The chemistry between Pedro, and Bella is just unbelievable. They really became their character this episode.
The series is great, but I keep my opinion on Bella Ramsey. She is the wrong actress to represent Ellie.
@@ytatman3218why is that?
@@jonathankeeley6184 She doesn't look like Ellie from the game. It kills the vibe for me.
@@ytatman3218 its an adaptation. she doesnt have to look like ellie in the game
@@Adrian-pl3ui I didn't say that she has to look like her. They did a good job on Joel and they could have done the same with Ellie. I mean she literally has no similarities with Ellie.
The set design needs to win an award. They really captured what it's like to be in Kansas city👏🏾🏆
I got yelled at by a homeless chick who barely spoke any intelligible language downtown and felt like I fell into the show today.
The garage was like the game. I wanted Joel to go to the workbench 😂
Lmao
With all the construction and homeless people feel like I'm in a warzone every time I go downtown 😛
And thats pre fall...welcome to the liberal apocalypse...soon china will make it a real one
Seeing Ellie and Joel crack up near the end of the episode was my highlight of the episode. There were so many amazing moments with Joel warming up to Ellie and being all supportive dad like but the giggling just really took the cake and it makes me super stoked to watch them grow closer over the course of the show
Then its ends with "true faith" from the last of us 2 *chef kiss*

Can't wait for:
Ellie: "He tried to-"
Joel: "Oh, baby girl... It's okay. It's okay now."
Joe had a breakthrough, Ellie need's and want's his compassion and love so, badly.
Or when she asked him if they were going to be safe, and before that question he was going to sleep but then he stayed awake, maybe afraid of not being able to keep her safe. In the game when he tries to make Tommy take her to the Butterflies, he says that he doesn't trust himself to keep her safe. So we know how Joel feels because of what he had been through with his daughter and with Tess.
Did you guys also notice the reason Joel didn't hear the glass was because he was sleeping on his left ear?
Oh my god yes, when joel talked about that it got me thinking about what they had planned with mentioning that, so when i realized he was sleeping on his good ear it made me love that small detail 🙏
It was more or less spoon-fed
Wasn't he tired?
Joel got attached to Ellie, so he slept facing her. 😊 And that led to what you said.
He also was out as a light because the past night he couldn't sleep while they were in the woods, incredible foreshadowing
Joel finally cracking up at Ellie's pun was the best scene of this episode, kind of solidified the relationship built throughout the previous episodes.
2:36 Craig understands the characters SO well! I love the way he describes them, how he describes what they feel, what they do and why they do it. Such an amazing episode, the relationship between Joel and Ellie is developing beautifully, I can't explain how happy I am with this show, congratulations
mannnn one of the best stories ever told I cant wait to see how this goes
You can tell he's passionate about this project. we can have faith in him for the rest of the 5 episodes. 🙌😆
Bro he is the creator, he understands everything top to bottom:D
@Róbert Hunka he's not creator of the game. These characters have existed way before he put his hand on them.

