    Another thing that would be greatly done with that twist, is Joker learning it was all his fault anyway. He drove his wife away. He gave into crime. It wasn't life that was joke. It was him. That would absolutely break him.

    talking about heath ledgers joker i believe that he is the same as the killing joke joker in the movie he talks about his wife and maybe she was scared of him for giving himself the scars and that is what drove him to become the joket

    One thing to take note, they did NOT start work on the book in 2015. Jason Fabok confirmed they went their separate ways for a while until 2018. It was only then that they started having meetings to officially think of the story.

    I wish they did more but I think they did quite a lot with the Three Jokers. Just with ambiguity. We were given a lot of fun clues, references to older stories and possible origins, plus they actually did have different motivations as the Comedian pointed out in the end.

    Joker tells Batman he knows he’s Bruce in Snyder’s Endgame

  • @rcbmmines4579
    @rcbmmines4579 3 года назад

    I don't think 3 Jokers made him a complete monster before that. He still loved his wife and wanted a family. He did everything because he wanted to provide for them. He still went through tragedy. It just gave it more shades of gray. The whole book before that blurred the lines between the Jokers and their victims (like Jason). The black and white scars montage in fact, are based on the Joker's flashbacks in The Killing Joke (the recolored edition).
    Do take note, even if he had really reconciled with her after, he still could've been more and more erratic. There was also time gap between that flashback and the two meetings with the criminals. The second of which took place "next friday" from the last one. Imagine her finding out he didn't try going to another comedy gig. He was going to commit a crime. Imagine his reaction to her disapproval.
    Either way, he was a normal man who had a pregnant wife. He failed his dreams and chose crime out of desperation. His loss of his family still made him the Joker and he still misses them. Contrast that to the Criminal who sees this as a weakness and was probably a violent but calculating mobster long before being the Joker. Now THAT was a Joker who was always evil.

    When I first read this book and saw the killing jokes jokers wife and son, I thought they were older memories as you see Jason Todd leaving and thought for a second that Jason Todd was that Jokers son. The blew my mind because that would mean that the Joker tortured and killed Todd and never knew that was his son and that his arch enemy Batman became the surrogate father to the Joker’s son. Still loved the story but I think that would have been awesome and mind blowing!!!

  • @laguy8181
    @laguy8181 3 года назад +2

    I loved this whole story but here is my issue with the Joker. They put the killing joke an origin for that joker but we still don't really know the origins of the other two and there could still be some cool origins for those jokers. My issue with them showing the killing jokes jokers wife and son, shouldn't he be older? I would think he would be closer to the ages of Jason and Barbara but he still looks like a kid.

      I don't think he should be older than 15 years old, considering that's how long Bruce has been Batman pretty much.

    • @rcbmmines4579

      The Criminal Joker likely has this origin: ruclips.net/video/27hhPbYKNfo/видео.html
      He's inspired also by Batman '89 and Mask of the Phantasm where he was also a mobster.

  • @Highline_29_Designs
    @Highline_29_Designs 3 года назад

    The story 100% confirms that the comedian is the first because if Batman knew Joker's real name and all about his family from the first week they met the FIRST time Batman ever knew there even was a Joker then there couldn't have been a Joker before the comedian or else Batman would have known.
    The only thing that could disprove it is the comedian is just the first one Batman met but not actually the first there ever was.

  • @kotickyle

    The ambiguity + the family thing is what bugged the hell out of me with this. They're contradictory story elements and it felt like they just wrote themselves into a corner and needed a cop-out that wasn't magic gem or time travel.
    The other thing is that it gave no credence to the Endgame story line with it hinting that the Joker had been alive a lot longer than anyone thought as a writing move for this story. I was expecting something different from the story line and not the same thing that they've said the past 4 Joker storylines

    In regards to whether joker was a good or bad husband. I would argue that they are his memories in the killing joke, just because he said he was a nice guy doesn't mean he was, abusers do tend to think they are in the right and not doing anything wrong

  • @laguy8181
    @laguy8181 3 года назад

    On the issue of the change showing the killing jokes joker origin shows him as abusive where Alan Moore showed him as the opposite I think adds to the fact that the joker doesmy want one origin.

    I prefered it to Joker War but we have had so much Joker recently I just want him to disappear for a few years. Batman has one of (if not the) best rogue galleries in comics and I miss seeing them in action.

  • @rcbmmines4579
    @rcbmmines4579 3 года назад

    The Criminal Joker is based on Batman #1 Joker. Besides his character design and all his poses, we even see a flashback to the issue. I think the laugh being painful for him is just because of his age. According to him, this is the fate of all the Jokers. He just wants to rest. Either he only became public after creating the Comedian, or the Comedian created him because he needed a mentor to teach him how to be a Criminal. After all, a failed comedian with some chemistry knowledge probably couldn't plan heists and assassinations that would fool even Batman, even with insanity.

    The scene between Joe Chill and Batman is simple. He doesn't know Batman is Bruce. You have to remember he has been locked up the entire career of Batman's. He only knows of Batman through word of mouth while spending life in prison. He doesn't know Batman doesn't kill he knows him through reputation and horror stories told amongst inmates.

    This arc had it height and its lows. It didn't answer why the hell there where three Jokers and that bugged be a bit as I still have no clue why there where three. Was the Criminal so charming that two copycats showed up or what? This story makes the Joker we currently have feel like a copycat to me and never gave me a good reason why. I guess that chemical bath super conveniently made him look like two already established Jokers or did the Jokers pop up sporadically and not in order? These comics answers non of that and it annoyed me. Another thing is the Clowns betrayal at the end as that weakened the Criminal and did nothing for the Clown as that felt expected and not earned. I have also problem with the family twist as that weakens the Killing Joke story by saying it didn't take one bad day to break a good man as he was apparently always awful. This story to me made the Joker far more one dimensional and less interesting. I am far more interested in the future of that family twist then I was for its inclusion here. Overall I think this story is meh for me. It had its ups with the Jason moments, Barbara was good, Joe Chills part was grand and how Batman acted around him. Seeing Bruce smile in the end melted my heart but overall I don't think I will remember this story for the years to come.
    Also the Jason x Barbara thing ended rather lack luster. I mean really? Jason took the worst tape around to hang up his lover letter? Really?

      What if every time Joker rebuilds his personality anew (Grant Morrison) he splits it (like in movie Split) when there’s too many people in his head, he just transfer them into cloned (James Tynion Joker series) or made from other humans, bodies(Three Jokers) so he can kill them later to stay the only one. Which one - u choose😁That would go in parallel with current Chip Zdarsky’s interpretation of Joker, who gets split in three time periods during Red Mask’s multiversal time trips.

    A story where Joker hates Batman for causing him his tragedy / "one bad day" and is angry because Batman kept his family a secret from him... sounds like a cliche and run-of-the-mill dynamic that removes any intricacies between the two. It's one that I have no interest in reading.
