    You could always cut the notch out before cutting the pipe to length. Easier to manipulate a 5ft section and more distance between the saw blade and your hand. Great video!

    I like the cartridge design. Mod: Make the elbow a tee. At the bottom, add about 6 inches of pipe so the assembly can be strapped above and below the tee so it will not twist as easily. Of course plug the top of the bottom piece so corn won't just sit in the bottom 6 inches.

    Just found this video, really good idea. I already have a couple feeders out, and the sight gauge nut and weight is a hell of an idea. I'll definitely be incorporating it into mine. Thanks!

    Use the top cap as a scoop into the bags of corn, you can quickly fill the feeder while it stays vertical and strapped to the tree.

    If you tie a piece of flagging tape to the nut on your sight gage it makes it a lot easier to see. I have done it and it works for me.

    I use corrugated drain pipe...it's already made in black, plus it won't smell from the paint. Thx for the "usage gauge" idea....i'll use that....a friend of mine has a vintage two-seater plane and his "gas gauge" is sorta like that....a cork with a thin metal like for flagging water lines in the tank and a cork on top....as he uses gas the float goes down the cork on top keeps the wire from going thru the hole in gas cap.

    • @1982MCI
      @1982MCI 6 лет назад

      Rob. Pickard you can get the pvc in black also and it’s called ABS Pipe and is at Lowe’s and Home Depot also. It is used strictly for drain pipe and has all the same fittings as pvc does but is a tad thinner wall than pvc but won’t matter for this at all.
      Good luck this season!!!!

    Current price in Aug 2020, $22.68 before tax and paint/duct tape. This is without the sight level also. Not bad considering the Moultrie gravity feeder is $20 and the On Time T post is about $50-60. Even the bag that mounts to a tree is $20. You get 2 for that price and I will say it again, THEY WORK AWESOME.

    It is not necessary to mount it 4 feet in the air. Mine sits on a 6" block of wood and works just fine for me. I left my feeder plain white and the deer do not really care. They are just after the corn.

    • @christopherharris3335
      @christopherharris3335 6 лет назад

      No, not anything major anyways. I didn't use the sight because I'm not home enough to check them every week. I work on the river for 22 days at a time. So I'm sure by the time I get home it'll need refilled anyways. I did use some eye bolts at the top of the top of the feeder to hook the straps into for some extra support. But still spent just under $40. Eye bolts were only 75 cents a piece. Almost used a wye fitting instead of the 90 but decided not to.

    • @KIGOutdoors
      @KIGOutdoors  6 лет назад

    Great video. Do you think this could be built and still be functional without the coupler and separate pipe section on the bottom, before the 90 deg secion?

    • @KIGOutdoors
      @KIGOutdoors  6 лет назад

      Hey thanks for the view and comment. So 100% this could be made without the coupler. just leave the top open so you can reload the corn. so the 90 degree elbow will have a wider opening that will allow you to slide the pipe into it. hey thanks for the great feed back!

    • @KIGOutdoors

      So those caps are just 4in sewer pvc caps. but i just looked up a 4in test cap and it was $2.20. I think it will work. might have to glue it though. (not the top cap though) but i was looking at the price of the 4in pvc cap and the price has went up .30 cents. $2.39. nothing get cheaper these days.

    • @MrRconley
      @MrRconley 6 лет назад

      okay thanks. my friend made one with a coffee can and instead of the elbow at the bottom, he cut a small opening, almost like a triangle at the bottom of the pipe so the bait or feed that he used fell out as the deer ate it
