Two hours after publishing I finally realized I forgot to add the title to the video! Lol! 😂 Ok, it’s been fixed! At the end of the day - the Sony was fine….adequate….better than the previous ones we reviewed.
"sony" was a good title. Maybe a bit general but could have been worse.
hahahahaha
@@stefanegger "sony" is a legendary title. Enough to make people want to click through and watch. No clickbait here; accidental marketing genius. Well played, Mr. @Recordology, well-played...
Thanks for the review! On this range of price, for a BT turntable would you choose this Sony, the Insignia from Best Buy? A AudioTecnica? Another one?
Can I use an acrylic slip mat with the pslx310bt?
I am about to buy this as my first turntable
This video has informed me about almost everything
Thanks for anything!
It’s a good choice… Also consider the LP 70 X
@@Recordologywould you recommend LP 70 over this one from Sony?
@@SuperJorkinsI have the same question
Same question, while AT-LP70XBT is somehow discontinued.
I have this Turntable, I've been more than happy with it so far. I especially love the Bluetooth Output function. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Great to hear!
What r u using as a speaker
I’ll definitely be getting this record player as I’ve just got myself some Bluetooth noise cancelling Headphones, It’s so awesome that you can play a vinyl and listen to it with your Bluetooth Headphones, I’m sold!
Be careful as I bought this record player and also Sony Bluetooth noise cancelling headphones but they won't connect to the record player via Bluetooth.
I still have 2 Sony turntables, PS-LX300H and a PS-LX350H (1995-1996) that were sitting in my basement for about 14 years...beside changing the belts and cartridges to Audio-Technica AT-VM95E, they still are working perfectly.
They are a real good table for the money
Got one for my wife about to set it up. Thanks for the help 😊
Just got mines hooked up,thanks for the video man
I've had this turntable for 5 years in my secondary setup. I bought the Sony based on name (as a 90s teen I'm a Sony sellout) and styling. It just looks better than the LP60 or other equivalents. A worthy upgrade when you need to replace the stylus is the LP Gear Carbon Fiber elliptical stylus which I have been using for years and sounds fantastic with this turntable.
Yea..did the same. A little better top end
Cool video. I bought this turntable this pass February 2024 and I have it paired with the Sony STR DH190:receiver the Sony SSCS5 speakers and I’ve been very happy with it. I think it sounds very good. Pair this with an Onkyo DXC 390 six cd CD’s changer and I’m in for $892 not bad for my first system in years
I have this one, got it for Christmas and I LOVE it
just pulled the trigger and bought this , first turntable I have bought since the early 1980s.
Bought mainly for it's USB functionality to digitize to computer ....looking forward to using it
I have had a few turntables in my 60 years , starting with a XMAS gift of a Craig combo in 78, BiC, JVC and currently spinning my dad's 1980s SONY
That is awesome! It's a great turntable, you're going to love it.
Thank you for this visual. It was very helpful and I enjoy your review. I have it connected to my echo show and it’s sounds great. Happy with my purchase
Glad to hear it, enjoy!
Still rocking this player. First one I ever had
I had a Sony PS-LX 310 in the 80s. A completely different device. It was a direct drive turntable with quartz speed control. The cartrige was a removable T4P system. The tonearm bearings were not that lose and the arm had a (fixed) counterweight with an additional weight to do a fine tuning. It had even an adjustable anti-skating. That felt like a Sony. 🙂
Interesting that they would repeat the model number!
I like the title straight to the point
Lol
*sony*
Seems like a good unit. It just doesn't do anything that other offerings around the same price don't already do at the same build and sound quality.
Fun video to watch, thank you for your presentation and honesty,
My pleasure!
Very nice starter turntable for someone who is just getting into vinyl !
I've had this turntable since 2020. I picked it up from best buy for $149.99. I love it. Switch the stylus to the lp gear elliptical, get a rubber platter mat and a record weight. It sounds amazing paired to a Marshall Bluetooth speaker.
Im new, do you put the vinyl on top of the platter mat? Or is the platter mat only used when there is no vinyl currently on the turntable?
