    I used to drive an F-250 with a big 460 in it around town. 8 MPG and all the torque you could ever want. It was great

    • @nathanmcdonald610
      @nathanmcdonald610 10 месяцев назад +2

      I always loved the 460. My first truck in high school was a Bricknose F-150 which had the 5.0L Windsor V8 in it, it was no 460 but it had more than enough pep for a 16 year old boy lol. I drove 460 farm trucks and stuff though over the years and that big block torque is unmistakable. They always feel like they are one throttle blip away from roasting the tires, loved everything about driving them except the fuel mileage lol. I drive a Coyote 5.0L F-150 these days and it'd run circles around those old 460's and makes tons of power, but it's just not quiet the same as a big block.

    Interesting note - this is the exact same firing sequence as the Chevy first gen small block. Numbered differently because Ford and GM number the cylinders different.

    • @WilliamMoser
      @WilliamMoser  7 лет назад +13

      It is interesting, there are lots of repeats like this - if you look at positional firing order rather than numerical firing order there are only 8 possible combinations for a given crankshaft configuration. 4 of these combinations fire each cylinder in one bank then each cylinders in the other bank, and from what i've seen only 3 of the remaining combinations have been used for any V8. No idea why the fourth (or 8th) combination hasn't been used but I haven't looked into it very deeply.