I love how as a gamer.. we still dont know whats coming sometimes. Like if youve played the game.. you know everything... but they still find ways to change it or add to it that makes it feel fresh and fun. And still pepper easter eggs in ... like the voice actors from the game all having smaller roles at one point or another. Thats fun. The Henry and Sam part is a very memorable part from the game so i'm super stoked to see how this new expanded story they have will play out.
is kathleen from the game? because her character felt off in such a realistic world theyve created
Lets take a moment to appreciate pedro pascal's subtle acting, his silent reactions to ellie are superb👌
Falling in love with these characters all over again! They kept the "No Pun Intended"! So great ❤
I’m so happy they used the works of Mr livingston
This show is getting better and better, Completely immersed in this
Stop lying, Joel in the show makes so many mistakes. If it was me. I would have handcuffed Ellie to me so she wouldn’t walk away. Also this episode was way too long for me. Scenes dragged on and I was falling asleep. Also Joel honestly was too slow to reload his rifle, doesn’t that rifle have stripper clips? Also doesn’t Joel have a revolver? Why didn’t he use it, instead of Ellie trying to save him. Me and my dad would have destroyed the bandits in this episode
@@artyom5659 the reason that joel didn't handcuff ellie cuz in the game he didn't so if they would have done that in the show people would have gotten sooo mad
@@artyom5659 and for me its was pretty short it felt like 10 minutes but its ur opinion and also i think joel didn't use the revolver as it would have been too late for him to pick the revolver out of his pocket cuz the hunter was about to shoot him right in the face so he did had to push him off or he would be dead
Yeah ok zombies in every other episode lol so stupid and boring
@@artyom5659 You would have handcuffed another person to yourself in an extremely dangerous post-apocalyptic situation where the ability to move fast and freely is key to survival and self-defence? Yeah, you and your dad would do just great…
This was the first episode that this Ellie started to come into her own for me. First episode was Joel's, second belonged to the infected, third obviously Bill and Frank. But we finally got to crawl into Ellies skin, and it was great!
Joel and Ellie laughing together at the end is easily my favourite moment of the series so far. I absolutely adore Pedro’s more vulnerable take on Joel and I love that Bella’s take on Ellie is more willing to lean on Joel for support and show emotions around him. I’m so happy these two were cast.
The little wholesome moment between Ellie and Joel laughing just made MY day just so you know HBO
this show just keeps getting better and better love it
Episode 3 was its own little gem that'll be hard to beat. But seeing the relationship between Joel and Ellie grow is just its own fantastic journey.
Fantastic episode
I've seen so many criticisms of Joel's choices this episode, like not seeing the "obvious" trap as if the point of a trap wasn't to be unnoticeable. People seem to forget that Joel is both sleep deprived from the night before and in a hurry to get to Tommy, which makes him not think that rationally.
I find it so weird how people are quick to judge a clear setup episode like this, which is part of a set of episodes, on its own like it didn't accomplish enough. Like, dude, there's more stuff coming, we need to set things up before they go all out, especially the relationship between Joel and Ellie, which was the highlight this episode.
Bella Ramsey is absolutely nailing the role man. Her interactions with Pedro are so endearing (and yet still true to Ellie's character) I could watch an entire episode of them just hanging out and love every second
I didn’t like her at first but I am so in love with this series! She embodies Ellie, as does Pedro as Joel. I’m hooked!
I just can't believe how much this show feels and looks like the game. It's incredible.
This is the best episode yet! Pedro and Bella are the perfect combo! 😍
I honestly can't believe they got the guy who played as Tommy from the first two last of Us games into the show how awesome is that guys?!😊😲
You are up for a lot more surprises in future episodes!!
Real Ellie, Real Joel and Tommy any many more from game all are in this season playing different characters
That's how you show respect to the source material and/or original movie/series...
Another fantastic ep. Pedro and Bella ARE Joel and Ellie. Next episode looks even crazier 💯💯💯
This was the first episode we're Ellie and Joel really started bonding
Man I was so focused and my eyes glued to the screen that 45 mins went by like nothing.
Same. I was ready for another 30-45 minutes at least!
That was the shortest episode of the season so far, and I wanted it to last for another 15 minutes. Dang wanted to see more! Next week after the Super Bowl I guess.
Time flies when your having fun 😉
@Super Trendy Money Maker next episode will probs be over an hour lots of story to tell
@@supertrendymoneymaker0722 It'll remain the shortest ep until the finale. Which is only 43 min surprisingly
Great episode, loved all of Ellie's puns.
The Ellie shooting scene was hard to watch
Melanie is amazing. She's such a lovely, warm person that seeing her as this villain is SO NICE. Can't wait for more of her scenes.
She was awful in this, extremely unconvincing.
@@POOTY-TVNG i didn’t like her in this either. i thought it was just me and i kinda felt bad, but i truly didn’t think her acting was good at all. it was pretty bad and stood out to me the most
4:09 neil already giving us a hint about what's coming in the future. i'm really excited for the upcoming episodes, can't wait for them i need them right now
I hope they do a better job at it than in the game. Playing Abby after the incident didn't allow us to humanize her as we were all still fuming at what she did. I think the show will be able to make watchers really connect to her before wrenching at our heart strings with what she does; and we will sympathise with what she did
@@ForzaOwnz thats the genius of the game though, you reject abby at first because you hate her character. Its only when your forced to get her perspective that you can understand that the enemies are just humans as well as us.
@@bolt4685 its not genius at all
@@bolt4685 stop trying to act cool just because the game got a lot of critics of the pacing

This episode really got me choked up a bit. I didn't expect this to be the episode to get me choked up but finally starting seeing the bond between Ellie and Joel brings me back. The laugh at the joke felt heartwarming. Also the desperation if the young man Ellie killed hit me. It really shows you there is really no good or bad in this world. Killing isn't exactly a victory. You see the effects of it and it isn't pretty.
This is amazing to see Jeffrey from the game after 10 years.
❣️❣️❣️
she's finally starting to break his walls down
i absolutely loved Melanie Lynskey in this. She's really soft spoken and the characters she play just fits her so well.
Already looking forward to the continuation of The Last Of Us. Killer series!😎
Jeffrey looks f*cking INCREDIBLE
They took my heart, it was heart warming plus I cried, seeing them interact the way they did. I love them both!
this is so well made. Thankful to witness gems of series still air these days.

