FYI, the Pan America has two seat height settings that would accommodate riders with shorter inseams. The Pan America Special "Adaptive Ride Height" factory installed option lowers the bike/seat height as you come to a stop, again helping those riders with shorter inseams.

The adaptive ride height was so smooth I didn’t even notice it initially. A very cool feature!

Plenty of get up and go with the Rev Max 1250 engine. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the Pan America. Ride safe. 👊👍

No doubt. The cruise control is probably a must just to keep your speed in check!

I too am not a traditional Harley rider, as a matter of fact, I have never owned a Harley before, I shopped around quite a while, I own a older Triumph Tiger, and had narrowed it down to a BMW GS, or a Pan America, I ended up buying a 2022 Pan America, now it's not a perfect motorcycle, but the longer I ride it the more I like it, Yes, I would like a shaft drive like the BMW, but My old tiger has got 70,000 miles and is on it's third chain, so it is not that big of a deal, I don't like the side stand, the biggest problem I have come across is the Harley tech's over filling the engine with oil, came from the factory over filled, and was pumping oil out the breather hose, oil coated all over the left side of the engine, then at My 1000 mile the service the tech. overfilled it so full that when I pulled the dip stick out, oil came pouring out, it seems that if you use the upright marks on the back side of the dip stick, it is over filled, because you are supposed to check oil level on the side stand, the engineer who designed that dip stick should fired, if you set the level on the side stand, like it states in the manual, if you stand the bike straight up, the oil just barely touches the tip of the stick, the thing I like the most is the power output, I have been spoiled by owning a VMAX for 20 years, and I can't pass up an on-ramp blast on this bike, I also don't miss pushing My 900 pound Rocket 3 around the garage.

Glad you are enjoying the bike. As someone who has ridden other brands in the same Adventure Touring category you will have the kind of perspective that says whether Harley hit the mark or not. Sorry to hear that you had some issues with the techs overfilling your oil!
      Thanks for sharing!

@@CaledoniaKeys Thanks, I don't think My local dealer will make that mistake again, I went in and talked it over with the service manager, He was all butt hurt about the rating I gave them on the customer satisfaction survey, I told him that next time if you don't over fill it, I will give you a ten, but since your tech did that, you got a score that I felt was fair, got good weather for a couple more days, going to ride the heck out of it before the snow fly's.

Just bought mine 2022 pan am special. I’ve ripped it everywhere and all over. Pan am is excellent on the highway but not the best off-road. Powerful motor but the frame and weight off-road isn’t the best. I also have stock tires on it so knobbies are a must off-road with the pan am. 👍 Great video!

Congratulations on the new bike! Tires definitely make a huge difference as well. Thanks for the comment and enjoy the ride!

I've watched riders go over the toughest trails so the capability of the bike is extremely well. And it is hard to pick up. The stock tires are adequate offroad unless it is muddy or wet. It does well over most services, I've been in Rock, sand, and gravel with no issues. Turn the ABS off, and set the appropriate offroad mode.

@@grayghost1423 That’s awesome to hear. Snowbird Biker has shared a similar opinion to yours (loving the Pan Am Special) and he is a traditional Harley guy who has also done some long range touring on it. I haven’t seen a bike yet that appeals to everyone and there can be an element of bad luck. That said, my local Harley dealer said if you ever don’t like your ride go in and tell them what you don’t like. They may be able to fix the issue with some modifications.

Thanks for the video. Didn't sound like the bike had much soul. Seems like HD is trying to compete with Tech heavy big boys.

It is definitely built for a different market than the traditional Harley fan base. I did have a chance to book a “24 hour” test ride and will be posting that video soon.
      Thanks for the comment.

I enjoyed your video. I guess I’m a “traditional” Harley rider. I’ve been a Harley guy for years. I’m also the owner of a Pan America Special. It’s different than my Road Glide, but I love it. I’ve recently rode it from Nova Scotia to Florida and back, and it performed flawlessly. It’s agile, has lots of power, and is great on gravel roads. You mentioned the sear height. The Adaptive Ride Height option, which lowers the bike up to two inches when coming to a stop, solves that problem for many shorter riders. It also helps when moving the bike around in the parking lot. I’m sure you’ll learn more about the bike when you get it for 24 hours. Cheers

Thanks for the additional perspective as a traditional Harley rider who also owns this bike! I am currently riding in the rain this week on vacation but will be finishing up the 24 hour test ride video soon! I still don’t know if I would want to be much shorter than 6’ as the bike still seems tall to me. Then again, I have never had a bike that I couldn’t flatfoot so I may be making too much of it. Being an owner who rides this bike regularly, you will have much more insight than I will after a brief few hours on the road. You definitely have laid down the miles for a solid test! A bit of a spoiler from my test ride…the bike just wanted to go fast so I had to really watch that!
      Ride on!

@@CaledoniaKeys I feel bad for D Mac, but if you check Pan Am posts, he likes to share his is junk. Mine is definitely not. It's done me well, 0 codes or issues including a trip through Oregon, Montana, and Wyoming. Pounding it on mountain roads and some light offroad. I'm a HD traditional rider, and I love my PA.

@@andersd8956 where did you get that statistic?? There is a Iron Butt Rider that has over 25k on his and I am still digging mine. Do you have one? And you don't have to be a HD rider to know about the bike, bit riding one is a good start. I can only share my experience as a owner of one and what I see at my dealership. One that 3 employees, including the service manager owns one. None of them have had issues either. However it is a new bike and anything new will have growing pains and if you get a bad one it's not fun for you. Having a dealer that knows the bikes goes a long way too. And I was up there today, 1 PA on the floor, and lots of Streetglides, Roadglides, and Softails. No Revolution Sportsters. Whatever shortcomings the motor has HD is in the Revolution for the long haul. Look at the oil pump in the first 3 years of the M8, it's straight now.

@@andersd8956 I'll give you the blue tooth is trash, I don't use it. But not on the other points. I have not had issues. Rode on and off road this summer on a trip to Yellowstone, 1 single code at 10,300 ft and cleared. Can't call that electronic issues at all. The bike thought there was a intake problem in the thin air. Go ride one before you write it off, and buy what you like. I can only share my experience. If you actually research all the forums, you'll find they all have lemons.

@@grayghost1423 It's also my second PA that's been junk, my 21 was bought back because of catastrophic engine failure, my 22 sounds like the 21 did before it blew up, dealer won't do anything till it does, not exactly a bike your gonna ride very far from home. Maybe yours was built on a Wednesday by happy workers, but how did I get 2 that were built on Mondays? We have to face it, the PA is a neat first try by HD but the bad far outweighs the good experiences out there, and its true it is officially the most traded HD of 2022 hmmm 🤔