The mat always sits on the platter and the record goes on top. Check out our video on platter mats for more!
@@Recordology also, what if i have a different mat, like acrylic mat. Do i still put the other mat the turntable came with first? And then the acrylic mat?
Is it close to original sound ? Cause people complain about lp sound through bluetooth system. Thanks
@@xFersureMattI don’t know if you are still wanting an answer but no you don’t need to put the original mat under a new one, doing so could mess up your tracking force (how much pressure the needle has on the record) which can damage records
The second choice record sounded very good.
Nice video, thanks 😊😊😊
But it seemed to me that everything was too simple. There is no tonearm adjustment. So I ordered myself a Denon dp400, for my collection of old vinyl.
I'm about to buy my first Turntable and I'm debating between the AT lp70x BT vs this Sony.... I'm getting the overall feeling that I should go with the AT lp70x. Any thoughts?
(Only reason I'm not saving myself 50$ and getting the AT lp60 is because it unfortunately looks cheap and way too basic. Sony has a sleeker look to it, and the AT lp70 bronze and black is just sexy)
Hey what did you end up buying??
If my memory serves me correctly,, the Audio-Technica AT-LP70 had much less play in the gimbal. The speaks quality in my mind.
Great overview!
Thank you!
So on the switch on the back would you leave it on low med or high and for what sound?
Thanks for the wonderful review, this got me over the money. getting my mom one with some AirPods Pro 2 , thank you good sir and god bless
Awesome thank you!
@@Recordology she is in the seventh heaven or so , having a blast. Got all her old records from the attic (she is 80) and loves the looks , the ease of use and sound 😎 thanks again !
It is a Hanpin made turntable. The Sony version is adequate turntable mostly because you are stuck with the AT-3600L. The AT-LP 70 is better for the fact it has the AT-95 cartridge. The one I encountered also had a bizarre groan when the arm moved back and forth. I just think it is a little expensive for what you get.
I hoped it tracked a little lighter as Phansteihl makes an eliptical cartridge that sounds quite good on this cartridge, however the cantilever is lighter than the carbon, it has to track at 2 grams.
Good point!
the platter mat sounds like it might be made of the same sort of material as a mouse pad
Yes! Thats it!
Thanks for the vid mate. Once paired with a speaker, does the bluetooth automatically pair when you turn the player on, or do you have to manually pair each time?
Mr. Recordology, I have to agree with you on Sony turntables. Back in 1977 I bought a Sony EX-1 all in one turntable and radio. Sound was nothing great. It had programable play on tracks and auto return feature. Stylus had to be changed every 50 hours of listening. Unit had passive radiator speakers which were poor. Price was $199 then. Saw two exams on Ebay for sale now.
What did you do to the stylus to make it only 50 hours of lifespan?
Even caramic styluses go way beyond 50 hours of playing before it need to be changed.
What a great review. Do I need a apm and/or preamp to connect this turntable to a speaker? What is a best setup for a beginner?
I don't particularly like the arm and I'd always be looking for a unit with a detachable shell so I can select the cartridge I want to use.
How long is the included RCA cable?
Should i get this or the audio technica atlp120
You know how you said the button on the back is for standby not off, should I be unplugging my record player when it's not in use cause I've been leaving it on standby 🥴 ?
Good question. My guess it's a bit like leaving your USB chargers on when not using? Same with my guitar foot pedals. I stomp them "OFF" and leave them with the 9 volt power supply turned on. Probably not a good idea but they have been left on for years. 😆😂
@@KevinHallSurfing according to google I SHOULD be unplugging it when not in use. I'm gonna start doing that from now on 😅 lol
like others, this is my first turnable. looking to see if its worth getting.
Titles just perfect
I know......I do that all too often lol!
I don't like the Smoky color dust cover I like a clear one so that way I can watch the vinyl record spin especially if it's a colored one. Or a spater vinyl record.
Hi! I'm about to buy my first turntable and I have no idea about turntables, would you recommend this, the AT-LP60XBT or the AT-LP70XBT? thx! :)
70 if you can afford it but both are great.

