About Batman:
Tim Burton directs; Michael Keaton stars as Batman; and Jack Nicholson stars as his arch foe, The Joker. As the Dark Knight, defender of law and order in Gotham City, Batman treads the shadow zone between right and wrong, fighting with only his skill in martial arts and his keenly honed mind to defend the innocent and to purge the memory of his parents' brutal murder--always keeping his true identity as millionaire philanthropist Bruce Wayne a closely guarded secret. Based upon Batman characters created by Bob Kane and published by DC Comics.

Batman is every man's secret fantasy... anyone who has a sense of justice... probably thought of becoming batman at least once...
Batman made me a Communist because he was my gateway drug to Dashiell Hammett.

Except no one can take all that mental pressure, there is no way.

Reading the comments, it amazes me how people are only talking about how great Nolan's movies were but no one is talking that is was the genius of Tim Burton that paved the way for everyone else.
in a alternate universe somewhere superman didn’t exist and batman was the one who paved the way for all superhero movies(somehow it happened)

Michael Keaton doing an interview about batman in today's time is so great to watch.
Michael Keaton ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of the best movie theater going experiences of my entire life. I remember my cousins trying to creep me out. They kept reminding that the Joker was from The Shining. As a 5 year old, of course I was blown away. Never missed a Batman movie in a theater since. Back then, any of those summers that a Batman movie came out, that summer felt special. Those who went and saw them back then know what I'm talking about. The bat-mania.
Very excired to see Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck back as batman(s). Excited for Robert Pattinson's batman too.
Batman - Into the BatVerse
R.I.P. Adam West
This movie is Masterpiece
Which one?
In POP CULTURE ....true !!!
I like the second one better
What's sad to me is that the two sequels have never gotten the same level of love. BATMAN RETURNS is more a "cult" movie than a classic; and BATMAN FOREVER, while it's not terrible, is considered to be the foreshadowing of BATMAN & ROBIN (which IS terrible). Looking back, I think my greatest wish for this series would be for Warner Brothers to NOT ask Burton to direct the second film, and kept him on only as a producer. I can't help wondering whether we could have had a Christopher Nolan-like trilogy 17 years earlier.
@@SeasideDetective2
Returns has been largely re-examined over the years and today is highly regarded.. Forever is pretty bad.. A popcorn movie of it's time. It is too goofy, and off the beat and path of the Burton Batman's to be seen as a quality Batman movie IMO.. But I will say Val Did a great job..
As an 80s baby (born in 1986), I remember watching this on the couch my parents (as the moving came out on VHS). I watched it in j VHS almost every weekend until the Batman Returns came out when I was six years old.
Props to Anton Furst for his production design. It was so incredible!
RIP
Absolutely! Would have liked to seen more work from him after Batman
Nigel Phelps is still alive and working in the industry today, Phelps is the one who drew all the buildings and sets. Make fun of Judge Dredd all you want, but that depiction of Mega-City 1 is incredible. And Julian Caldow drew all the vehicles and gadgets. Furst verbally dictated what he wanted to his illustrators, exactly like Bo Welch, Barbara Ling and very other average PD in the industry. William Stout and Ron Cobb he was not, Furst has been elevated to a DaVinci level genius folk hero in the midwest.
Let's hope the best for Matt Reeves' and Robert Pattinson's batman..
Pattinson had the same trainer as John Wick's for the Batman role
Yeah!
They're never gonna be able to even come close to Nolan's trilogy. That sparkly vampire has nothing in relation to Batman!
@@crapshot Have you seen Pattinson's other performances?
@@LEGOMotionStudios yeah. And that doesn't mean he's a perfect fit for a character like Batman.
This movie is my favorite movie of all time in general. It ages like a fine wine.

So true. Whenever I hear that score I think immediately of Keaton swooping in.
Exactly! It was perfection.
His score was great, that is the music I associate with Batman
Not gonna lie some days at the gym Batman Returns is in the wars and I like how this opens with Descent into Darkness.

Batman is and always will be my top favorite super hero. I’ve read his comics since I was a kid, both the new ones and the ones my dad read.
best trilogy
Definitely a monumental event for me in '89. Loved it then, love it now. I remember begging my dad to go see this at 13 years old. And when I finally saw it, I was blown away. Bought it when it came out on cassette and wore it out watching it so many times. Always will be grateful to Tim Burton, Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson for this gem.
Batman is awesome.

Batman has a special place in my heart.. I literally got spooked by Jack's Joker after his fall from the ending, I was 5 years old when I remembered it!

I think it's interesting the evolution of what's classified as the modern blockbuster. Seeing box office returns for films like Batman 89. Of Jaws, of the Original Star Wars Trilogy, of Ghostbusters.......all franchises that are HUGE today
The Dark Knight Trilogy, the Raimi Trilogy, and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The best trilogies of the 2000’s

Most iconic comic character of all time. ❤️
Batman is awesome. I appreciate Keaton as batman, Bale as Batman, even Kilmer as Batman. I like them all for different reasons. I like the character, and because of the mask, I can appreciate multiple people playing Batman. Refusing to enjoy one batman cause I prefer another, just ruins my own enjoyment.
what do you think of Affleck's?
I can't believe I left out Affleck. Thank you. I guess I was thinking of the older ones. I like Affleck's intensity. His version also has the best fighting skills on display and looks and feels the most like a graphic novel.
@@abovewater6918 agree with you on that, just wish they'd given him more to work with; a lot of people give him hate due to the quality of the films and forget on his Batman. My favourite Batman was Christian Bales personally. But I'm looking forward to Robert Pattenson's.
Christopher Nolan's trilogy, Ledger's Joker was nothing like those who came before him that's for sure.
But his trilogy brought Batman back to the darkness after WB killed the franchise with Batman & Robin.

I Disagree with his assessment that movies of the 70s and 80s didn't set out to become Blockbusters, that becoming blockbusters was inadvertent.
Indiana Jones, E.T., Gremlins, The Karate Kid, Back to the Future, and Ghostbusters, from the very beginning were all Meant To Be Blockbuster summer movies. (These movies made the month of June and the first week of July the most coveted time to release summer blockbusters).
Jaws was the first blockbuster in June ‘75. Everyone after that wanted to capture that summer box office money. Many may not have wanted to have that “blockbuster” status in name but they definitely wanted the money flow.
WB seems to be handling the break up pretty well. "Look, remember who we were BEFORE you?"
*If Warner brothers cared about the Batman series, they wouldn’t water it down*

We live in a world where Michael Keaton is coming back as Batman. It's crazy. YOU WANNA GET NUTS? LET'S GET NUTS!
batman really paved the way
Please make these videos for all DC movies, including batman forever and batman and robin.
its funny that you posted this because now Nolan is looking to choose Sony or Universal Pictures for his next flim since you treat all directors horribly and for what you did to Zack Snyder
And Burton didn't return for a Third Batman, we lost. Didn't like Batman & Robin or Forever, but I still respect Schumacher as someone in a Artistic field. Nolan still making movies is a treat for us film lovers, Warner Bros should've treated their talent better.
They gave Snyder a chance to release his version of Justice League which in the final analysis wasn’t profitable to WB as expected by many of the individuals who lobbied for the release. Also, Nolan was the idiot who wanted to exclusively release Tenet in the middle of a pandemic with no vaccines being available at that time.
even batman madallions around the neck, that movie was an event.
