Fantastic review Antonio. Well spoken, well researched, and from someone who has used the Z611 and Z8, you can speak from knowledge of both those, competing cameras. I am getting the Z6111 and your review helped. Keep them coming if you can. Thanks for the excellent review
Well done! I've watched a few reviews on the Z6iii and I think this one was the the easier to relate to, concise, and with no hype and waffle. I appreciated your style.
Great video and review Antonio! I ordered my Z6iii just before finding your review, and was feeling a tad nervous about adding mirrorless to my beloved D850. Youir review was honest, erudite, and above all, a complete vindfication of my purchase! I'll report back when it arrives. Do the Z 28-400mm and the 180-600mm Z mount Telezoom. Great stuff!
Thank you! I am not very interested in the Z6iii, because I have the Zf and prefer its aesthetics. Besides, I am just an amateur, who shoots mostly on film, so all these fancy features won't be of much use to me. That said, I did like the review. Firstly, it was not overshadowed with looping, grating noise (erm, music they call it); I could actually hear what you were saying. Secondly, it was Nikon focused and clear; no beating around the bush, like an advert, or overly "flowery" sappy fawning (as if you're trying to sell something), just straight talking, comparing the features. Anyone listening would, I think, leave with a clear choice as to which camera they'd need if they were trying to decide between this new thing and the Z8. Yes, much, MUCH better than most of the other people introducing this new camera.
I loved your review. I have a Z6iii on order and I am so excited as it is supposed to ship today. I do mostly wildlife photography and much of it involves high shutter speed ergo high ISO. I think this cameras low noise capabilities almost make it a necessity for what I do. I watched just about every RUclips video out there and there were none more factual and telling folks what they really need to know. Most of the videos concentrated too much on video which is not of much interest to me. Keep your stuff coming, it is really helpful.
We just put it through its paces testing it out at a wedding event last night. We shot our D500s primary and backed up formals with the Z6III to compare quality. During the end of the event that soon changed over to the Z6III with no flash on a very dark dance floor. At ISO 14,000 (yes fourteen thousand) the images were absolutely amazing with very, very little noise/grain. The D500 usable ISO realistically maxes out at around 1600 for comparison. The skin tones are buttery smooth and even at higher ISO settings the noise looks like Tmax 400 (for those of you older shooters). I only shot a few video clips so I can't attest to the quality but what I saw looked excellent. Auto focus is (of course) miles ahead of our D500s and I love the tracking that is absent in the D500. I HATE the viewfinder with a passion. I also LOVE the viewfinder. I won't go into why because this isn't my review it's Antonio's. I will say having instant playback in the finder is very helpful as well as making all adjustments. Shutter is silent. Yes the Z6III takes non Nikon batteries. I shot this with mirrored menu settings from my D500 and didn't have any time to review the manual and all the goodies. I only upgrade bodies when major advancements have been made and this was one of them. The Kit lens is absolutely amazing. The Zoom could be smoother but the manual focus is buttery smooth and sensitive without overplay. WELL WORTH THE MONEY.
I will switch in the next few months from D750 to the Z6iii, i've been waiting so a long time for this awesome camera, I like the flippy screen, but I wish it would also have a sensor shield, like the Z8 and Z9, but anyway, it's ok! Greets from Vienna/Austria 😊😉👍
Very nicely done. I’m looking forward to the Z80. Professional-ish, but ASPC. If there is ASPC lens support, and 33MP-ish, and still ergonomically reasonable, I could go for that. It will need great ibis; my 80 year old hands shake. Subscribed.
I just bought the z6iii and will be using it over my D850 ot d750 for low light concert shooting. The D850 is sadly very poor in low light and I am tired of getting a very low percentage of usable shots. I am expecting this camera to delight me with its abilities. Will find out tomorrow after it arrives. I am also just fine with 24.5 MP. It is a perfectly good number for excellent shots including printing up to 13x19 at home.
@Chris-rj5kn How did the z6iii do for lowlight concert photography for you? That’s my main reason for wanting to buy it. I’m still using Nikon D700 and once in a while Nikon D800. The D800 is hit or miss in low light concert photography.
Thanks for this well-rounded review! Just a QQ. I currently own a Z9 and a D850 which I primarily use for wildlife photography. However, I've recently started dabbling in portrait photography. I was seriously hoping for a Z7iii with higher megapicel count that could ideally supplement Z9 for wildlife. Do you think Z6iii will be able to do that job as a back up camera as well as being a good body for portrait shoots. How is the autofocus on Z6iii with native and adapted glass and is 24 mp good enough for what I'm looking for? Z8 is out of my budget for now. Guess I'm asking for too much😊. Thank you!
I have a D750 and I mostly do travel photography. Landscapes, cityscapes, but also people, and wildlife. With the DSLR, I was never willing to get a superzoom lens because of the optical compromises. With mirrorless, some of the compromises are still there, but IQ-wise it is a big step up. Still, the 28-400 is f/8 from 200mm onwards, which is darker than I want to go. The 24-200 is better, and the 24-120 is even better. I have the F-mount version of that lens, which sometimes has awful bokeh. I think the Z version is much better. But again, the 24-200 might be worth considering as well. One of the issues in investing in Z is value. I got my D750 used for GBP550, and my longest zoom is the Tamron 100-400, which I also got used for GBP550. This is great value, and if I'd go to the Z-mount (for reasons of IBIS, AF coverage, exposure preview, EVF image review, etc) and get native glass, the value will be so much worse. I could adapt my existing glass but then I wouldn't be making the most out of the system. The other issue is weight. If I take a similar 3-lens approach to what I have now, I'd get the Nikon 14-30 (replacing my 18-35), 24-120 and 100-400. Together with a Z6 III I wouldn't be saving any weight. Which, as a 1-bag-travel person, is something I'm always looking to do. Which brings me back to the superzooms and their improvements compared to DSLR. But also, it makes me look at other brands. For E-mount there is a Sony 20-70/4 and Tamron 50-400. I could cover a lot of range, including some ultrawide, with just those two lenses. I don't like the Sony ergonomics, but their AF is very good, and actually, from a specsheet point of view, I think the A7 IV might suit me better than the Z6 III (I don't do much video at all). There is another thought as well. When I travel, my DSLR usually isn't my only camera. I will typically carry an RX100 V as well (though I might replace it - again, because of ergonomics). Sometimes I have that camera as a wide/normal tool, and the DSLR with 100-400 for wildlife. This is interesting because it places less emphasis on having to have great short/medium DSLR zoom lenses. But the issue with Nikon's superzooms is that I have hard time seeing where they "fit in". The 28-400 is quite slow, and the 24-200 doesn't go short or long enough to replace 2 more dedicated lenses. The Tamron 50-400 isn't available for Z-mount. And if it were, that still leaves the question of what to combine it with. Though I guess the 14-30 could make an interesting combination. I realise my thoughts may not resonate much with other people. So many Z6 III reviews seem to come from the POV of professional users. Wedding and event photographers for example. Which, honestly, is making me think that maybe sticking with my trusty old D750 isn't a bad option. The sensor might perform a little bit better in terms of noise as well, because it doesn't have to do AF duty or have a fast readout. Still, the advantages of mirrorless do appeal to me.
Kinda agree, but the Z8 has a potential heating issue which can ruin data. For us who shoot all day in hairy conditions - potential desert shoots, that is not good. I may just get a 2nd Z9. Oh, Nikon... here is my money... LOL
Much nicer viewfinder than in a7rv? Check the specs before making a video....if you're talking about maybe slightly brighter...sony has twice the resolution

