Mandolin Orange - “Wildfire”

- Опубликовано: 12 июл 2017
- Andrew and Emily are the duo behind Yep Roc Records’ own Mandolin Orange. Given the chance to film these talented artists in front of the Gyre structure in the North Carolina Museum of Art’s sculpture garden, it creates a scenario where we are capturing art created by artists in front of one of the Triangle’s most distinguishable outdoor art exhibits. If that isn’t meta, then maybe three songs and a cover with beautiful harmonies, acoustic guitar, and mandolin from the duo will convince you otherwise.
Consider this performance a warm-up for the NCMA’s Summer Concert Series with Mandolin Orange on Saturday July 22nd.
Sit back, grab a cold beverage of your choice and enjoy Mandolin Orange performing their songs in the July summer heat, “Big Men In The Sky”, “Echo”, and ”Wildfire”, along with a lovely cover of “Silver Dagger”.

I'm 66 and this is one of the best songs I've ever heard
56 and I have to 👍 agree
Song is full of fire…… amazing…. I keep coming back to listen and remember.
It's Nov. 2, 2020, and these words are more profound than ever.
This is so true
Supreme Pizzas are Co.8 reeeeeeeeeeeeeewe
Still profound in November, 2922
2024 even MORE scary
music lovers ... these two are an experience worth your time ~
Well, to be fair, we couldn’t see the people that did stop to listen.
Shockingly gorgeous people and music invoked from the deepest core of our best human qualities. Grateful such beauty still exists in the world of wildfires. With tears. Love.
That's some poetic description right there! Wish I could say it like you and thanks for expressing EXACTLY how I feel about this song.
I have been watching too much news lately and got rather pessimistic about the world. This music is healing my heart.
The news..... just there to bring us down!
Blow up your tv.
You don't need the news my friend. You'll know it when you see it. XO
This song is a synopsis of the news... The more things change the more they stay the same... "it should have been different, it could have been easy."
@@BillClintonsCigar throw away your paper. Go to the country, build you a home
"The Civil War came, the Civil War left, brother fought brother, the south was spent, but it's true demise was hatred passed down through the years. And it should've been different, it could've been easy, but pride has a way to hold on firm to history and it burned like wildfire."
It's unfortunate the winners rewite history.
What're you trying to inflict on us, Daniel? The South going to rise again, in righteous indignation? What?
@@jacquesblaque7728 - The truth nothing but the truth . GOD so help us!
Daniel, having some diffs with the ESL stuff? Or is it now bot-prep? Better luck next try.

Goddam love his voice and sense of melody. Always soothing. Perfecto.
I can listen to this song all day long and love it more each time. Thank you and great job.
Dang, this song. These two are effortless.
Effortless is a great adjective to describe them. Notice how effortlessly he sings all of his songs. That is how great singers do it.
I miss North Carolina. What a beautiful setting for this song that captures so clearly the central contradiction of American history. The Gyre structure corresponds so well to the historic content of each verse that it almost seems like it was made for the song, or the song for it. Anyway, all that aside--just a darn good song well done.
I finally saw them live in Boston, This song has a crazy energy the whole room felt like it was electrified it's a bit hard to explain, but it felt like one of those things I will always have with me.
@roltthehunter, lucky you. I agree, this song does something sad, happy, melancholy and much more emotions that are hard to explain. If I miss a day without listening, I need my fix quickly.
I'll have the playlist of this session on repeat for the rest of my life.
So poignant. The more I listen to this, the more it just makes me sad. But thoughtful.
Wonderful. We have a long way to go, but we can do it.
Wow!!!! Awesome performance and setting.
They are the most incredible musicians I've ever heard. These videos are just beautiful.
Nancy Evans I agree, probably some of the most beautiful music being created today.
I do agree. Breathtaking.
Never get tired of listening to these talented artists. This song is like a piece of religion.
So gentle, lovely voices, expression from those strings, harmony . ......
Music with heart, harmony and commitment......one day I hope to see them performing at the Old Whaling Church on Martha's Vineyard.......Emily and Andrew have the "it" factor......
Being a old dog but new musician myself , I am once again blown away at how profound simple can be (at least looked simple) this is what I aspire too
Amazing how something so horrible as war can be made to sound so beautiful threw music
Thank you so much
Much needed inspiration in these tuff times
Music can unite the world
A daily tonic. Thankyou 2 for giving this to us.
This and "That wrecking ball", my favorites
Beautiful setting (thanks to public art and museum everywhere!) for this amazing duo to play this touching and meaningful song. Keep up the good work.
I'm reading Team of Rivals (Lincoln Bio) and right now I have tingles in my arms and tears in my eyes. What a wonderfully potent song.
Wow, this is good. Randy travis with an indie country feel with historical story which only adds to it. Can't say enough good things
Classic. An appropriate time to find. I miss this part of NC. Peace be with you all❤️🇺🇦✊🏼
Amazing duo. A fortuitous discovery for all lovers of folk music.
With a soupcon of bluegrass. Not for nothing also, that Josh Oliver is an alum of East Tennessee State.
My favorite! Amazing talent!
incredible talent.....never be ashamed of being southern
The only time you should be ashamed to be southern is when hate is praised in its name.
Easy, if you strive to do what you know down deep is the right thing. Did I fail to mention, if you get the chance to see MO live, get to it. Well worth a trip, IMO.
My god, what a song.
We need this song right now in 2020.
Wow, incredible sound and song
Love this duo!!So so so good!!
Nice version of one of your best. Thank you.
This is my new ( well..not BRAND new) favorite song....Ever since they did this song I just keep playing it over and over.... Just ask my girlfriend...lol....She says she hates it.. I've played it so much.....I NEVER get tired of listening to it... The girlfriend thinks otherwise... I'm thinking of getting rid of the girlfriend...
Do it. You don't need that sort of negativity in your life.
Buck Sellers that's it good taste is good taste bad taste is just a grind
That's hilarious! I once broke up with a girl who kept bashing the music I loved and soon after she asked if id ever shut up with the guitar playing. Aha.
Buck Sellers how’d it turn out? Still together? 😂
Buck Sellers good idea get out now while you can!! Lol she will just end up backstabbing you anyway trust me and thank me later...
They’re sound immensely stimulates my inner soul. Touch the Stone wishes to do an album with them! ❤
❤️Wonderfull music made by you two. Love it .........🙏🏽🌺😍🌸
Burnin up the mandolin at 3:15
The hawk or vulture at 2:49 is a nice touch!
So beautiful :) Thank you!
Kind of reminds me of an old Civil War battleground area . Really good tune, although I do still beat my chest. 😊❤

