- Since Toni is out of town, Cory and I decided this would be a perfect time to build a deer feeder. We purchased a 55 Gallon barrel, a funnel, a timer, solar panel, leg kit and battery. Assembly was NOT as simple as it seemed. But in the end, it turned out great and will a perfect addition to feed the wildlife at R-Ranch.

Looks like that buck hiding in the brush was trying to get to the bird feeder, but you guys wouldn't leave. Hahaha

Thank you. No bears that we know of, we do have hogs, but they have not damaged any feeders yet. Only damage we have had was from a raccoon. Thanks for watching and commenting, we appreciate that.

Didnt the instructions call for a 1.5 inch hole? Not 2.5??
To the best of my recollection the instructions called for a 2.5” hole.
@@r-ranchadventures Manual says 1.5" hole saw, but does the 2.5 work or does it toss out too much feed?

So below the hole is a plastic funnel with a flange that bolts to the bottom of the drum, so no excess corn is spilled or thrown as it is regulated by the opening on the bottom funnel piece.

We got the funnel at Academy, which is a local Sporting Goods Store. They are also available on Amazon.