Neil: "I love humanizing villains."
Yo, these next 2-3 seasons will be fire, given how much they're fleshing everything out. This from a guy that's finished the 2nd game.
couldn't agree any more. Can't wait for season 2 and 3.
I don't get people like you 😅
IMO. They need to humanize Abby before she kills ****
....Or its gonna be hate fest all over again.
Neil did not tell perfect story in part 2. Now he can expand and fix. Can't wait!
@@JasperJHNS Yeah, the story was and still is amazing, but it's not quite perfect. If they fix that one small issue, it prevents it from snowballing into something that ruins the entire story later on. If they manage to do that, then the general population will love it, and if they don't, then It'll still be amazing, just not as amazing as it could have been. The sad thing is that even if they fix every single issue in TLoU2, even down to the minor and pedantic issues, to the point that the story IS perfect, it won't stop the hate from people who didn't like the game. No matter how good they make the story, it cannot and will not stop the horde of angry "fans" from hating it for existing in the first place. I just wish that people will go into it without refusing to sympathise with Abby before she even appears on screen, because currently everybody seems to have gone into the mindset of "I won't like her character, no matter how likeable she is in the series, because If I don't like her, then the story will be bad, and if the story is bad, then I can continue calling Neil Druckman a cuck instead of admitting I was wrong, and that he listened to us."
@@JasperJHNS I doubt he will fix it
This was a fantastic episode. The show really found its groove here in my opinion. 3 hammered the themes of human connection and won our hearts. This one was kinda what we signed up for.
4 Episodes In And Each One Is Freaking Amazing!!!!
I’m really happy they showed why the militia of Kansas city became the villains. It’s because of some misplaced vengeance and revenge. In the game, they never explained why the people were so violent. In a way, this foreshadows Part 2.
I mean they kinda do, but only through notes and you have to kinda piece it together yourself.
I was a little sad to see them change the location from my hometown (Pittsburgh) but I get why they made the change. Loving the series so far!
there bonding is perfect the last one is epic when they both laughed ❤❤❤
I finally just watched this series. it's a bomb! the relational evolution between joel and ellie is finely done. the mutual attachment that is built between them is reinforced with each ordeal they encounter. very endearing characters. I do not know the video game but I became addicted to this series.
The bridge at the beginning runs through my hometown! Pretty cool for me to see.
This show is awesome, the story line and cast just gels so well with the video game.
100%
so glad we don't have to wait a week for the next ep....will def be watchin thurs night >:)
It won't be out until friday at 9pm est.
So glad to see Jeffrey in this episode! He looks fantastic
Amazing episode ❤ so good to see Jeffrey on it!!!!
Even though I know what’s going to happen because I played both games, it’s still great to see what else they add to the series.
More great character development on every level (the character of our protagonists, of the ruined world, of the KC resistance people). Not as brilliant or satisfying as ep3, but still incredibly strong writing and acting and production. Thank you respecting your story and your audience - no spoon-feeding, no needless fan service, no pandering to the lowest common denominator with pointless jump scares or gore for shock value. And finally a show with more to say than just "zombies bad, humans worse, guns are fun".
Great episode
Joel riendo 🥺 eso fue hermoso 💗
Okay but did Y'all hear true faith during the credits? it was so goodddd
This is the comment I came here for. Was happily surprised when True Faith began playing as the credits rolled.
YES!

I literally lolled when Ellie pulled out the punbook..
That and the "adult" magazine scene which was pretty much one to one from the game.

