  • This is the Alta Alyssa Speaker review. Alta audio makes high-end audiophile speakers. Few months back, we reviewed their floorstanding speaker and now we have their newly released Alta Alyssa bookshelf speakers. I actually prefer the new Alta Alyssa.

    Im so glad I saw this review. I have the opportunity to acquire this speaker for a very good price, but haven't been able to hear it. You described this so well, I could sense that it may be my perfect speaker. I wasn't quite sure about the appearance, but seeing them in that finish in your room relieved that concern. They look gorgeous. Thank you for all the effort that went into this superb video.

    Great review, Jay. That crossover is a thing of beauty. I’ve just spent £700 on components for the crossovers in my Monitor Audio speakers and they look very similar. Add that to a brilliant cabinet design and I can see where the money has gone.

    1. I am looking to buy Alta Audio Alyssa Speakers so I would greatly appreciate your input. What is most expensive speakers that the Alyssa Speakers can equal in sound?
    2. Will the Audio Alyssa Speakers give me a long, huge holographic wide sound stage,
    3. Do they also have a nice ceiling to floor sound and can play all types of music really well?
    4. Will the Alta Alyssa Speakers sound great even in a UNTREATED room?

    A good review🤗👍 Would love to see a review, where you could do a more detail comparison between the Gershmann Studio II vs. Alta Alyssa vs. Buckhardt two way monitors. What are strongest suites of each speaker, listener and equipment match point of view. Thank you in advance🤗👌 In Europe there is no opportunity to hear Gersmann & Alta Audio speakers. So, if you're aiming to serve better global followers with this channel, it would a great if you'd be able to take into account that all followers does not have an opportunity to hear some gear. And Buchardt you've to order, but e.g B&W, Focal, Dynaudio and Kef speakers are globally available, and are great from reference point of view when doing comparisons. The most audiophiles has easy access to these previously mentioned speaker brands. Just my two cents.

      @@juliangst although they look simple and use a 1st order crossover (more preferable to me), the cabinet is actually much more beautiful than these and probably much better built. @@juliangst I know what you mean, I had initially ordered the new black vine color but the never came, so I listened to the heritage specials and bought them in the spot. I'm glad the special 40s were back ordered because the heritage special are much much better. In the long run, their look is timeless whereas I probably would have got tired of the black vine as they are quite different, and tastes change over time

    When it comes to Hifi one of my biggest gripes is bookshelf speakers at thousands of dollars. They aren't worth it compared to towers at that price or less in many cases. A 27lb pair of bookshelf speakers is 5k? Way overpriced for what you are getting. You can tell me they will make toast for you in the morning and it still wont impress me. You can get some crazy good top to bottom performance from some towers at 2k to 5k and towers cost more to make because of larger heavier cabinets with more drivers. Example...my friend bought a pair of new, sealed up Canton Reference 3.2 speakers for $4500 shipped. They weigh 108lbs each and are handmade in Germany. They have been in business since 1972. World class engineering and performance. No way on Gods green Earth the 27lb bookies are out performing the Reference Cantons. No replacement for displacement. I'm not saying the Alta bookshelves are a poor or just ok performer. I'm sure they are incredible for the size. But 5k for bookshelves is money poorly spent considering you can get well built towers for that much or even less. You could even get some 2k bookshelves....like let's say the Gallo Strada 2 and get 2 REL subwoofers for 2k and save 1k to get better performance. Just silly to be at such a high price point to get what you get.

    • @Jayiyagi
      @Jayiyagi  3 года назад

      This is a common misconception. Bookshelves can outperform floorstanders in the similar price range. Theres pros and cons to both bookshelf and floorstanding designs as I mention in the video
      Also it is a misconception that floor-standers cost more to manufacture or design. Sometimes a good bookshelf can be more of a challenge.
      I understand that you feel like you are getting more when you purchase something thats 100 lbs versus 27 lbs
      But it doesn’t work like in reality when it comes to audio...
      for instance; the sound artist 100lb speaker I reviewed that costs 3k usd or so is no where near as good as the alta alyssas in many aspects
      Again, I’m not trying to convince you of anything. Merely sharing my experience and at the end of the day, if you find value in 5k floorstanders instead of bookshelves. I’m sure you can find one or may already have (idk)

    • @ryanschipp8513
      @ryanschipp8513 3 года назад

      @@Jayiyagi Jay....please address my exact comparison. Did you even look up what the Cantons are? I really appreciate your knowledge overall but in this case.....are you trying to tell me the 5k Altas will outperform the Canton reference 3.2s??? The Altas somehow triumph all laws of physics? Come on man. On the flip side....I have experienced towers....namely Canton 890.2's that image.and soundstage better than any bookie I've owned. Honestly....to me there is a misconception regarding bookshelves having this magical ability to be better than a tower.
