This group helped save me... no messing.. i was an alcoholic, way overweight, hadnt liked myself in a long time. Listening to these guys changed my life, i have not drank in nearly 12 months and i have lost 30kg in weight. Music can literally save your life... makes you think. If anyone is having a hard time.. i hope you can get out of it in the right way. Never be too hard on yourself for what you have or have not done, a positive change no matter how small will build into a big one before you realise :)
Man. 5 or 6 years ago I got clean again for the upteenth time. And these guys were the only thing that gave me peace for the Longest time. Man. Takes me back. Hope all is well 🙏🏽
I am from Iceland and I have never liked Country Music but this (I know it is by definitinon not Country Music) but MO has just captivated me and open my mind to American folk music and Bluegrass. I am now a devoted fan. Thank you Mandolin Orange for an amazing music.
Contrary to popular belief, bluegrass music is real country music, as is old outlaw country music..todays "country" music (aside from a few) are just wannabe country singers who sing country-themed Pop music. Cheers from Missouri
Lived in Nashville my whole life and can say that pop country is NOT country. Bluegrass, folk, and Appalachian roots will always provide the best and purest southern music.
Setting playing and dejimbe at a fire at an after party for a wedding one night...guy slipped in beside me with a mandolin and just killed for better than an hour. No matter how fast or slow I played, he stayed right with me...we spoke a bit a long the way...he was so humble, kind and an awesome player...about a month later I mentioned it to a friend of mine and learned that the wonderful soul was Andrew marlin....
Thank you Mandolin Orange for your beautiful music, which comes from the heart and that we like a lot. Your musical style is a mixture between folk music, Classic Country and Bluerass. Thank you for sharing.
This was my first introduction to their music years ago. I was instantly hooked. Amazing singing and playing. Andrew’s mandolin style reminds me more of Irish folk music than it does of bluegrass.
Bought tickets (so reasonably priced!) for whole extended family to see them in London 2019! Only joined fan newsletter 2 days before tickets went on sale. Meant to be! These guys, Alison Krauss & band and transatlantic sessions have raise music to the highest level! So grateful to be able to access their music via RUclips
This might just be the greatest American song I’ve ever heard and this band does an amazing job of it. My mandolin player and I are going to give it a shot at our next show.
I love so many songs by Mandolin Orange. Their style is refreshing, especially now more than ever. Great story's if you listen. Love y'all, come to South Carolina!!! Pls
Most of the performances from this group gets millions (+) of views. I took a look to see how many albums they have sold. I'm devastated at how little it is in comparison. If you like their music, do them a favour and buy it 👍🏻
I took my wife to see them in concert. I was awesome. That's how I think modern day musicians make their money, and if I think about it, it seems more fitting. I think of this -- I hope they get some $$ per listen -- as advertisements for the concerts. :-)
I've had the wonderful pleasure of sitting front row and hearing Joe Newberry perform, including this splendid song. I would love to attend another of Joe's live performances some day. This delightful couple does his composition full justice. Bravo! Brava!
i re-discovered u guys after my Dad passed away unexpectedly in my hometown in Arizona....he moved me out to Missouri 9 years ago to be with my wife and 1 yr. old daughter.....he called Missouri...'God's Country'....in the 9yrs...i added two more children to my clan...Thanks Dad for re-uniting me and my family...
oh I love this kind of music. It must be in my DNA. My great grandfather was from Missouri, an outlaw of sorts, came across the plains in 1844 with just the shirt on his back... settled in California in the mountains of Humboldt County after spending several years blazing trails, making trouble, and doing some pretty bad things.
Brilliant!!! This is just a beautiful piece of music, great musicians telling a story of life in MO., back in the rough and tough times maybe before or shortly after the Civil War. Anyhow I would love to see and hear Mandolin Orange, please come to KC and try some of the best BBQ anywhere! Brisket, pulled pork, and the ribs are all really hard to beat! Thanks for posting!
As an alternative, now known as Watchhouse, they are regulars at GMBR (Green Mountains Bluegrass & Roots) Festival, mid-August in Manchester VT. You'll find YT vids of them there, and also of "Mighty Poplar" band (inc Andrew.) As good as it gets.
After the line at 3:45 "...when my mother sees me dead," that sweet mandolin slide that jumps to the third of the key (an E note) is enough to make me want to learn to play mandolin.
Great duet and band....their songs and lyrics tell wonderful stories....wonderful voices that complement each other and on top of all that, they are both accomplished on a variety of instruments
As a guy that has seen the elephant I love this one .I am a descendant of Bloody Bill Anderson as well as of 7 brothers in the 1st Minnesota Infantry all KIA .RIP Uncle Bill 1864 Centralia Missouri with his 72 notched colt Navy revolver and 32 human scalps.Lets not repeat that there civil war!
Unbelievable. Found this (and all their performances) recently on RUclips. This song in particular reminds me of Long Black Veil originally from Johnny Cash, and later redone by others including Dave Matthews Band. Haunting and honest with tragedy. There is nothing like great story telling through song.

