Unfortunately v36 isnt free of a few issues. The yabasanshiro core for Saturn runs slow. We can use the Beetle core for saturn which runs great but it has no upscale option. Another issue only for some though is Atomiswave. If using Flycast with open gl or vulkan api games dont boot. If using LR Flycast with vulkan they dont either and if you use opengl with LR Flycast it will black screen and freeze so you need to force power down. This doesnt happen to everyone but some, including me, and I tried two PC's. Whats odd is Dreamcast and Naomi that also can use Flycast work fine. Also for Jaguar Bigpemu only runs a few of my Jag games, LR Virtual Jaguar runs them all with more options, but then I see BigPemu does run Jag CD games.
Did you try it on your PS7000 already? Would like to know if i should update my PS5000 (v35 installed) and if it's worth the hassle.. i wish some Dreamcast games would run better and more cores would work.
The fix for now for yabasanshiro is use the LR Yabasanshiro core from v35 and place into correct directory and overwrite the LR Yabasanshiro core thats in v36. Then use batocera save overlay so it sticks when you reboot.
Fix for Atomiswave that's not working for some people: For Atomiswave to work again disable the HUD for that system. After that Flycast,LR Flycast,OpenGL or Vulkan all worked fine again. Looks like it may an issue to do with older Intel's but not 100% sure yet Big thanks to Daniel a dev for the help.
Future Pinball high scores were also addressed in this release staying persistent at reboot for tables. Huge win for v36 if you're looking for this functionality in particular as there was no easy fix for this in previous releases.
Years tinkering and tweaking RetroPie setups, have led me to try out Batocera - a night and day difference in setup and ease of use. Love Batocera, next thing to do is add Sinden Lightguns!
version 36 is so perfect. PS3, PS2 runs much smoother and Steam and original xbox are working now very good with very less graphic issues thanks to xemu and proton 7. Version 36 is truly amazing, it made many games now playable and enjoyable just with this update. Thank you Batocera Team :)
When you say that the PS2 and PS3 run smoother, can you provide any specific examples of what you've noticed? I'm afraid to update the Batocera 35 build I just finished with all of the horror stories I've read from people where it breaks random stuff.
@@YUMLiberalTears There are fixes now for both of those issues. For the yaba core to work you need to get the older Libretro Yabasanshiro core from v35 and place it in the Libretro folder and overwrite the new version and use batocera save overlay so it sticks For Atomiswave to work that's only effecting some people is all you need to do is make sure to disable the HUD for that system then it's all working again. Seems the issue maybe caused by older Intels but not 100% sure yet. Thanks to Daniel one of the devs for all the help
I wanted to mention this separately: when batocera 35 was installed on internal harddisk, batocera 36 on boot stick will not boot properly (black screen). I tried this on 6 different computers. So backup and remove older boot partitions. This occurs for version 36 only.
Thanks for the video, but for my needs, I am sticking with v33. v35 created a lot of problems including bluetoooth connection issues. I only need to play 8,16 bit, Neo Geo and final burn.
I upgraded and it created an issue with Switch emulation. I kept seeing a pop up about openGL drivers. I couldn’t use Vulcan either, it would freeze. I had to go back to 35 but hopefully you’ll have a Switch guide like last time.
### EDIT: i am an idiot, found the problem. Version 36 boots into black screen if an older batocera boot partition is on internal harddisk. You could dual boot Version 34 and 35 though, so that has changed. Backup and remove Version 35 boot partition before trying Version 36!### Original message: -## Your channel is awesome. Batocera is awesome! 👍👏 I have a lot of hardware to test on and ran with version 36 into gpu issues with following setups: black screen at startup with internal amd gpu (athlon 300u, ryzen 2200g) and with dedicated amd rx570 and nvidia gtx970. It starts on a nvidia 3060ti and on any intel igpu. In most cases xserver dont start but console with altF3 available. Lspci -nnk shows device with no driver. Config options as described on batocera homepage dont help. On all systems batocera 35 started with no issues and without changes to config. Must be something with the gpu driver selection code. I share this only (no complaint at all!) in case someone else has same hardware. Before update your main system try a usb bootstick. I am totally happy with 35 atm. I will give feedback to batocera team if they are interested.
