Found this song on a Tyler Childers radio station on Spotify and man did it hit me right where it hurt but I also needed it, the catharsis. I was in the car driving back to the airport after visiting my grandparents lake house in Livingston, TX after 10 years away. Unfortunately when you’ve been gone as long as I had and your starting to get older the reasons you come back home are never good and this time it was to see my granny take her last ride. Sometimes music comes to you in times if need, and I really needed it then.
The kind of music that makes you feel as though you’ve lived before and been happy then in that life. In pain now, though remembering who we were before a loss.
One thing that might slip by you here- in addition to her large musical contribution, close-up , Emily is really beautiful, with a smile like sunshine. Just delightful. These folks give hope for us.
If you can't relate to a Mandolin Orange song then you've never lived, loved,or lost before and that's just impossible in this thing we all call life ...music will always be the foundation of a soul
Just like an old friend, kinder than expected That Cadillac came and gave our girl a ride Loss has no end, it binds to our connection We don't speak of it, we don't even try If you could help me to share the trouble That you've got burning in you, then you can help me And in our time together, her memory will ever Shine like golden embers in the night I miss the old hymns, when she used to sing The sparrows spread their mortal wings Now they've all lighted with the silence of strings Like notes on the pages, she breathed life into all things If you could help me to share the trouble That you've got burning in you, then you can help me And in our time together, her memory will ever Shine like golden embers in the night Just like an old friend, reach out to me Bathe me in the light of understanding Try to help me to share the trouble But you've got burned and then you, then you can help me And in our time together, her memory will ever Shine like golden embers in the night

You were the light when it was the darkest! I find all your songs uplifting and you should be proud of yourselves. Learning a instrument is a secluded and inward investment and isnt easy. Prince Edward Island Canada would love to hear and see you guys live hopefully soon. 👌
Thanks so much lord Jesus Christ 🙏 for your love and connections with my brothers and sisters. These word have my heart stings pulling in every direction. My mom passed away 2003 and I never really got to or did I greave her passing this song brings me back to the day she went on the Cadillac ride to the grave. I needed this song and so glad I found it. Blessed be the believer. I love you all past heaven LYPH
Beautiful composition. I enjoyed it being a fellow musician. I have always been a hard rock player but know I am aging and my genre is changing. Thank you for the beautiful duet.
Was just at Madison show. So disappointed in a lackluster version of this song. Watchhouse....embrace that your fans love this song and indulge us a bit . Left the concert empty handed cuz we were so bummed. Knew it was a make up date but.......😕
quite often I find that the way how he looks at her is very different from how she looks at him. I hope that they are well. They have kids as far as I know.
Andrew cracked a smile towards the end of the song. He seems like someone who is very hard on themselves and battling depression. With some people, our facial expressions often don't match our emotions...I am one of those people, so I think I can relate to him. I can certainly relate to his music.
I think one of the best written songs I have heard in my 68 years
Agreed. Daylight is a great one as well. Masterful composition and performance. These two are phenomenal.

Beautifully worded
Sometimes? Every. Single. Time. Sorry for your lost.
If you need to grieve, put this on a loop, the tears will come. Thank you for this beautiful and painful moment.
I am so glad there are still beautiful people who think and sing beautiful things. Love MO.
The kind of music that makes you feel as though you’ve lived before and been happy then in that life. In pain now, though remembering who we were before a loss.
This is the mostly deeply profound song about loss I’ve ever heard. Thank you🙏

God I sure hope they come back to LA again, have seen them twice and really want to see them again.
It evokes so many feelings. It's hard to describe all that this song makes me feel.
That's some OLD SCHOOL talent right there!!! Two old souls just reminiscing..
I still come back to this often, pure magic. Helps when I need to share some trouble.
Liked the way he studied her total concentration at the end.
Just like an old friend, kinder than expected
That Cadillac came and gave our girl a ride
Loss has no end, it binds to our connection
We don't speak of it, we don't even try
If you could help me to share the trouble
That you've got burning in you, then you can help me
And in our time together, her memory will ever
Shine like golden embers in the night
I miss the old hymns, when she used to sing
The sparrows spread their mortal wings
Now they've all lighted with the silence of strings
Like notes on the pages, she breathed life into all things
If you could help me to share the trouble
That you've got burning in you, then you can help me
And in our time together, her memory will ever
Shine like golden embers in the night
Just like an old friend, reach out to me
Bathe me in the light of understanding
Try to help me to share the trouble
But you've got burned and then you, then you can help me
And in our time together, her memory will ever
Shine like golden embers in the night
he loves her... i saw it at the end
The way he looks at her

Such a beautiful song & performance that perfectly expresses the sentiments around loss & death esp of a woman/ mother .
The beauty of this is beyond the words and hits you straight in the heart!
Playing this at my grandmothers funeral. Thank you Watchhouse. The live, raw version in which the fiddle is showcased is the best version for me.

Stupid question but is she playing a viola or violin?
Violin
I found this from a guitar lesson tutorial.

Observed the same…

Such a beautiful song. Terrible mix on the audio, just horrid. Ruined an otherwise perfect performance of this song. :(
Watch men did it better