I just purchased this for my daughter. We having the worst time trying to connect to any speaker in our house via Bluetooth. We’ve been trying for an hour. Speakers start to pair and then cannot. Other speakers can’t even find it to pair with. Why are we having so much trouble?
wow how cool is this

9:00 - my first guess, too, was that the cutout was there for a strobe or speed sensor. Then I did some RTFM (literally) and it says that the USB port is there for firmware updates. But so far there are no updates on Sony's site (at least in my country).
Interesting! What on earth could be updated? The Bluetooth codec?
Back in the 90's I bought a Sony turntable and really liked it. I have a bunch of good turntables, like 'The AR Turntable' and a monster Braun PS 500, and a few others, but the Sony, fitted with an Ortofon OM10 (I think that was it, maybe the 5?) was the only TT I've ever owned that on the soundtrack to 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture' in the Klingon Battle the music took on a 3D experience (in stereo) where sound efex bounced back and forth above my head.
Wow!
Seems to be a decent alternative to the usual Audio Technica LP60 series, especially if you have other Sony components and want to keep everything matching. Seems to sound pretty good and I will admit that I kinda like how it looks compared to the LP60 series. Anyway, I am guessing that "hidden" USB port may be a service port or for firmware upgrades. The fact that it has BT out as well as USB digitization/ripping means there is programming logic involved and possible that could be upgraded, such as adding new BT codecs or finding bugs/stability issues.
I don’t know if you may have reviewed the Sony SSCS 5 speakers but I would be interested on a review of them or at least your opinion. I know judging speakers is subjective. I picked up a pair 3 years ago for a little over $100, and I’ve enjoyed them ever since.
Is the platter mat neoprene?
One of the other comments mentioned material like a mouse pad and it could be that.
That is what I was about to say. Looks like neoprene, the same stuff my wetsuits are made of!
Yes thats it!
Yes that's it!
did you use speakers for the test?
I need help!! I got this for Christmas and after some inspection since it wasn't working I found out it came with no cartridge! What am I supposed to do now?? 😅
Would you recommend this one or the Audio-Technica LP70?
Can I connect it somehow to my soundbar with optical cable?
Do you miss Colorado, with the cold and crisp air, the mountains and the snow?
I do....absolutely. We love it here but often miss those beautiful Colorado Falls.
@@Recordology Since you have moved to Florida, have you been back?
This is by far the best record player if you are new to vinyl records, I can't recommend the Rega, these are extremely sensitive for vibration and resonance, clearly over hyped brand.
I recommend three accessories for the Sony, and they are
1. Pro-Ject record mat Cork & rubber it 3 mm thick.
2. Pro-Ject Damp-it, vibration damper.
3. Record clamp, not a record weight it will be way too heavy for this recordplayer.
Dang! I loved the original title, *sony*. The numbers show it. Stats tell me this video got you 2.7X the average views within 24 hours. Considering your LP70X review has been your other biggest outlier in the past half-year, I think it was a happy mistake.
8:41 I wonder if that micro-USB port is for Sony diagnostics to plug into, more than likely to test the Bluetooth system. The Technics SL-1200MK7 has a small port (I don't remember what kind) that Panasonic techs can connect to but likely to test the drive system and controls.
If the cartridge would be replaceable it will be a winner 😢
Just got it is it possible to use it without Bluetooth if so how?
Hi,can I ask you you about regarding this product.i wanna upgrade to sumiko cartridge, is that possible to upgrade sumiko songbird from their original cartridge?
Good question! Unfortunately, the cartridge on this is glued to the underside of the tone arm, so it would be a risky proposition. It would be possible, but it would be risky.
@Recordology oh thank you for the sharing knowledge now get it,last question if you wouldn't mind to answer,so which type model record player can be sumiko cartridge?I wanna to know some knowledge before to own it one
newbie here. Just got this turntable as a christmas present from family and I was looking at reviews to learn more about it. I have a question. Why does the motor need to be as far away as possible from the stilus?
Good question. Because the vibration that the motor makes can be picked up by the stylus and sound like feedback.
