People like these two make me crazy when I hear others say that there is no good music anymore. They are as glorious as anyone in the past has ever been.
It's a perfect song. Flawless in every regard. Lyrics, tempo, melody, all of it. Honestly I'm not sure if I have ever been able to say the same of anything else. And for me, that's astronomical. Should be a 10 minute song.
Daylight had spoken So clear and so plain I'm the keeper of nothing But an old flame Consuming the shadows Caught in the light Blinded by hunger And fed to the night And darling, you came to me Like a dream in this endless blight My heart was reaching So tangled and twined Like vines in the willows Serpentine killer Bound by its climb Glory was calling She wailed and she whined Higher and higher Leave it all behind And darling, you came to me In the glory I'd longed to find My search was unending And my soul was bare And darling you came to me Like a midnight flare Out o'er the ocean The stars had all gone My heart was broken Lost and alone Darling, you came to me Like a beacon leading me home Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Andrew Hardy Marlin
Mmmm, no. Maybe that wasn't intended as an insult. Yes, of course, beautiful together, but each are amazing, far from so,so. Could carry a show each on their own. We're just glad together.
No insult intended musically just vocally. They have somewhat 'shallow' voices individually just sayin' but together it brings it out. I imagine they tried that before coming together and found together was simply much better for entertainment purposes.
Troy Taylor That may be technically correct, I wouldn't know since I'm not an expert on singing ( & I also only place so much importance on it when it comes to liking music or not). It appears you must be the same at least a little. For me each of their songwriting & playing abilities combined make them enjoyable as performers individually (I enjoy both of their singing voices in the parts where they sing alone). But you're right they're probably better overall as a unit then they'd be by themselves or paired with anyone or hardly anyone else instead.
I love the way these guy's sound.they not the best players I've ever seem or the best singers I've ever seen ,but they work together like a team and everything they do just works, but every time i see that Guitar that looks like a D18 someone to a can of black spray paint to i think what the hell.
Just discovered audiotree.tv/session/mandolin-orange/ with a few tracks by them, and at 3:38 the stories by Emily and Andrew about her fiddle and his guitar. That fills in some blanks in what I tried to explain in comment to another post of them about Andrew's guitar. Very good audio & video too.
he did a interview about that it was an accident when he made the guitar, he was working as an apprentice in a Griggs guitar shop in NC and as payment Mr. Griggs helped him build that guitar and he mixed up on the stain and had to wipe it off and the result is what you see, so in a sense you are right but it wasn't a nice guitar that was defaced
Why did they change their name? Mandolin Orange is such an incredible name for a band and they ended up with such a boring name with Watchhouse. It doesn't stand out anymore.
@@KingCrichton Not even close. Andrew has said that they picked the name Mandolin Orange in haste when they first started out and that "Watchhouse" better reflects who they are musically, whatever that means. Not everything is a result of the culture wars. Let's just enjoy the music regardless of what they choose to call themselves.

Better songwriting than Dylan if you ask me. At least a better voice.

Man...the sweetest song amd music. Pardon me if I share this with any and everybody I can. The day will have beeen better for it.
Out of the ocean, the stars had all gone. My heart was broken, lost and alone. But darling, you came to me like a beacon leading me home.
It is “Out o’er the ocean” :)
Bloody gorgeous line
These guys are really growing on me
great music.two people that belong to each other.
Found this song last night and I'm so hooked 🙏
Incredibly incredable, simply in love with this easy to getalong with music
Love these two. Andrew sure won the lottery when he found Emily.
I just can’t handle the incredible talent! ❤️❤️❤️
Instant like at the first notes
Daylight had spoken
So clear and so plain
I'm the keeper of nothing
But an old flame
Consuming the shadows
Caught in the light
Blinded by hunger
And fed to the night
And darling, you came to me
Like a dream in this endless blight
My heart was reaching
So tangled and twined
Like vines in the willows
Serpentine killer
Bound by its climb
Glory was calling
She wailed and she whined
Higher and higher
Leave it all behind
And darling, you came to me
In the glory I'd longed to find
My search was unending
And my soul was bare
And darling you came to me
Like a midnight flare
Out o'er the ocean
The stars had all gone
My heart was broken
Lost and alone
Darling, you came to me
Like a beacon leading me home

Says a lot when they sound exactly the same as the studio version