Thank you dear Batocera Team! Great job as always! if someone is interested: tested some setups for both xenia + xenia canary xenia for xbox 360 emulation works with - RTX 3070, Intel 630 HD doesn´t work (in my systems) with amd - RX 550 4GB, and an older 7000er series radeon There is an error message in all tested games after the intro with WINE 7.2 and maybe needs some linux files/dependencies, idk. and: a small hp 705 with integrated vega 8 starts the games but with graphical issues. not playable at the moment. I know that vega 8, 7000er radeon is sure too weak for ps3 emulation, but RX 550 should do it. Just say. No critics. I am happy so far. I know xenia is not native linux , it´s wine. PS3 shader caching is much faster and Cemu works perfect! Thank you always for the possible newest emulators especially pcsx2 and cemu! These are fantastic!
Excellent summary. I was particularly excited to see the images being available for the Orange Pi 5, which loaded fine but sadly, whenever I attempt to load any game, the initial graphic screen comes up but remains static and nothing else going on, resulting in a need to hard power off. But I am sure that it will be improved and be useable soon enough.

Hopefully there will be a compatible switch emu setup for v36. My only problem is that even with the display out option now set to auto by default, neither my laptop's displayport or hdmi output to an external monitor work. Do you have any hints regarding how to get BigPEmu to run in Batocera 36? I have tried to go into the advanced settings for the console and change the emulator from Auto to BigPEmu, but when I try to launch a game, Batocera hung the system and it needed to be force shut down with the power switch. After rebooting, when I try to run a Jaguar game Batocera shows a splash screen, flickers, then the game audio plays but there is no picture. I'm running Batocera on an Atari VCS. I can manually launch BigPEmu with a terminal and Wine64, and it works fine. Something about how Batocera is launching the emulator is not working for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Since batocera 36 is now officially compatible with the steam deck, is it safe to update from the steam deck running batocera 36 dev version, or should a fresh isntall be needed?
Hi everyone hopefully someone can help me. I have an older m.2 drive in an enclosure with batocera 36 installed on it. I boot up from the drive and all is fine except the network connection. It gets an ip address via ethernet but still wont connect to the network. Any suggestions ???
Is there any way to get the ethernet port working from the get-go with batocera, or will this require me to load up another os and activate a static ip address?
Can anyone tell me what exactly will change from my current settings, themes, etc. if I update? Also, many games such as 3ds I had to manually scrape ams fear losing all that time. He mentioned that my Wii U files may no longer work.
unfortunately the bump to RPCS3 v0.0.25 broke on me. the performance improvements are super amazing but I now have rendering issues. tried v0.0.27 outside of Batocera to confirm the compatibility regression & reported it to the developers!
You only need additional bios files if the devs add new systems, and if that system needs bios files, and also if you intend to add games for that system. Another reason would be when sometimee devs make changes as to where some bios files are added. And rarely when new types are needed. So for eg if you are on v38 now and you intend to update to v39 when the stable version is released everything you have now should still work as it has been. With the exception for ps2 for v39,cause the changelog for pcsx2 on v39 Batocera says ps2 bios files now go into share/bios/ps2 Rather than just share/bios. Also, I think one additional ps2 bios file is needed. Thats what I mean when I said sometimes the devs change things around a bit, and you may need additional bios files. What you can do is after you update, run the missing bios check setting and see if you have any missing. Then you can search for those and add them. Or just search for Batocera v39 bios set, to be sure 😊.
Hi, after the update I now have a problem with Yuzu. Because of the openGL drivers, there is always a popup. Currently I can no longer play switch games in version 36. Is there a solution to this without having to go back to version 35? ... Thx for the Video.

