Hi Conor! I had to contact Sony to get an answer to your question, as I honestly used this turntable only through Bluetooth. If you have a speaker that supports the connection both via Bluetooth and cables, to provide the same conditions and make this comparison possible, you won't notice much of a difference in the audio quality. This turntable is a simple and versatile, audiophiles who are capable of noticing and appreciating the slightest differences in audio balance and quality are not the main target for this particular product :)
The answer is yes, it does. As pointed out above, you may not hear the difference, but even theoretically, one can immediately notice that the analog signal is now converted to digital to be sent wirelessly to your Bluetooth speakers/headphones. That kinda defeats the purpose of buying vinyl in the first place. Convenience is a huge temptress though, and I am guilty of using my quite pricey headphones to listen to vinyl on this turntable... on Bluetooth. I enjoy it, but I think there is a degradation of sound. You can connect it via the included cables though, so you’re not limited in any way.
