The day I obeyed Gods call to be baptized, that was the turning point in my spiritual life! I became alive, started growing, started hearing Gods voice, the Holy Spirit started sanctifying me and prepared me for the baptism with the Holy Spirit as well! It is imperative to your relationship with God!

I didn't realise I was rebelling. I was born again in 1999 but haven't been baptised. 1. commanded by Jesus 2.public confession of my faith. 3. a portrayal of what happened to me at salvation. 4. identify self with body of Christ. 5 It drives a stake to declare I am a follower of Jesus. 6. affirms my belief an Christ and the promise of a bodily resurrection. -I need to do this for these reasons.

He said ^lets see what the Bible teaches" then he overlooked so many important scriptures on the topic.
      1. He said that baptism different than salvation.
      Jesus said.
      Mark 16:16
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
      2. He said you're saved when you trust Christ. Notice in the first Gospel message. First, they were baptized immediately.
Then Peter told them why the were baptized, Its " for the forgiveness of sins. "
      Acts 2:37‭-‬38
Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Does he believe that you're saved without your sins being forgiven?)
      It puts us in Christ!
      Galatians 3:27
For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Perhaps he believes putting on Christ isn't important?)
I notice he didn't site this verse.
      "Saves us "
      I Peter 3:21
Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
There are many other verses that address the topic that he didn't cover. I understand why the people are so confused because he talked abiut how important it is and then says you're still saved without it!
I'm not in any way saying that there is something powerful in the water but there is power in our obedience! I suggest you look at everything the scriptures say not just picking a few verses to make points that fit your doctrine.
Finally, remember that this verse doesn't make the other veses null and void.
      Eph 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

The sins are washed away through belief not baptism, that's crystal clear. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord. Justification comes always through faith alone in Christ alone... Read the verses before and after, proper exegesis....

@@mauricegibney8449 Peter didn’t say that. He specifically said repent of your sins (turn away from sinning)and be baptized FOR the forgiveness of sins. Yes, you have to believe that Jesus was the son of God but according to Peter it is the act of baptism that washes your sins away. Dr. Stanley is wrong what he is telling people here. Just to believe in Jesus doesn’t save you. To believe that you have to ignore all the times in the Bible that people were told to be baptized. Peter specifically says that you have to be baptized too receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. If you are never baptized you don’t receive it. Jesus told Nichodemus no man can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of the water and the spirit. Baptism is a requirement it’s not just symbolism.

@@kerrybray1475 Absolutely. According to Dr. Stanley, at the very point at which Saul (Paul) was told, "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord," he shouldn't have had any sins to wash away. He was already a believer. So Dr. Stanley totally jumped ship on that one. And if one cares to study the passage in Greek, he will find that "be baptized", "wash away they sins" and "calling on the name of the Lord" all occur at the same time.
The Ephesians to whom Paul wrote on Eph 2 had already been baptized - some of them twice. His rule seems to be: "If a particular passage doesn't say it, then it's not necessary." He sees Acts 16: 31 and can't find repentance, but automatically inserts it. He can't find loving God. He just inserts it. He can't even find calling on the name of the Lord, but he adds it.
It just seems to me that Mr. Stanley gets more of his doctrine from the Baptist Manual than from the Bible.

Mr Stanley seems to be infected by the terrible false teaching of the Baptists. They rob baptism of its spiritual significance. But it is simple: In Christ one is on the way of salvation and the only way to get in Christ is to believe, repent and be baptized in Him, in other words, being immersed in His name (provided there is enough water available). That is the pure and simple truth of God's design.

Yes, Mark 16:16 says: "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." Baptism is for those who believe, if you look through all of scripture, people are saved by grace and then baptized. The order is never in reverse. I understand that when parents baptize infants, they feel like they are being faithful to the Lord and doing as he commanded. But when you are in the presence of the Lord you won't say, "Can you please honor my parents wishes for me?" God only has children of God, not grandchildren or great grandchildren. You can't rest on the laurels of your parents. The Lord commands you to be baptized by your own faith. Using "household" as a reason to baptize your infant just seems like nitpicking to fit your narrative. If you look at the Jesus himself he wasn't baptized till about 30!

@@carlpaulino9412 Correct. Or they will go into unbelievable twists and gyrations to get around it. There are churches, however, that believe exactly what you believe on the subject of baptism. The Church of Christ is one. Very, very few - if any - Baptist Churches ever teach the truth on baptism. Adrian Rogers would get close, so close that one would think he would just about to get there. Then he'd back away, bound by the Baptist Manual. At least I can say that the Church of Christ uses no official manual, no creed book, no confession of faith, etc. There was a time, 150 years ago, when a Baptist preacher would baptize a person for the remission of sins. That time is long past.

Amen Brendan. We attended a Church of Christ many years ago. That's where we learned the significance of Baptism. We were shocked to READ WHAT THE BIBLE ACTUALLY SAYS ABOUT IT. . . .after hearing what is preached about it (doctrines of men) for so many years. I have no idea why they fight against what is WRITTEN so vehemently but it is very disconcerting for those who are led in the "sinners prayer" each week instead.
More recently we discovered that the "Christian Church" believes in the scriptural meaning and significance of Baptism. Maybe not "all" of them but many to most of them!

typical Baptists always taking notes. I would prefer to focus on Bro Stanley rather than writing.

Did not the Lord's disciples take notes ? Probably. The reason why they are taking notes is evident that they are listening 😃

They need to take notes and determine if he is following the scriptures. I like him but he ignores so many passages and facts on this topic.