23 dislikes? WTF. Just beautiful.
Fantastic performance of a great song by a great duet! I would love to see them live sometime but will take whatever live performances I can get on RUclips. Growing up in Southcentral PA, I would love to see a video of them singing this song with the battlefield as a backdrop.
....ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT.....
Wauwww... beautuful song and perfect permormance!

Very Nice. Elephant Revival also does a really nice tribute rendition of this song. Love it.
hermosisimo dúo.... me encantan esos instrumentos y como expresan tan naturalmente.... son increíbles..... muy dulce música... gracias!
How can you walk past that?
sadly ppl nowadays care more about gossiping with the attention of their dog than genuine human interaction with other purely talented individuals... Narcissism, Selfishness & Uninterest against street performers/artists are commonly seen all the time, but let those same performers been social media type famous....lml
I wouldn't but you don't know what's going on behind the camera, there could be a 100 people who stopped and watched.
Probably couldn't hear it from that distance- it wouldn't have been amplified in any way, just picked up mics.
YES!!!!!!
Great band. Understated grooves. Love the commentary on the legacy of the Civil war.
Beautiful haunting lyrics. A Southern masterpiece.
Funny how they're right at home, and warmly received, at a festival (Grey Fox), north of the Catskills. In the UNITED states. And ... Emily rocks.
Awesome ❤️
So beautiful reaches way down
Favorite version of this song. And also I dont really like most modern "art", but those arches are pretty awesome.
Thanks mr Hughes
"hate should have gone with him" WOW!!!!
WILDFIRE
Brave men fought with the battle cry
Tears filled the eyes of their loved ones and their brothers in arms
And so it went, for Joseph Warren
It should have been different
It could have been easy
His rank could have saved him
But a country unborn needs bravery
And it spread like wildfire
[Chorus]
Wildfire
From the ashes grew sweet liberty
Like the seeds of the pines when the forest burns
They open up to grow and burn again
It should have been different
It could have been easy
But too much money rolled in to ever end slavery
The cry for war spread like wildfire
[Chorus]
Wildfire
Wildfire
Civil War came, Civil War went
Brother fought the brother, the South was spent
But its true demise was hatred passed down through the years
It should have been different
It could have been easy
But pride has a way of holding too firm to history
And it burns like wildfire
I was born a Southern Son,
In small Southern town, where the Rebels run wild.
They beat their chests, and they swear they're gonna rise again.
It should have been different
It could have easy
The day the old war died, hate should have gone with it
And here we are, caught in a wildfire
*The day that ole Warren died, hate should have gone with him
Someone put all this together!
Nice!
amazing
great song for these days, eh?
I feel like this song came out in a movie! Anyone else??
Why, this video was shot inside a Whales Body.... Jobe spent time there, and now these two artists sing about it.... >>> absolutely beautiful
And that wildfire is come around again........
Really nice 👍
great love it thankyou (pmw)
lovely. love playing along. how can those dog walkers just go on by? Maybe they are paid extras, lol.
I love the people rolling by on the greenway...HA!
i know haha. They couldn't feel out their surroundings i suppose. Probably chatting about the bachelorette.
I wonder if they knew this song was gonna hit for them the way it did... good tune
awesome
How did they get studio sound outdoors! . Saw them in London with my extended family! Finished concert unamplified Awsome!

ALL IT TAKES IS 3 LITTLE LETTERS WOW!
There is an attraction to the flame. It burns and you know. But you test the limits. The consequences be damned. Like every other form of life. You are incapable of not finding the place of limitation.
Did anyone notice the Hawk in the background land and catch something?
Just power walking on through wearin' my yoga pants and walkin' my golden-doodle....LOL
Did they get married??? I know they aren't wearing rings in this video but I have seen them wear rings before
They did.
Lucky fuckers.