I love your vids appreciate your work. I do need help adding mame roms to batocera so I can complete my home arcade I’ve been struggling for months trying to figure it out. I just upgraded to v36 just now.
ruclips.net/video/5kPvUYnf55k/видео.html (Mame install Batocera Nation) ruclips.net/video/p8EARNSOGI0/видео.html (Mame Roms Explained by Bytes n Bits) ruclips.net/video/KSKvQceg2Gc/видео.html (Mame install Explained by Bytes n Bits) Not better or worse, just explained differently Spent a whole weekend recently studying the confusing complexity of Mame. My best advice is to figure out how much space you want to use. under 100G or close to 1TB. For Pi 3's Mame Romset 2003 (0.78) reference set seems to work best and uses less space, as is in the above video. I also learned alot more just by downloading the actual Mame emulator and getting the romsets to work on it before integrating into any front ends (Batocera / Launchbox etc.) Non-Merged sets sometimes give "missing bios" errors. That could be a missing Parent/Clone (explained in the above videos) Merged Sets shouldn't get bios errors, but anything can be possible from time to time. I think one of the videos mentions a website that tells you what exact bios or CHDs are needed for each individual game, that can help you solve any missing file issues. Running Mame Romset (0.78) flawlessly in Batocera. The Batocera bios are specifically for the systems I believe. You will still need the Mame bios files and CHDs from the Romsets copied over to the Mame folder in Batocera. Running Mame 0.244 with Romset 0.243 in Launchbox without issues, other than lack of hardrive space now...Hope that helps.
I'm looking EVERYWHERE AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO CHANGE THE RESOLUTION (my tv will only use 1360x768 anything else is cutt off i cant see most of the menus.
What is the res of the TV you are using?1080 or 4k? So you want to set Batocera display resolution to match right? (Rendering resolution is different and done per emulator) So to set display resolution on a global system wide setting press start/games/video mode and select what res you need there. If only shows res option still max at 1360x768 even though your TV has higher res then something is wrong. Not sure what's causing that.

Tested it on a lot of hardware. 36 is booting into black screen on most of my computers. Its a gpu issue, i suspect it has to do with wayland. What gpu do you use?
It stopped my non-installer windows games working (Linux USB version) Solitaire, Minesweeper, Rattler etc... if anyone has a fix please let me know,Thanks.

I just updated from 35 just now, and it worked flawlessly. My only problem is that even with the display out option now set to auto by default, neither my laptop's displayport or hdmi output to an external monitor work. The laptop screen blanks out as if it was switching, but the monitor saya no signal. Any tips on how to solve this issue? I thought it might fix itself with 36, but I've been having it since 35.

What's new in Batocera 36..... broken sound if all you have is HDMI. Tried on 2 different PCs. I keep a full updated backup image so going back to 35 was easy. I'll set out the updates until 37 comes out.
I have Batocera on a kinhank HDD, Linux version. I have many questions! Anything on your playlist that can help me? Or, can you point me in the right direction?
Great video, any info on Switch emulation in V36?
no official support. I have Qt issues in dolphin and RPCS3 if I boot Yuzu first. rebooting is my current workaround.
Batocera suport taito x or nessica ?
i have a question about using this OS on HP 6005 pro MT with Quadro FX 4600 can it run PS3 and Switch or it wont?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
great videos!!! has been alot of help is it possible to do a tutorial on setting up the vpn on it
will my wiimotes stop working with the mayflash wii bar if I update to Batocera 35,36?
Спасибо за информацию...
Since batocera 36 is now officially compatible with the steam deck, is it safe to update from the steam deck running batocera 36 dev version, or should a fresh isntall be needed?
always good news
Hi everyone hopefully someone can help me. I have an older m.2 drive in an enclosure with batocera 36 installed on it. I boot up from the drive and all is fine except the network connection. It gets an ip address via ethernet but still wont connect to the network. Any suggestions ???
Finally
Updated to v36 but it loops loading collections. Even booting up a live usb does the same thing.
36 for Pi4 wont let you boot on a CRT though
Can u help my batocera on steam deck not connecting bluetooth controller
Is there any way to get the ethernet port working from the get-go with batocera, or will this require me to load up another os and activate a static ip address?
Is there a way in Batocera to play a random game from one's collection?
Do a video on dual boot batocera nad win11
What is ur pc specs?
Hi all, can anyone tell me how I connect my PC with Batocera to an a 2 player arcade setup, and any brand recommendations?