@@Recordology oooooh make sense! Thanks for the info!
Sony makes a darn good high res Walkman. I have one and it absolutely sounds fantastic. It's the Sony NWA45.
@Record-ology how difference between model with final letters : CEK e CEL ?
Good question! I am not sure!
You had me scared there cutting those last 2 pieces of tape a half an inch from the dust cover lol
The AT-LP70X is better across the board, looks/sound/versatility....I see no point in this one. The fact that you can change out the stylus to 6 different varieties to completely change the sound signature without needing to change out the entire cartridge is amazing. You shouldn't close the cover when playing back so it's not important that the start/stop buttons are under the lid and having no dust nailing them over time will make a difference IMHO. Finally, the power cord is not attached and thus replaceable, always a good thing for longevity's sake. I love my AT-LP70XBT to pieces, it's all I need for my huge LP collection.
I have a regular 30$ Walmart suitcase record player and I realize it skips brand new records fresh put of the package, will I have the same problem if I purchase this one?
I had this one. I didn't like the latency between the sound coming from the needle and the BT speaker...
How do I make sure my drive belt is secured properly?
Just make sure its sitting in the middle of the pully and not riding up on the flange of the pully.
I'm not a fan of turntables that don't have basic adjustments for the tonearm. I have a Rega P1 that I bought recently that I think I'm going to sell because of that. While you can adjust the counterweight you'll have to use a scale to set it accurately if you buy a different cartridge. The antiskate is preset to the cartridge it ships with, which makes upgrading the cheap cartridge it comes with requiring modifying the arm. (I want to upgrade to the Audio-Technica AT-VM95EN). I'm not found of the fixed headshell but my 'AR The Turntable' with a Linn arm is the same, a real bear to change. Especially when you're in your 70s and hands aren't as steady as they once were.
My hands have been shaky for a long time… Too much asthma medication over the years!
18:15 Mr motorcycle just had taco bell
lol
I like black plastic.
What was that first mercury record you tested with sounded like nice piano?
I believe that was Horst Jankowsk.
Horst Jankowski
Given that they are essentially the same price, would you give the nod to the new LP-70XBT after reviewing both? Looking for a table to complement my vintage Technics SL1600MKII for another room where I will need BT functionality.
LP70 BT edges this out.
Do you need to buy separate speakers for audio?
Yes indeed. Powered / active speakers.
Will a Marshall Bluetooth speaker work with this?
Same question..
My Bluetooth says it’s connected but speaker is not working and no other Bluetooth is connected what could be the problem?
And the switch in the back is Switched to line?
Can be tricky but make sure the speaker isnt pairing to something else first like your phone.
It says online that this turntable only connects to headphones and speakers!?
This might not work out.. we have several Bluetooth devices to try and figure out. I wonder if they’re all this way?
Thank you for your help … it was a needle issue after all lol it works now!
Thanks for sharing your video. I just purchased this and it helped me out a lot. Quick question if you might know the answer, am hooking it up to a Bluetooth speaker and it does not allow me to control the volume. It just remains one volume, which is pretty low, the speaker options do not help at all. Is this normal?
Good question! Typically Bluetooth volume control is done on the speaker side… It is common for there to be no volume control from the transmitting device.
What is a 45 adapter for? Do I have to have that?
That is for playng the 7" 45 RPM records with the larger hole.
Can you connect Active Speaker (with built in amps) directly to this Sony?
Or you need to buy a external amplifier?
I have it connected to active speakers with built-in pre amp and it works fine. I'm just struggling with noise due to the absence of ground wire.
8:08, no you dont have to be sorry. Please keep comparing turntables to others of their class. I'm looking for one and I'm thinking about a Sony-LX310, a Audio Technica LP70 and a Victrola VPT800. So please keep comparing so we know which one is better in one thing or an other
Do I need to buy an amp with this? Or can I just get this and some Sony speakers
Thank you
No
Just Bluetooth Speakers
@ thank you
No repeat switch,,,no 10inch on the size select…. Nice review but these companies need to address this constant gripe of mine
how difference between model with final letters : CEK e CEL ?
