Can’t believe it’s been 9 years since I heard these two kids playing at a friends house in Chapel Hill. They’ve only gotten better and now are proud parents. They warmed my soul then and still do today.
I listen to this multiple times a day
This song and especially this version live, is a once in a life time recording. It captures the essence of the vocals and instruments intertwining around a beautiful poem of loss and hope. Thanks to Mandolin Orange and audiotree for sharing a special moment in life
I've been singing this song over and over again because it's brought me so much comfort lately as I lost my 106 year old grandmother on Friday night
That song gives me the goosebumps every time I hear and not in a bad way. Beautiful, utterly beautiful.
Their best song in my opinion!
I'm with you Mandy
Yep its lovely these two are from another planet .....unique. .....loved your church concert it was a revelation
Greetings from IRELAND 😉 we love you
Mandolin Orange just ooze quality and passion.
Great song. These two sound so good together.
Beautiful and moving tune by beautiful and moving people! Doesn't get much better than this folks! Thank you!
I first found you guys from shazaming this song on a date with a girl back in the day, it was playing in a restaurant in New Zealand.
Your music has stuck me until this day.. unlike the date 😂
An amazing duo, I love them.
what a beautiful song.
Well, I've carried the world on my back with no more to obtain
The fire in the sky-- a dim light in my eye that's long faded
And I've stood where heroes have fallen their names turned to stone Yet I remain nameless, the best friend the hero has known
Now I'm saving my strength for running
These days I'm saving my strength for running
From the age of kings when pride decided all fate
Long before war machines took charge and I was still 'wake
It was blind hope and blinders, with young men to carry between
All the death and the glory; believin' they're one and the same
Now I'm saving my strength for running
These days I'm saving my strength for running
Yes I've carried the world on my back with no more to obtain
The sword and the shield perched upon saddles and reins
But the stampedes of thunder, the cavalry's charge leaves me now
Your last war will come but I can not follow you down
No, I'm saving my strength for running
These days I'm saving my strength for running
I said these days I'm saving my strength for running
Thank you for this!
Simply Beautiful !
Call it what you may, Bluegrass, Americana, Folk, Roots as long as you preface any of the foregoing with "Heroic".
Thanks for posting this;
Keep making songs like this Mandolin Orange and keep making the world a more tranquil place if even for three or four minutes at a time.
Many Thanks!
few songs strike me as emotionally as this one.
hes the soul,...shes the passion.
Excellent musicians, able vocalists, beautiful material. If you. Ever tour England , I’ll pay up to be there.
I love to play and write music, and I appreciate lyrics as much as the music. You two have become my new favorites, and listen DAILY to your music........ Pick on !!

I love pert much everything you 2 do, but this one this one moves me.. It is prophetic I think, and speaks to our connections to the 4 legged being of the earth. I am so thankful for you 2, and the other fellas in the band. Please keep at it. What you do matters so much. Many thanks, much warmth and respect

"From the age of kings, when pride decided all things,"
The damn shame of it all is that pride, vanity, and greed are still making too many decisions...
This is the kind of song that all song writers fantasize about writing but never quite achieve! It is fun for most of the lives of most of the 'inept' but hopeful writers out there to try
tho.
The studio version of this song is great, but this version is absolute gold. Is there somewhere besides RUclips, so I can listen to it without burning so much data?
Song about a war horse! Brilliant
Emilyyy
Australian light horsemen cavalry as well folk, Beersheba Palestine WW1.. The Australian Light Horsemen.
Do you like?
this song is about a war horse
Kevin Moore I actually never realised that and it makes total sense now! Thank you!
Toby Phillips. you're welcome
There's a video of a live show where he says he was imagining a horse going into battle against Orcs in Lord of the Rings and that gave birth to this song.
Damn she's good lookin!
Don't drink coffee before filming, Mr. Cameraman
The dude is just vibing
Beautiful, just not sure about the story they are tellin.

Momma's don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys
Another terrific performance compromised by amateurish videography.
The song of the republican party.: D

Pro trick: watch movies on flixzone. Been using them for watching lots of of movies recently.
@Dillon Orlando definitely, have been watching on flixzone} for months myself :D
Verse 2, line 2 - "Long before war machines took charge and I was TO WAKE" is what I hear.
Well, I've carried the world on my back with no more to obtain
The fire in the sky-- a dim light in my eye that's long faded
And I've stood where heroes have fallen their names turned to stone
Yet I remain nameless, the best friend the hero has known
