Why does everyone always argue about this? The Lord Jesus was Baptized, this it was pretty important. The Bible says we should be Baptized…. So why not just….. be Baptized? Leave nothing to doubt. I want to be Baptized and I want to Baptize as many believers as I possibly can, it’s on my heart to do so.

At the 7:40 mark he lies and says baptism follows salvation and the bible mentions nowhere that baptism saves us please read these passage from. 1 Peter 3:21-22 New King James Version (NKJV) There is also an antitype which now saves us-baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. Mark 16:15-16 New International Version 15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

"Saves us " I Peter 3:21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, There are many other verses that address the topic that he didn't cover. I understand why the people are so confused because he talked abiut how important it is and then says you're still saved without it! I'm not in any way saying that there is something powerful in the water but there is power in our obedience! Mr Stanley seems to be infected by the terrible false teaching of the Baptists. They rob baptism of its spiritual significance. But it is simple: In Christ one is on the way of salvation and the only way to get in Christ is to believe, repent and be baptized in Him, in other words, being immersed in His name (provided there is enough water available). That is the pure and simple truth of God's design.

[Act 22:16 KJV] 16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. 1Pe 3:21 The like figure whereunto [even] baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

The Church of Christ is one. Very, very few - if any - Baptist Churches ever teach the truth on baptism. Adrian Rogers would get close, so close that one would think he would just about to get there. Then he'd back away, bound by the Baptist Manual. At least I can say that the Church of Christ uses no official manual, no creed book, no confession of faith, etc. There was a time, 150 years ago, when a Baptist preacher would baptize a person for the remission of sins. That time is long past.

Yes, Mark 16:16 says: "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." Baptism is for those who believe, if you look through all of scripture, people are saved by grace and then baptized. The order is never in reverse. I understand that when parents baptize infants, they feel like they are being faithful to the Lord and doing as he commanded. But when you are in the presence of the Lord you won't say, "Can you please honor my parents wishes for me?" God only has children of God, not grandchildren or great grandchildren. You can't rest on the laurels of your parents. The Lord commands you to be baptized by your own faith. Using "household" as a reason to baptize your infant just seems like nitpicking to fit your narrative. If you look at the Jesus himself he wasn't baptized till about 30!

Yes, you have to believe that Jesus was the son of God but according to Peter it is the act of baptism that washes your sins away. Dr. Stanley is wrong what he is telling people here. Just to believe in Jesus doesn’t save you. To believe that you have to ignore all the times in the Bible that people were told to be baptized. Peter specifically says that you have to be baptized too receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. If you are never baptized you don’t receive it. Jesus told Nichodemus no man can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of the water and the spirit. Baptism is a requirement it’s not just symbolism.

@@kerrybray1475 Absolutely. According to Dr. Stanley, at the very point at which Saul (Paul) was told, "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord," he shouldn't have had any sins to wash away. He was already a believer. So Dr. Stanley totally jumped ship on that one. And if one cares to study the passage in Greek, he will find that "be baptized", "wash away they sins" and "calling on the name of the Lord" all occur at the same time. The Ephesians to whom Paul wrote on Eph 2 had already been baptized - some of them twice. His rule seems to be: "If a particular passage doesn't say it, then it's not necessary." He sees Acts 16: 31 and can't find repentance, but automatically inserts it. He can't find loving God. He just inserts it. He can't even find calling on the name of the Lord, but he adds it. It just seems to me that Mr. Stanley gets more of his doctrine from the Baptist Manual than from the Bible.

In Romans 6:3_7 " Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were buried therefore with Him just as Christ. Was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with Him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like His. We know that our old self was crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. Sorry baptism is need to be saved and put into a new life by dying to the old life.

Go to Galatians 3:26-28 For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith. For as many of you were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew or Greek, is no male or female, for you are all one inChrist Jesus. With faith in Jesus Christ and being baptized for the remission of sins you become a child of God and placed into Christ.

@@brianmessinger3984 it is water baptism that one comes into contact with the blood of Christ. The one baptism described in Ephesians 4 is water baptism and not Holy Spirit baptism. Study more in Acts to see that this was the mode of baptism that was used.

No, salvation is before baptism. Baptism is a public proclamation of what happened internally. Baptism is commanded of us, but it is not a requirement for salvation. Water is not blood.