Bought this recently and a pair of Sony Bluetooth headphones aswell, but can't get the headphones to connect up to this record player via Bluetooth and don't know why it's not connecting as there both Sony, has anyone had same issue and problem?
Do internal phono stage of integrated amps need running in? Assuming a 10 year old Marantz amp that has not had its phono stage used for yonks is suddenly being used to just get started into the vinyl hobby.

@@Recordology yup
What was the album that you were playing with the red Mercury label?
That was the album "With Love" by Horst Jankowski.
Hi, this is an MM cartridge, right?
Yes indeed
@@Recordology Thanks, so my daughter got this for cheap; I am looking into upgrading the cartridge because it sounds like it needs to be changed and because I am looking at the Ampapa preamp. Do you recommend one? Or recommend at all to spend in upgrading this and the preamp or save for an MC cartridge? Thanks!
Okay realize that I'm old school okay. That being said, it seems to me that all of these record players or shall we call them turntables because that's what they are. Basically have the same thing inside audio Technica cartridge which is back in the day. The cartridge made the record player. So it's just a matter of whose brand name you want to support whether it be Sony whether it be crosley whether it be audio Technica whoever they're all basically the same units now the novelty unit. That's another story but the basic get the job done. Turntables seem to be basically the same thing and that's not a bad thing. It's just companies going out for your business.
Agreed....
I'd prefer the RCA cable not be hard wired.
I’ve so done this with the title before lol. A quick name while uploading…then…ooops
Lol
so i’m new to the record player community, i bought this player and i noticed that when i let the vinyls play over my jbl soundbox the songs seem to be minimal higher pitched compared to when i play the song on for example spotify, is this normal?
Common but not desirable. The speed is slightly off and that is throwing off the pitch. Sounds like yours is a hair too fast. Look on the bottom for trip pots to adjust the speed - you will need to get either an eye glass repair kit (Walmart) or similar tiny screw driver to make the adjustment. Even better is a non conductive flat head screw driver on Amazon.
@@Recordology Thank you so much for answering, i’ll look for it!!
Hi, thanks for the review im planning on getting this record.player and use it with a samsung music frame, im trying to get the most from both devices. I read that they use different bluetooth codec so that way of connecting them is not my first choice, the problem here is that the samsung music frame only has an optical in and the sony has rca out and the usb B out. My question here is if theres a way to use that usb b output and convert it to optical or to chromecast audio or airplay since the samsung music frame also support thouse. Thanks !
Good question - I dont think so?
@Recordology yeah, i.being looking for an adapter or.soemthing like that with no luck.
How can i connect passive speakers to this ? I have some pioneer Andrew jones speakers any one know of it would be possible to use together?
To use passive speakers you will need a receiver.
A big NO is the fact there is not much to change for a different cartridge on the tonearm because it's one solid piece.
Getting the cartridge of can result in snapping the lead wires wich make the table unusable.
You can swap the stylus wich another type 3600 all the way up to a shibata one, but it's not worth it because this table is too cheap for that segment styluses.
Nice table for people who just get into vinyl or reborn vinyl lovers .. not recommended for advanced users though.
Okay, im a total beginner. Found my dads old vinyl and wanted to get into it. Just for my understanding, this thing has a preamp installed? I hear id need Preamp, Reciever and Speakers. So id need to buy a reciever (i dont even know what that is😅) and Speakers?
If anyone could give me a tip or anything, thanks:)!
this does in fact have a built in pre-amp. I have this turntable, its decent.
@unicorndelicious if you have a preamp you DO need a receiver or a set of powered speakers. And yes SOME receivers have a phono input not all.
@jamjam1131 Welcome! Ok here are the basics: A preamp changes the voltage of the turntable output from PHONO level to LINE level. Line level is the level needed to connect it to powered speakers, soundbar or a receiver which is basically an amplifier for passive speakers. Most modern turntables have a built in preamp. ruclips.net/video/VlP8p8l03M4/видео.htmlsi=d7hmnsQWdKh_DhgC