Much appreciated!
An excellent and well-balanced review. I look forward to more of your reviews.
Great video. I use the small rig batteries with my Z8. Works perfectly and you can recharge the battery itself via a usb-c cable.

Cheers for the open and honest review mate, Looking at getting mine soon and was great to have a clear review to listen to
Thank you!

I also have now D750. Still wait. Will z7iii appear? I only do photography, no video.
Z62 shooter here. Will be purchasing another mark 2 as my backup. Thanks for the vid!

Nice review. I've used K&F Concept batteries on my Z6 III with. no problems.
Grade 10 for Nikon! I really like the control panel. I would like it to be bigger than the DSLR to give us more information.

thank you mate, got a lot out of this vid!
Great video, thank you! Do you feel there's a huge difference between the viewfinders in the Zf vs the Z6iii despite the 2mil dot addition?
Very nice 🙂👍
You mentioned not using 3D focus... what focus mode do you use the most and why
you really did great
Thanks Dude

Precapture is only in jpeg? I would turn down the brightness on the viewfinder as well.
i love everything about z 6iii, except flip screen, I will buy z8 😁😁
If I had to choose one, I would go for the tilting screen over the flip screen tbh.

I have 850. I'm contemplating to sell and upgrade to z6III but z8 is so tempting... I usually shoot at night, in lounges and occasionally people
One day you’ll have both!
Can’t wait to see Z7iii. That one might make me leave Sony 😊
Not gonna be a Z7iii. They already have the Z8.
@@ayanat.miller3929 I hope they do especially for people who can’t or won’t spend the money on the Z8.
A few things, but wait for the firmware update for the Z8.
Z8/9 & Z6III hadn’t that same recording time

Sony a7iii moment for Nikon, in this segment.
Oops... I already ordered! (with 24-120 & FTZII)

Z6iii can't be used with 3rd party batteries. Only with OEM Nikon batteries!
So what?
also, not true
Good morning sir hi how are you I am watching kashmir well come sir iam intersting photography and video s camra choice you
Switched from Nikon to Canon because they needed too long to drop exactly this.
You pay for speed with a stop worse noise.
Bro, you gotta work on that video quality
Too much talking. Not enough examples.
Z6III is too expensive !!!
Also poor auto focus 😂
No to both.