Each week just gets better and better. Cant wait for when all the episodes are out and im going to watch it all in one sitting all the time like a movie just like how i play the games all the time. I love the last of us so much best story ever imo
Much better than the last episode and my favourite so far
Light-years better as this felt much more like the video game with a faithful adaptation and expansion of the source material. Frank hated Bill in the source material and HBO just decided to make an elaborate EMMY award play with the production of episode three.
Plot twist: meanwhile, in Albuquerque, Saul Goodman and Associates became the main law firm in Albuquerque after the outbreak. HHM, S&C and D&M, all have fallen. Bill Oakley became a partner in Saulʼs law firm.
I LOVE that Melanie Lynskey is cast to play a seemingly rough and tough rebel leader, because these characters aren't usually portrayed by characters like Melanie, who's very soft-spoken and gentle in person, and in the other characters she plays. I can't wait to see how her story unfolds!
She was terrible as the villain, Had no fearful, commanding presence at all. Maybe a more typecast actor would have been appropriate
Great episode, although last week was a hard one to try and top.

I agree as it starts off slow but carries on from the previous episode with Joel and Elle all loaded up and well-equipped with a hope of success as they face the unknown horrors ahead. They we get a great video game sequence adaptation in Kansas City with the truck crashing into that laundry mat.
I am so glad they did the truck scene. That is one cutscene that made the game. Also, it made the episode very punny(cue no pun intended part too)
"Whether they're heroes or villains really pretends on your perspective." This sentence rounds up the last of us so well.

10/10 episode which isnt surprising
Sort of sad to not see the "He ain't even hurt" line when he's driving the truck. Why was that changed? Its so iconic and memorable, one of the best lines.
Hm, interesting insight, appreciate it, can’t wait to see what happens next.
Neil saying "I love humanizing villians" hits different lol
This upcoming Henry and Sam arch episode will be an intense one. Bloater too? 👀
Wasn't super into the previous episodes (when I would have already been engaged in the game at that point in the story), but I liked this episode. It finally shows a turning point in Ellie and Joel's relationship. The added drama of showing that the hunters are humans too is a nice touch, and the differences between the game and show were not worse. Something that has always grabbed me about The Last of Us is its realistic, relatable setting which adds to the sadness of it all, and I liked that too in this episode. I wish it was a bit longer.
THIS IS SUCH A DAMN GOOD SHOW! The integrity of it gives me high hopes for the red dead redemption live action series

Neil is one of the worst and wrong people to say that lol. He did alot of wrong things. Thankfully it’s not in this game (TLOU1)
@@jackjohn4156 seems to me what he's describing here is exactly what he did in part II and one of the (dumb) reasons he got hate and death threats
@@greetlings Yet he failed at it miserably. However he describes it, he didn’t make a good story in part 2 for multiple reasons. All of the plot was either plot convenience or plot armour. He didn’t make enough people to accept the new characters.
The Hank Williams made me smile! 😁
So nice to see what happened to Rose after she moved to England.
Oh... Hey, neighbor!
I think this show is amazing! It is really selling the idea of the grey moral area everyone has been forced to live in. Everyone is the hero in their own story. Is Joel a "good" person? Well he's all but admitted he's done terrible things. We're Bill and Frank "good" people? Think of all the people they could have helped shelter in their little town. Is Kathleen (spelling?) A good person? Seems pretty bad but from the little back story we get it seems she has her reasons. If you can feel empathy for a character then you can understand their reasons. I'm sure we will run into purely evil characters like David eventually but I've been able to relate to almost anyone that's been given screentime.
I like the games and like the movie and I've been waiting for the movie for a long time. I'm waiting for the next episode, it will definitely be more tense like the games
Incredible👍👍👏👏
The show is getting so much more insanely good ....
This episode was pure comedy. Couldn't stop laughing. Sam as a teenage mutant ninja turtle was the icing on the cake for me!
Thought he was a superhero like his drawings earlier.
I just love the realism. It’s such a surreal honest experience of what it’s like to live inside the state of ohio on a daily basis.
I love how Kathleen is all soft spoken mom in her way of speaking, but so ruthless in her actions, cool juxtaposition
Increíble , perfecto
Geeez, I knew I recognized Perry’s voice somewhere. That’s god damn tommy in the game 😂
Melanie Lynskey didn’t sell me her character yet but I will be patient and give her a chance. This show is turning out to be everything I could want in a video game to show adaptation. I love it and can not wait to see what they do with the brothers. Be ready newcomers, it gets even better.
What's the name of the track playing during the first 30 seconds of the video?
"I love humanizing villains. And so much of TLoU is about people that have to make choices, and whether they're heroes or villains really depends on your perspective." The Last of Us in a nutshell. Especially in Part II.
