Tamron with the Quality / Price Ratio... is just insane! I have the 35-150 f2.8 and I love how you get a 35 f2 prime (because it is that sharp) and a 35-150 zoom all in one lens, but this Macro lens for $699 is ridiculous. I am still waiting for that crazy zoom I have heard some rumors about (28-180mm f2.8 Tamron might come out with) that would be a game changer, especially with vibration compensation.
Tamron always surprises. I got a while ago my first super zoom 28-200 from Tamron. And how positively I was surprised, sharp and a magical 3D pop, even in landscapes. So I guess this 90mm will even do better :) tempting!!!!!
To be clear: if you are anywhere *near* the minimum focusing distance you will not be at f/2.8 it will be more like 5.6. you won't be able to use f/2.7 until you back out to portrait/headshot ranges.
You are able to program the button to switch the MF ring to aperture and back. Or do it live with the Android app if you're on sticks. programmable Linear MF is also a Tamron hallmark with the latest lenses. Some amazing things happen with the USB-C port. Oh: and the weather seals are top flight.
Thanks for your review! The Nikon 105mm 2.8 Z macro lens can't use Nikon's Z teleconverters. Can these teleconverters be used with this new Tamron lens?
I wonder how good this is for film scanning. I'm kind of missing a nice macro that isn't too long and has a good flat field curvature.. I've only found the Loawa (65mm?) for Z-mount, but that's constantly out of stock.
I'm considering this for the sony. How's does this lens function when it comes to video? Is the stabilization decent? Assuming I wouldn't have any issues if this is on a tripod for closeups at weddings and or on a gimbal.
"Hello, I need your help. I recently switched from the Nikon D850 to the Z7II. I'm a product photographer, and during my time with the Nikon D850, I primarily used the Tamron 90mm lens, which I was very happy with. I also had the Nikon 105mm f/2.8, but I found the colors and sharpness of the Tamron 90mm lens to be outstanding on the D850. However, when I use the same Tamron lens on the Z7II, I feel that the Nikon 105mm f/2.8 performs much better. Now, I’m considering selling both lenses and buying either a Tamron or Nikon lens specifically for the Z mount. I’m a bit confused about which to choose. Will the Tamron still give me the same sharpness and color, or is the Nikon Z 105mm MC superior? Could you please make a comparison video? It would be very helpful for me to decide between the new Z mount Tamron and Nikon lenses. Thank you!"