Thank you for this today, I needed it
You picked the right group. They have lots to say about the human experience. Good work on your part. Good luck to you.
One day at a time friend. Life is good!! Embrace your sobriety!! Find God, and you shall have peace!!
Amen 🔥Leave that poison behind and never take that first sip ever again

Just came back to watch this for the 400th time. Never gets old.
I'm going to play this again right after this. Andrew looks good in long hair or short.
I’m here for about the 170th time 🙌
Swear to god
Same
Exactly!

Check out Sierra Ferrell's music. You're welcome.
Lived in Nashville my whole life and can say that pop country is NOT country. Bluegrass, folk, and Appalachian roots will always provide the best and purest southern music.
Keep searching for these amazing Americana gems... there are so many but you gotta find em.
It's music.
I’m 69, an old folkie. A Dylan lover. A lover of JSBach. All I can say is there is hope in the young and music.
Thank you
You should check out Gypsy Moon, Caribou Mountain Collective, and Elephant Revival then too!

Indeed !!
As a man in his 40's, who was raised on Dylan, I've seen my slow train coming. Hats off to this band and to you kind sir.
This is how you serve the song! Exactly what the song called for and nothing more. No added sugar or preservatives. Just whole grain goodness!
Love your comment.

A friend introduced me to this band, my life is so much richer now!
I just discovered these two on my own, can't believe I have not heard of them sooner
I can never seem to get enough of this raw, natural, elegantly played music.
It lifts my spirit every day!
Thank you so much!
☘️✅👍💜💜💜
There might not be anything in this world sweeter than that mandolin.
Agreed, Mr. Marlin is brilliant.
Emily's voice!
He plays a classy mando.
Yes there is. That girl on guitar.
Check out Barn Swallows, “Born for this World”; if you liked this mandolin playing, I think you’ll like that as well.
Here come those chills again....happen whenever I hear these two sing, either alone or together. Sweet, sweet stuff...
Thank you Mandolin Orange for your beautiful music, which comes from the heart and that we like a lot. Your musical style is a mixture between folk music, Classic Country and Bluerass. Thank you for sharing.

a union for the ages, they can only get better and better
I can't imagine how pleasant the scent of leather boots and the sweet sounds of Mandolin Orange would blend together in that room.

Keep coming back to this song. Magic performance.
This might just be the greatest American song I’ve ever heard and this band does an amazing job of it. My mandolin player and I are going to give it a shot at our next show.
Thank you for your kind words. I'd love to hear what y'all do with my song!
Joe Newberry's one really good guy, IMO. When I asked him about Andrew & Emily, his eyes really lit up. Major respect both ways.
I can't stop the tears - this has touched me so much. Beautiful. :)
Beautiful... #JoeNewberry referred me to this Cover... Well done.
Andrew plays that mandolin so effin' brilliantly. You guys are incredible. Thanks so much
I love so many songs by Mandolin Orange. Their style is refreshing, especially now more than ever. Great story's if you listen. Love y'all, come to South Carolina!!! Pls
I’m so damn far from home, and Missouri is home. Thank you for this track. I listen to it very often.
I miss Fort Leonard Wood. Or Fort Lost in the woods. Loved being stationed in "misery."
Born and raised in Missouri too
Emily, you are awesome on harmony! Whew, gives me goosebumps; you two should be all over the radio waves.
Only found Mandarin Orange recently but keep coming back for more! Fantastic sound!
Big fan of ALL your work. But this, right here is at the root of what I love! I've never hear a better pair!! Thanks again and again

These two are unbelievably awesome :)
God I’ve been listening to these to for years I just realized. And I’ll never stop lol
This is absolutely delightful. It’s downright magical.

After many years of performing together they finally married. Now they continue to make wonderful music together.
Great Duo with the power to move you with every note they play.
I found you guys and have shared your music with everybody i know . I am not a big music fan but i am dam sure a Mandolin Orange fan .
Coming from Missouri this song is special to me. Wished this was on one of their albums. The story style song reminds me of a Marty Robbins song

Wonderful as ever!! Lets hope you can tour the UK soon.

After the line at 3:45 "...when my mother sees me dead," that sweet mandolin slide that jumps to the third of the key (an E note) is enough to make me want to learn to play mandolin.
This comment haunts my very being... or is it the slide to the third.
Jason Hollowell this dude literally made me want to learn to play the mandolin so bad I went and bought a mandolin.
beautiful, cheers Jason!
I forgot all about the mandolin due to the harmony.
But I did take note of the note. Played it back ten times.
