    As usual, incredibly detailed yet concise and to-the-point video. Thanks for this great first look video! I am really hyped about this camera. Manual lens focus features, new audio preamps, updated evf… All great additions! Direct upload to the cloud is also quite interesting. I was always on the fence for ZF due to ergonomics, Z6iii seems like a camera made for me.

    Great review. I love the features. I primarily take photos only but the video specs are awesome. I agree, I wish it was 30 MP+ but for now the 24.5 MP works. Finally, Nikon should consider offering an A version and B version of the Z6 III. The A version can be what they have now with the flip out screen targeted to videographers. The B version can have the flip up or down screen found on the Z8 or Z9. To help with production the B version can have a slightly longer lead time. I’m sure we as photographers would be willing to wait a few weeks longer to get our preferred screen. OR make the screen interchangeable either by the user or authorized shop. Overall an awesome camera. I’m getting one as soon as I save up enough pennies.

    • @btonelli
      @btonelli  11 дней назад +1

      Thanks for watching.
      I find it funny that so many people complained about not having a flip out rotating display for years, now that they have it they want it back to the way it was.
      I understand both sides to the argument, but I just find it funny.
      One could argue the display makes sense for this camera as it’s designed for video more so I feel where this screen does come in handy.
      Yes more Nikon users are photographers but Nikon can’t rely on that market as much so they need to expand.

    I think that by-and-large, this is exactly what the market needed it to be (and what Nikon needed it to be); a carefully considered body with just the right mix of features for its target audience. This makes four bodies in a row now that Nikon has hit outta the park. And I've no doubt there will be firmware updates coming for this camera as the months go on, same as the other Expeed 7 models.

    • @btonelli
      @btonelli  12 дней назад +1

      Yes I agree. I think really the only fault here is still 24 megapixels. Yes it’s more than enough for most, but Nikon has stayed with 24 MP for the past 10 years and to many it feels more of the same. While the tech has improved by leaps and bounds the number still remains

    • @RobertFalconer1967
      @RobertFalconer1967 12 дней назад +1

      @@btonelli This is core-requisite to how Nikon have often operated historically, though. They eschew the numbers to provide a holistic experience that exceeds the sum of the parts. Moving to 33MP, for example, provides only a tiny bump in linear resolution, while at the same time possibly would have comprised noise performance. Meanwhile, that tiny resolution bump can easily be made up for now in post with wonderful tools like Adobe's new AI Super Resolution feature.
      I think Nikon understood all of this, and again, made very carefully balanced choices here. Remember, the EOS-R3 is only 24MP, and the forthcoming R1 will apparently remain at 24MP, too. It still remains the sweet spot for resolution, high ISO performance, data workflow management, and cost.

      @@btonelli My assumption-and this is only a guess, mind you-is that Nikon is targeting the slightly more informed hybrid shooter with this release, as opposed to pixel chasers. After nearly 25 years now, it wouldn't surprise me to see the entire market move away from endless megapixel increases (as they realize that they may be gradually reaching a sufficiency/usability ceiling) as the sole metric of "improvement," and instead focus more on factors such as DR, noise performance, improved operational and hybrid capabilities...and, of course, more in-camera AI features.
      Again, this is just me speculating here.

    I really like to know a bit more about this half stack sensor. But I think when we reach end of this year the Z8 probably reach a very sweet point for its pricing. I can see it is possible to get Z8 at about 1/3 more money than Z6iii and with Nikon continues to back up its products by releasing new firmware updates on Z9 and Z8, it make it all that more difficult for buyers to make that decision. Myself I will probably go for the Z8.

    • @btonelli
      @btonelli  23 дня назад

      Z8 has a number of promotions currently that puts it close to this camera in certain markets. It’s going to be a hard decision for some and this was a concern I had when the pricing came out.
      I figured like before Nikon would come in at a better price than Sony and Canon to be extremely competitive. This time they decided to price it at a premium which I feel may not work in the long term especially with the Z8 being discounted. I could be wrong, it need to see how the market reacts. I expect if Z6III numbers aren’t as strong as they hoped, promotions will kick in very soon.

    The 24 is fine , no problems with that.
    The only minor disappointment I have is the AF , I was hoping Nikon would give us a bit of a leap-frog with this similar to what Sony did with the A7R V
    As a Z9 owner since 2022 and recently ZF , It wouldn't have made me mad, quite the opposite .
    Now It seems like we would have to wait for the Z9 II / H to get an actual improved AF (yes I know it's better than Z6II )

    For the birders: You only make heavy crops out of your photos if you don't have enough focal length with your lens. Otherwise the statements that 24 MP is not enough are not very substantial. And the difference between 33 MP and 24 MP is only 9 MP. That's not enough to get any noticeable improvement.

    • @btonelli
      @btonelli  11 дней назад

      Actually there is a difference. When you total the vertical resolution and horizontal resolution difference which is about 1.23 times in both measurements it’s about 1.51 times which gives you an about 51% more pixels to work with.
      While you aren’t getting double the resolution you are getting more cropping power and still maintaining resolution.

For me they are over 90% fantastic - only lacking a bit in the AFC department. I barely miss any focus, even with faster moving subjects. However, I was interested in looking seriously at replacing them with the new Z6iii. However, I now know it has that stinking flip around screen for videographers. I shoot over 70% of all my gigs with the flip down screen. If I do this with the Z6iii, I'll have the stupid screen flipped off centre and hanging out the side of the camera. This is a deal breaker, so looks like my Z6ii's, will be lasting a very long time. Thanks Nikon for throwing all us photographers under the bus!!
