Just got the Kone Pro Air yesterday and this review is spot on! At first I was a bit thrown off by the shape since I have never used any of the past Kone models but after about 15 minutes everything clicked. The weight, shape, and performance of this mouse is fantastic! I love the unique RGB in the front and the quality is fantastic. This is definitely my new favorite mouse and I recommend anyone looking for a larger, lightweight ergo to check it out. It’s fantastic!

The extra mouse feet for the wired version are probably added because you can then remove the original ones to open it up (screws below it). So you can customize the wire. Paracording is a very populair mod for wired mice.

1% is based on what? Your own experience?
If companies like glorious are making it easier to mod your mouse with the ability to buy different cords then its definitely a larger community doing this then you are implying.

Rant from a ex-G403 user. Was looking to upgrade to a larger and lighter wireless mouse:
*This mouse is too damn small.
*The geometry of the right backside of the mouse forces a very uncomfortable grip for my pinky, and the tendon for my pinky is always under stress due to the weird grip and makes the wrist hurt after an hour or two of use.
*Also, due to the height difference between the 2 main buttons, i accidentally click the right button all the time, as there simply is not enough room for the ring finger to grip the mouse without touching the side of the button.
And i have normal 218x118mm hands. IDK what midgets these mice were made for. For little girls maybe?
    Cont. of rant:
*The optical switches are just hot garbage. Mushy with an inexact actuation point and long pre/post travel, compared to the mechanical switches in my old G403.
*The battery life lags behind the competition severely. I'm getting only 20-30h out of this rodent (with RGB on).
*The sides can get quite slippery during sweaty gaming sessions. The surface indents help little to alleviate the issue. Thinking of taping this sucker up.
    On the upside:
*The wireless connectivity has never had a hitch.
*The sensor has never had a hitch either, and i play CS:GO with the relatively low 500 eDPI (1000DPI x 0.5 in-game sens)
*The mouse feet are absolutely amazing.
*The best feeling and functioning scroll wheel i've ever used.
*Amazing shape and feel of the thumb buttons. Mechanical switches on those ones, imagine that.
*The charge cable is godlike. Almost can't feel it when i inadvertently need to plug it in, since the tiny battery ran out of juice.
*Good build quality, no creeks or rattle during normal use.
    *Love the thumb groove.
Overall, if Roccat would increase the width of the mouse by ~20%, changed the primary switches and filed off the stupid pinky bump, and address the other issues i listed above - i'd gladly throw my Eurocents at them.

I bought a roccat kone xtd mouse and a isku keyboard years ago, the keyboard macro controller stopped working once and they replaced it for me quickly. Both those devices probably 8 and 5 years old are still working but don't feel great. I decided to upgrade about a year ago to a roccat kone aimo mouse and a vulcan 121 aimo of which I probably should've just tried a different brand.
The keyboard isn't too bad, just a little pricey but the mouse I've had to replace 3 times now. Whatever you do, do not buy the kone aimo mouse as the mousewheel with either start to backpeddle on you very quickly and will rapidly get worse or the mouse wheel will stop working all together. I thought the last replacement I had gotten was gonna continue to work after about a month and a half but shortly after that it started to become so bad that I refused to use it while gaming and gave up on the 4th replacement as during that time and probably still right now roccat makes you cut the cord of the mouse and write down your rma number next to it instead of having you send the item back. That way they can render your half-useless item totally useless while you wait 2-4 weeks for your replacement unless you solder all 3 of them back together like I did. Thanks roccat

    • @vladimir9942
      @vladimir9942 2 года назад

I've had exactly the same experience with kone aimo mice. They develop issues with the wheel(wrong input on scrolling) after 2-3 months of usage. The RMA process is just dreadfully slow and renders you without a device for the duration as you have to cut the cord. The issue with Kone mice is the wheel encoder and unless it's been changed in the "Pro" version I'd recommend to stay away from the brand.
It seems that Roccat devices have degraded over the years. Kone XTD lasted about 3 years for me and roccat devices were supported on Linux, unlike other gaming devices. Now roccat has neither the durability nor the platform support. The only good point still is the 4d wheel but unless you want a wheel that can tilt looks somewhere else for gaming mouse.

I don't know if this has been requested but you should take a look at the Delux M800 (The 3335 version). I know you care about good value and this mouse cannot be beat in that category: Wireless USB-C at 70grams, Kailh gm 4.0, good build quality for 45 $ on Amazon or a bit more than 30 on AliExpress (bad mousefeet and questionnable sidebuttons though).

