. But still the brightness of the light adds an uncomfortable layer of reflection on the windshield. Amber covers and clean glass make it better but still annoying. Glad you didn’t have the same problem. Hope I’m doing something wrong and there is a solution.
@@tannermaxwell7321 No prob! Just need to measure between the rails to ensure you buy the proper kayak mount. That, or fabricate a base mount and make it universal.
Right around $3k. the install is pretty easy but not entirely sure what the install cost would actually run. Probably a 2 hour install times about $75 an hour maybe?
very 1 second ago I just want to get your honest opinion about the KC Hilite gravity you’re using. Does it produce annoying whizzing noise . Your post is very helpful and I always follow your channel all the time. 🙏 thanks
There is definitely a noticeable difference in wind noise. You’ll get that with just about anything you mount on your roof or windshield. I don’t know about it being a “whizzing” noise but it doesn’t whistle, it’s just the sound of wind hitting the parts and it’s not faint. The lights are pretty good but not spectacular but the thing I like the most about the rack is the side lights…they are badass

That's a clean install! Great video

@Nikolai Maximus Instablaster ;)
I didn’t see any sealant used for the holes in the roof. How did that work?
We used it, he just put it on while I was changing batteries in the camera
can a roam box be mounted on top? or max trax?
I would not trust a roam box or anything heavy on it unless it was mounts to the side but the cross bars bend with any real weight on them
@@RogueElement well thats disappointing to hear
@@iceman-ko6xi I put two pelican vault boxes up top with guns in them and the metal crossbar tapped the glass on the raptor on washboard roads.

No they don’t. I don’t believe there is a roof rack that offers that. No way to secure a load without it
Do you think this would fit a 2020 f150 xlt? Thanks!
It should fit.
How do you keep it waterproof with 8 holes in the roof
Hahaha! Rivnuts, little bit of sealant and a good torque works jus fine

I didn’t have an issue at all. The only time I noticed anything was when I was really dusty in the glass but otherwise it was fine

Also what is the wattage this system pulls? Does a stock battery and alternator suffice?????
Very little. I only used it on the single battery. It’s all LED so no need for anything more than that
Nice video. Get yourself a chase rack to complete the look!
Unfortunately I already sold it
Can you add kayak racks to the cross bars as well?
Yeah no prob!

I see a KC-92224 I don't know if this is the same or not
Not sure what the part number is
What is the weight that an f150 cab is rated to support, also the rack itself?
I'm not entirely sure but I wont be putting more than a couple hundred pounds on it at any point. The Rhino Rack Pioneer holds a lot more weight
