Stumbled across your channel. Nice and thorough work. I remember seeing the film when it came out. It was such a hit. Most of my friends I hung around with at the time, would always quote lines from the movie. Classic film.

I love this film a lot. It's my favorite movie of all time. Michael Keaton will always be my favorite Batman and Tim Burton and the cast and crew did a marvelous job. It's very definitive.

But that's what I truly love about Michael Keaton's portrayal of Batman: when he finds out that Jack Napier/the Joker killed his parents, he's no longer Batman. This isn't about some sense of justice; this is about Bruce Wayne. This is personal. Even the way he gets out of the BatWing wreckage, you don't see Batman; you see a half-beaten man struggling to get out of a wreck with a look on his face of "I'm going to kill this son of a bitch," and it's beautiful.
But I love how it shows that this is not Batman; it's Bruce Wayne. He is not invincible, as one of the Joker's henchmen proves quite a task for him. Even then, he manages to outsmart one of the Joker's henchmen. As he climbs to the top of the cathedral and finally stares at the man who made him who he is, he says, "I'm going to kill you. You killed my parents. I made you; you made me first." I was cheering at that moment!
I saw this movie when I was eight years old, and I still understood that the person up there dressed as the Cape Crusader was a man, that it was Bruce Wayne and not Batman.
I never liked that some random shot his parents, but I did enjoy the way they did it in the Snyder universe. It was also well done in the Dark Knight trilogy by Christopher Nolan. It was some random guy, but it worked for that because they were trying to tell a different story.
Tim Burton has never been black and white. Tim Burton always had very deep characters. They were always multidimensional, and that's what I liked about Tim Burton's Batman.
But that's just me; everyone's different. I really enjoyed Batman Returns more than the first one, especially the marching soundtrack by Danny Elfman! Danny DeVito and Michelle Pfeiffer stole the show. I don't understand why parents thought they were taking their kids into the 1967 Batman. They complained that Michelle Pfeiffer was too sexy?
It's Michelle Pfeifer; she's sexy. In the trailers, they had her in a leather catsuit made out of a leather jacket that somewhat looked like S&M gear. But I really love how they made her character very multidimensional, and there were times I even felt bad for the Penguin. We don't get those types of villains anymore. I actually remember tearing up when the Penguin died at the end. His life was literally hell.
"If his parents had an 86'd him, you two might've been bunkies at prep school."
I think the main reason why I loved Michael Keaton's Batman is because Michael Keaton was never gone when he was donning the Bat-suit. There was always Bruce Wayne and Batman. Michael Keaton brought a certain vulnerability, and I think he had the charm of the everyday man. He wasn't this big hulking Christian Bale or Ben Affleck. He was an average-sized man. I can't say enough good things about Tim Burton's Batman, and I was so glad to see Michael Keaton return to the Bat-suit in The Flash, even if it was just nostalgia bait. But I still love all the other Batman movies, except for the Joel Schumacher films. God, what a mess that was.

Some of those 60's series clips were from the 66 film instead. But either way I remember this film and I will always like it. Also it's nice to see a mention of the 40's serials.

"....One wants to turn the people of Gotham into a TWISTED version of himself..."
Wouldn't a " twisted version" of The Joker just be a .......regular person?

22:12 - I say to this day this is still the greatests most recognizable and attributable CB movie theme ever. Superman 78 a close second. But you here those first three or four notes and EVERYONE knows exactly what that means. There hasn't been 1 single CB movie theme that comes remotely close, no offense to Zimmer. Agree or disagree. As for your conclusion on the mistakes in motivation, you are absolutely NOT wrong. I never liked that they made the Joker the killer of his parents. I guess it makes sense but in a very amateurish story-telling way. I liken it to Vader creating C-3PO, it makes the world/universe too small and personal. Batman's crusade isn't to revenge his parents on the killer but to any killers. And again you're right. I still say this is the movie that started it all. There would be none of the movies we've had in the last 23 years if not for THIS movie and this movie alone. If this would've been what BF was or worse, B&R, then that would've killed the cb movie idea for decades.

Batman is a classic. However, the over saturation of so called Super Hero movies has flooded the cinematic landscape with tripe and drivel. Not entertaining!

A few years ago I’d disagree with you but after all the content Marvel released last year the oversaturation has become a real problem
