For older guys like me who thought all the great music had already been made, performers like Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle and this band makes me happy.
Me too ❤
Check out the Blackberry Smoke you want be disappointed
And Nickel Creek and I'm With Her
Sara Jarosz, Sierra Hull, The Pedersens!
@@christinemohr424 I think that is English enough.
Only recently found this song from a download of the 100 Greatest Alt Country & Americana songs. It's #53. Definitely deserves to be there.
I can't get enough of this performance, of this song.... This lady's opening singing is haunting.
I’ve said it before I all say it again, the best recording of this song ever
Audiotree tends to do that. Incredible studio. I'd imagine the samples are likely outside of the artists reach price wise so these amazing samples tend to be RUclips exclusive- which obviously disgusts me because RUclips auto corrected to the proper capitalization but the word "exclusive" required me to meticulously spell it. Also I learned today you can't skip jewelry commercials even after you bought a ring for your wife. Anyway, audiotree - you are great but your sampling prices are obviously disgusting and you need to be find a way to get artists off this dying platform of RUclips.
I love how they look at each other, that makes me happy!
Holy shit, I've never loved a song/band so fast.
Hahahaha. They do that. Emilys voice rivals God's angels. Mandolin Orange is amazing.
Beautiful song. These guys need more recognition.
i saw these guys in london - they were just the most incredible group... im going to america this year just to see them!
Music like this timeless. You loved it 100 years ago and will love it 1000 years from now! Music on the radio now, well it is not! Thank you Mandolin Orange
Emily is beautiful, and has the voice of an angel.., 2 great talented musicians here !!
100--100
Not sure when I can stop looping this song, can't see it being anytime soon. Just beautiful!
Bringing beauty and deep feeling back into the realm of song. I missed it. This brought it back. Thank you, you amazing duo.
Just enjoyed seeing them in Dallas last weekend! So great! Just Andrew and Emily on stage with their instruments! Pure vocals with amazing harmonies 🎶❤
Love this number. Emily voice is perfect.
What a beautiful song, and a beautiful duo!
And this, kids, is how you make real (and great) music.
🥰
🥰
💌
Amen.
So much sound and soul from these two artists. Sublime.
This is just stunningly beautiful.
and married and have a child in north carolina
I think I’ve heard this song a hundred times or so. It really touches my soul. MO or WT please keep making music😊
Love this band no matter what name they call themselves
Very under rated band! The writing is amazing....
That little grin at 33 seconds tells you this is going to be an amazing 3 & a half minute journey together. I take this same journey at least a couple dozen times a week.
You bet👍
The real lyrics courtesy of the Mandolin Orange website:
If I showed up to your wedding wearing black and blue and red
Wouldn’t it seem fitting, ‘cause I’m as blue and angry as I’ve ever been
There was a time when I called you
There was a time when I called you mine
This old house is cold and empty
Even these old walls have bent
I lay down, you’re not with me
Waking up just sinks it in
There was a time when I called you
There was a time when I called you mine
There’s no gold on either side of the Mississippi
No silver in this world left to find
Precious metal and precious memories slip away, slip away from your finger and
Your mind
There was a time when I called you
There was a time when I called you mine
thanks for this - I think the second line is "bruised and angry" rather than blue - fits the song narrative better and black/blue/red line
I also thought it was "bruised and angry," but I've just gone with the lyrics from the official Mandolin Orange site. static1.squarespace.com/static/54bd37c4e4b0bb2b01b2cbaf/t/5e8b50aee367ab31feba9b09/1586188462799/There+Was+A+Time.pdf
Great band -- they sing and play sweetly and sincerely, no affectation or coyness.
The eyes, the hair, the guitar stokes I'm in love, she's not bad either.
Have followed you mandolin Orange from the very beginning and have loved every song!! Totally enjoy Also how you share your beautiful personalities and how nice that you treat each other. God bless you and everyone from Patrick
Was looking for There Was a Time by GNR, stumbled across this instead. So glad I did. Love it!!
This is the best music I have heard in a long time!
Lachlann Ban check out elephant revival!
MO - Love these guys - never heard Emily sound better and nothing sounds as good as a great mando in the right hands.
When you listen to this you know there is hope for more beauty in the world despite the efforts of the world to promote so much filth... Mandolin Orange makes everything beautiful for a few minutes at a time!
love this comment. I feel this way about so many musicians and music in general. The beauty that music brings my soul is THE DIVINE.

Whitehawkvisionfilms that is exactly how I feel too. I never heard this track before and with one listen I was moved by it. Let’s get this world turned around. WWG1WGA

Awesome, these two are very talented. Her voice is beautiful, nice harmonies. I sincerely hope they make it big, or at least comfortable, and stay focused💕

He can barely even look at her. It gives me chills. Great chemistry....
OMG yes what is that? And the way she looks at him sometimes?
That's because she's WAY out of his league. He got lucky marrying her.
Beautiful mandolin playing and her voice is exquisite ...harmonies are beautiful.
I love everything these two write. Pure Genius.
I'm an admitted old guy with with an awful lot of time and grade around music. I just love this band....just do
first Mandolin Orange song i heard and been hooked since
You guys are so great together. Also, that "off-note" at 1:15 felt like the most beautiful gut punch ever.
I recently saw them at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa. They were awesome. My #2 Concert behind Iron Maiden.
Not sure why but I keep getting chills listening to these two, and I don't mind watching them perform together either....
I can listen to you for hours and hours.....
Hear ya on that one fella.. she makes me feel like a young man, again. There's a beautiful rhythm to their music!
love this.... what a refreshing sound. Love the harmony, and the mando.... well done
Incredible harmonies. They are obviously made for each other and that’s why they are now married and have their next generation of musical genius
Awesome
Every single note and vocal
Love this - gets better and they are fantastic live
Love these guys purity ~ just makes me smile.
Music that has sweetened my heart ❤️
i cant quit listening to your music, especially this song... my taste in music dips and i go from pop to rap to jazz but never country ... your sound however just suits me perfectly... beautiful songs and perfect lyrics... workin on an old house from 1830 i put on a list of your music on youtube and it just makes for such an enjoyable day... i have written a few dozen songs in my life and i always seem to lean towards country guess its my background im from ky, i don't sing well but i do sing often... :-) dunno if you ever consider the lyrics of others but if you ever want to see a few of them i would be honored.. you guys are just amazing thank you so much for sharing your gift with us.... i've been a fan since i first heard you on NPR .....the beautiful melodic sounds of your voices just blends perfectly together... lots of love and admiration for you both... take care..
I got this love about me.

How can you help but love it and them?
What a tear jerker.
Once I was blind but I now I see I can't play enough of Mandolin Orange!
The little lick on intro remains as same intro lick on One Horse Town by BLACKBERRY SMOKE...
Chorus has a similar melody to "If I Go, I'm Going" by Gregory Alan Isakov. Both phenomenal songs
The feels...
This song hits hammer to nail if you've ever felt love n loss...
Damn, sound conveys such memories and emotions...
Fare ye well to the past...
