Also in some markets the Z8 isn't that much more when they have deals. I have a Z6ii and a Z8 and the Z8 is in another world in many ways. I will keep the Z6ii, it's still produces great fikes and is a low light king. The UK price of the Z6iii is £2700, that's over 3400 USD. Save a little more and get a Z8 IMO. 😊
Very good review Raymond. Informative and well delivered. I’m happy with my Z8 with my Z6 in my back pocket so to speak but this is undoubtedly a remarkable camera at the price point. A videographer’s dream camera
Looks like a good camera if someone wants to get into that segment I guess. Owning the Z9, Z7 and ZF, this really doesn't fit anywhere for me. I am hoping they eventually come out with a Z series camera that will be in the medium format sensor range. Not holding my breath though. Thanks for going through everything Ray.
It looks like the color profiles downloads and instant update downloads straight to camera (not to card) all depend on using the cloud access. Since the Z6iii also has the dreaded flippy screen I will just keep my Zf. I have a Z9 for the wildlife work, so I like the lighter and smaller Zf for a fun camera and high ISO work. I wish they had included dedicated bird detection. I think it might have influenced more DSLR wildlife shooters to switch to mirrorless. It doesn't sound like a serious wildlife camera without bird detection. I know it made a huge difference in my Z9. I remember paying $2500 for my D750.
No pre-order for me, since I have the Z8 & Zf. But the Z6III & MB-N14 grip are on my list for 2025, as rebates / promos kick in. I pre-ordered the Z8 and just months later it dropped a few hundred $'s (still, no regrets), I suspect holiday incentives will hit the Z6III in the same way. Then likely hovering around $2200 by spring 2025 (my guess). I love the semi-stacked sensor approach, combining fast readout (9ms) with a mechanical shutter. Best of both worlds. Another industry-leading release from Nikon! Would love to see more tests to see how far / fast the electronic sensor can be pushed (bird wings, golf club, helicopter rotors etc) but for high-high speed subjects, there's the mechanical shutter too. Flippy screen is a minus for me but it's ok. As long as the Z8/9 4-axis tilt screens stay on the pro bodies, I'm good. Also need to review all included / excluded modes and features. Congrats to Nikon on this epic launch!
Epic for sure. Yeah, I think they were trying to keep or attract the vloggers. Not my first choice. I'm very much eager as well to see what this sensor can do. It seems like its weak spot is DR ... but if video results match my other Zeds, I'm good.
I have been waiting for a small body side-kick for my Z9 which would bring decent video specs to the mix, and stopped holding my breath because I didn’t think Nikon would ever come out with what I had in mind. But when the teaser video dropped, the likelihood of a purchase jumped quite a bit, and now that I’ve seen the overviews, I’m very pleased with the outcome. I would have liked a more DR latitude on the sensor. Based on the preproduction measurements by Gerald Undone, DR is at best average. But with a little care this camera should be able to cover a lot of the low light scenarios where an FX3 or FX6 was needed for the 12800 dual-gain boost, and given the much lower price than either of those cine-centric cameras, the Z6III will be a great tool to have in the bag for two and a half thousand.
@@RaymondParkerPhoto Out of curiosity I checked used prices in the A7SIII. $200.00 MORE than a Z6III. Nikon has built a bargain even if a lot of Nikon users don’t quite understand the whole value proposition.
I cannot wait to get my hands on one of these! I love the flippy screen, I'm both happy and shocked that Nikon added one to this camera...I film myself with my camera, this will be verrry useful. I admit I was hoping for a bit of a MP bump but 24.5 with expeed 7 is fine...been using 24 for a long time. The $3900 CDN (after conversion and taxes) is bit of a large pill to swallow...where do I sell that kidney?
Cheers, Jason! As I said, I was hoping for a screen like the Z8-9. Having said that, I've been broken in with the Zf. So I'll manage 😀 Yes, our Canuck Buck doesn't help and it was a stretch, but this camera will save $ over the long run because it'll save on storage.
Well after long waiting we have expected more! and at this price point I would not go for it! would wait till drops to 2400 euros or so.. will use my z6ii and z6 as full time photographer.. or maybe go for z8 or z9 if they drop prices!
Hi Raymond :) I have no excuse ,But I have been shooting JPG all of My Digital life .../ Now I am learning PS n LRC , and want to shoot RAW ,, I heard You say HEIF 90% of the time (I am guessing that You would not do that if it would not give You, Great results) Could You do a Video about HEIF or point me n the right direction.... ThankYou for another Great Video :) :) :)
Hi Johny. I believe what you heard me say is that I use RAW High Efficiency* 99.9% of the time. It's so close to lossless RAW as to be indistinguishable, at least to my eye. The savings in terms of file size (and so, storage) is a real benefit.
@@RaymondParkerPhoto So very Kind of You to take the time to Explain this subject !!!! That answer will change the way that I shoot !!!! I really enjoy Your way of telling a story :) :) :)
I'm pretty disappointed. Technically, internally top. Housing too small and not ergonomic. I was expecting something in the style of the D200. The V-Logger Flip, rotating screen is impractical - a matter of taste of course. Basically a high-end vlogger camera.
Ray thanks so much for the shoutout, can't wait to share notes on the camera when both of our purchases arrive soon. I know you will love it :)
Can't wait!
Thank you Raymond. I will be putting my order in! Curious to try the HD 240 FPS in video…. 😊
Hope you enjoy it! (link in Description) 😉
Looks like the Z6iii will accompany my Zf as my tools of choice for everything. Thanks for you 2 cents I appreciate your opinion! 👍🏾
Good choice!
Was about to pull the trigger for the Z8, but this seems like a true upgrade from the z6ii. I'm glad they still use the same battery format.
Yep. Good choice
You can use the same Battery in the Z8 which is way ahead of this Z6III

Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, looks like it'll be another video winner.
The best review and the first to show at 17:40 the color profiles
Thanks!

Appreciate the breakdown!
Hello, is the dynamic range of this camera the same or worse than Fujifilm xh2s?
I haven't used the XH2s. I don't yet have the Z6III. So I can't compare.
Do they finally add rules of third guides overlay, or maybe Z6V will fix it?
They've always been there.

I’m upset it can’t do 4k 120fps
The Z6III has 4K 120p
the dynamic range is not great, the rest looks pretty impresive
Agreed. It'll be interesting, as I said, to see how the files from the Z6III match up with the other Z Series cameras. If they do, I'm good.