I've owned my Roccat Kone Pure for 6 years now and it's honestly all I need.
Only shame is that you can't really use the 2 extra mouse buttons as "true" additional buttons. You can just map a key or function to them.
I just want MORE buttons and not repurpose keyboard keys. But apparently that's just me, not many people like additional functionality.
It's incredibly difficult to use G1-G6 keys as F13-F18 on a keyboard and not many people try to do it that way.

Got my Kone pro air today and when i saw that there is no cable for the Dongle , i went out and got me a cable bevore i even tried to use it without. And comparded to my G-pro wireless and my G 703 the Grip is amazing . I play with low sens , and now i can just lift the mouse and make fast direction changes without loosing my Grip wich is a Gamechanger for me . Another pro are the long mouse 1 and 2 buttons wich help me with my hardcore clawgrip style.

What I like most is the design. I’ve grown up with the advent of gaming mice and it’s nice that there is a simple non gamerish design. I wish there was more out there with different colors.
I commute to work and take my mouse to and from work and the aesthetics of this are pleasing. It reminds me of the Endgame gear XM1.
    Pluses for me:
    Simple minimalist design
No holes in the mouse. I brought my glorious model o wireless to work and it freaks people out sometimes when they stop by my desk
    Usbc
    Decent battery life
Dongle jacks into a port as opposed to a cover that can easily break or be lost like the DAV2.
Mine arrives tomorrow. I hope the ergonomics fits me. I have large hands and so far the only mice that works for me are the Model O, the Model D, and the DAv2. Everything else gives me cramps, especially everything from Logitech.

    • @martinschultz5596
      @martinschultz5596 Год назад

The scroll wheel is really bad, sadly. It'll start to occasionally register a down scroll while scrolling up and vice versa. Mine does it, this guy's has done it (and maybe has started to do again), and there are a lot of people who've RMA'd one after the other, only to have the new one start doing it before long, too. Spraying contact cleaner often fixes it temporarily. Opening the mouse, disassembling the mouse wheel assembly and the encoder, and then carefully cleaning it with contact cleaner and lubing the encoder with a little silicone spray will probably fix it for longer, but I don't know if even that is permanent.
I like the shape and low weight of the mouse a lot (I've got the wired one), but this is a really annoying thing to be dealing with. And this has been a thing in Roccat mice for a long, long time. They just don't care to fix it. If I had known about this before buying, I would have definitely tried to find other options. Just saying in case someone looking to buy a mouse happens to see this comment. The mouse wheel sucks.

Kone pro is great, but have issue with poling rate only 1000khz is consistant. Air has more issues" wireless option can be intefiered by software and even RGB on mouse. Aimo rgb option messing with poling rate, other rgb option does to but with less impact. Optimal is just turn off rgb interelt if you using it wirelessly. Software like icue can mess eith mouse( it did couse my mouse shutering on moving in fast paste games), so had to turn that off. Swarm itself couse some lag on pc, so most optimal way to use it on wireless is turn off rgb, after tuning your dpi, poling and etc turn off swarm and other software witch can have option to config mouse setings. On stat's mouse is great and performance is on top level if you do this steps, but on other side if you buy 130Eu worth mouse you espect to use it like normal mice and not do your own researth why stuff act like this and do fix that sacrifise build in feutures witch you payed for. If it would just work i would give it 10/10, but I would recomend pick kone pro and just keep it at 1000hz and keep rgb feuture or look for difrent mice entirely. Im kinda tweaking stuff guy and I most consurned about performance only so for me its not that bad. But for regular hard no, or pick wired version

Doesn't really have to do with the mice, but I thought of it while watching. Noone had made a battery swappable mouse with reusable/ rechargeable batteries unless you use rechargeable regular 2x/3xA batteries. I am thinking of something to be similar to the Arctis pros. I know they have power play type things, but that is inhibitivly expensive at over $100 usually. Being able to change and charge batteries would keep waste down and allow for you to always be charged with that spare. I think it would be a cool thing for mice.

Hi Techne, how is a comparision between a GPW and the new Kone Pro? How are the switches? Test older Roccat optical switches, was completly mess. How is the size, cause im using the GPW for at least since last years and no mouse was ever able to beat it. But a tiny bit bigger mouse would be fine.

Rocket, you only consider pronounce it rowcat if it's spelled rocat. Frankly current wireless mouse connection technology could be easily interrupted, it really helps if you get a dongle to place the signal around your mouse as close as possible.