You know how to fix samba? It's broken from 3 versions ago at least
Can anyone tell me what exactly will change from my current settings, themes, etc. if I update? Also, many games such as 3ds I had to manually scrape ams fear losing all that time. He mentioned that my Wii U files may no longer work.
Run it on a System with a RTX4080?
unfortunately the bump to RPCS3 v0.0.25 broke on me. the performance improvements are super amazing but I now have rendering issues. tried v0.0.27 outside of Batocera to confirm the compatibility regression & reported it to the developers!
When upgrading batocera through the interface, once I’ve upgraded do I need new bios files specific to that upgraded version?
You only need additional bios files if the devs add new systems, and if that system needs bios files, and also if you intend to add games for that system.
Another reason would be when sometimee devs make changes as to where some bios files are added.
And rarely when new types are needed.
So for eg if you are on v38 now and you intend to update to v39 when the stable version is released everything you have now should still work as it has been.
With the exception for ps2 for v39,cause the changelog for pcsx2 on v39 Batocera says ps2 bios files now go into share/bios/ps2
Rather than just share/bios.
Batocerans? I like it. Im in
Vita on pi4b or just x86?
Was looking for this last night and here it is lol #PiDay
Sega model 2 doesn't work anymore for me and I have problems with model 3 as well
Does anyone know which is better to run on Steam Deck: Batocera or Emudeck?
If i update to Batocera 36 will i loose any game saves?
Hi,
after the update I now have a problem with Yuzu. Because of the openGL drivers, there is always a popup. Currently I can no longer play switch games in version 36. Is there a solution to this without having to go back to version 35? ... Thx for the Video.
If I download an iso and the emulators does not run it, how can I fix it ?
I need help I can't load into batocero it always let's me somewhat load in then the screen.goes kinda black and just sits their it's also very choppy and my pc is pretty decent and can run high-end games
I have the same problem I even flashed the sd card 3 times and same issue always happens when I reboot it to see if it has any issues.
I've got a Batocera drive for my Steam Deck but Bluetooth controllers won't pair.
Will 8tb Batocera hard drives run better now? I flashed an 8tb hdd with 35 and it ran slow but it ran fine on a 4 tb drive. Thanks
From what I read theres no limit on the size of hdd you can use anymore. This was true for some time now.
Your 8TB should of run Batocera just fine.
I read a post on reddit where someone said he was using a 16TB hdd just fine.
Are you sure the 8TB hdd you are using is not faulty maybe?
Sensacional
I love your vids appreciate your work. I do need help adding mame roms to batocera so I can complete my home arcade I’ve been struggling for months trying to figure it out. I just upgraded to v36 just now.

ruclips.net/video/KSKvQceg2Gc/видео.html (Mame install Explained by Bytes n Bits) Not better or worse, just explained differently
Spent a whole weekend recently studying the confusing complexity of Mame. Running Mame 0.244 with Romset 0.243 in Launchbox without issues, other than lack of hardrive space now...Hope that helps.
best channel. wow!
How do you map the controller to a particular game only? Is this possible?
I made 2 comments here but both were auto deleted by yt for some reason.
Basically if you have a look at the Batocera wiki it has info on that.
(Rendering resolution is different and done per emulator)
So to set display resolution on a global system wide setting press start/games/video mode and select what res you need there. If only shows res option still max at 1360x768 even though your TV has higher res then something is wrong.
Not sure what's causing that.
@@fonzitheman it claims to be 720p but its like 1340x720 or something similar and it has problems with any other size
I have an AMD pc, I installed batocera on a spare SSD but whenever I install it doesn't finish or run after the first boot just a black screen, anyone knows how to fix that? thanks
Waiting for Tennoparrot for more light gun games
Hi there all. Batocera is anwsome I have been use to retropie for a while and can say that batocera is just amazing in comparison. Only gripe my rpi3b+ plus crashing during game browsing sometimes. Can anyone help with this v35
how to setup batocera to CM4
Sadly I tried v36 multiple times. won't boot on my machine. i tried with multiple drives and all i got was a black screen. i'm sticking to v35 for now. i've tried upgrading, downloading it separately, nothing works.
