    Years ago my doctor prescribed me fenofibrate to lower triglycerides, which were extremely high due to daily drinking. She would not allow the generic brand and I couldn't afford it. She also prescribed fish oil pills which I wouldn't take as I was vegan then, and some statin drug as well. I also refuse to take statins. So I got flaxseed oil pills and took them instead. Next visit, the tests showed great improvement. She was surprised at how good the prescriptions were working. I still drank through all this, and it was the flaxseed pills that lowered it tremendously. If you take lots of flax it makes your skin oily, otherwise no side effects. So I recommend it for anyone wanting to clean out their arteries.

I mix the seeds in my cashew yogurt and sometimes I just take a tablespoon on the oil. I feel they work really well. My skin looks amazing and I’m going more regularly. The oil seems to be working on the numbness in my foot. I don't wholly agree on what this man says about the oil. Flaxseed oil has the highest ratio of omega 3 per milligram than anything.

    • @adamp9553
      @adamp9553 Год назад +2

      @@Noor-jw2tn flax has the ALA form of omega 3 as opposed to DHA or EPA, which does take longer to process to get all of the omega 3 benefits, _but_ ALA specifically is known to help mitochondrial repair with adequate D3, B12 and B6 levels, potentially healing nerve damage even without going through the process.

    We have been using flax for about 5 years now. We started with flax oil supplements and now we use milled flaxseed. I mix my ground flax with almond and or cashew milk and raisins. I use 1.5 to 2.0 tablespoons of flax meal, two ounces of plant based milk and 1+ ounces of raisins.
    Unopened bags of ground flaxseed go in the freezer while open bags go into the refrigerator. And though flaxseeds are highly sensitive you do not need to freeze your open bags. They last for a few months in the fridge and at least a year in the freezer. We've even left the bag out over night on the kitchen counter and never ran into any issue(s)...
    I suggest giving your bag a whiff/smell every now and then to see if it's started going rancid. I have never smelled rancid flaxseed/meal and we've gone through at least 50 one or two pound bags.
    The omega 3 to 6 ratio in flaxseeds is about 3.75 to 1. Threes to sixes. This is an awesome ratio although flax should be used to 'balance' your omegas somewhere in the 1-1 or maybe 2-1 ratio. Don't worry, you'll automatically be consuming more 6's in your daily diet, hence the balancing action of flaxseed.
    If you are a vegan, you need not worry about the conversion of ALA (

    I think organic flax seed fresh ground and used right then might be best choice... if people want use it for a recipe or if they want to try it for occasional medicinal use like constipation. But what about the cons of Flax seed?
    Former Professor now health educator Bart Kay puts both plant food, nuts, and the seeds of plants in the toxic category. According to Dr. Mercola PUFA has negative impacts to both thyroid and metabolic health. Flax and flax seed oils are PUFAs and they are highly susceptible to oxidation.
    After a month when I was using a little of flax daily my hair began to seriously fall out and my hypothyroid markers were worse. Flax oil and fresh ground flax seed only helped my constipation a little. Just trading one problem for others is not a good answer for me. Beside not being thyroid gland healthy. Fax seeds are also high in nickel and would not be good on anyone with a nickel sensitivity. Also, there are mixed opinions on phyto-estrogen effects of flax.
    Flax and flax seed oil may have some pluses but I believe if you want to eat optimally they should be avoided or used infrequently.

      Whole flax seed keeps in room temperature for quite some time.. at least several weeks and maybe several months. If you are going to store it several months I would store it cold just in case. Freezing will extend it a lot (many fold) more than a refrigerator.

    Won't the residues of fat left on the grinder go rancid as well? Btw, the real source of EPA and DHA is marine phytoplankton. That's where the fish get it from.

    Dr. Ekberg, thanks for this video. I have consumed flax for many years. I noticed way early on that whenever I consumed them whole and then use the toilet, it came out whole. Instead, I started grinding them say, 1/2-3/4 cup and immediately consumed them with sea salt and Olive Oil. (Nice fat bomb--LOL) I know you mentioned that you grind them up and freeze them in a ziploc bag. What I do is I buy them 1 or 2 kg whole and store them whole in a big glass mason jar in my pantry. The pantry is away from sunlight. Is this ok? Or would it be better to store them whole entirely in a freezer, and then take out of freezer only the amount I plan to consume? Thanks very much and keep the videos coming. You are so informative. Tack

    • @drekberg
      @drekberg  5 лет назад +1

      As long as the seeds are whole they keep very well even though they would keep even better in the freezer. So it depends on how often you buy and how big your freezer is. Var så god!

    I got so sick of eggs and meat on Atkins and the thought of doing a low carb diet again almost makes my stomach turn. I'm hoping the I.F. will work for me (I've been on it for 3 days and am now at 3/21 without a problem). I know this isn't what you recommend but I'm wondering if I can still eat the carbs I've been consuming (whole grains, sweet potatoes, fruit, etc.) and do okay. I've been making green juices that are mostly greens, celery, and cucumbers and some fruit to make it drinkable. I run the pulp through 3 times to get out as much as possible and have put it into my homemade whole wheat and rye breads. I make fruit smoothies with frozen fruit, ground flax seed, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, etc., etc., but I not very often. (Once a week or less.)
    There is so much conflicting advice out there and I don't know what to do. I figure I.F. is good because it's the most conservative (except for lots of meat and eggs). I don't have any problem with eating eggs and meat but I'm just so tired of them.

After a few days of one tbsp a day of the ground flaxseed they start to get back to normal and do all they could not do anymore. It almost seems like magic because it works so fast. When I use it I have small mains electricity driven "grinder" and grind it "on the spot" with other seeds (inc sunflower, pumpkin) and consume it immediately its ground. I shall continue to do that. For "oily fish" I eat sardines.

    The reason people didn't eat it is because they were aware of just how toxic it was, and is. It's a frankenfood and like all the magic plants NOBODY is dealing sensibly with the toxic effects it has:
    1) Incredibly reactive oils, which is toxic to all forms of cells it comes in contact with, but that does make it a great paint thinner (bugs won't eat it)
    2) Very very high cyanide generation, principally from amygdalin content.
    3) Toxic when heated which caused it to be banned in France (but because of PUFA breakdown carcinogens, not the cyanide)
    4) The flour is incredibly reactive, any store bought flour WILL be rancid.
    5) Traditionally used for embalming purposes, bugs still won't eat it after 1000's of years. Yes you ARE a bug.
    6 NO traditional culture has ever consumed them in any form or in any meaningful quantity, if any culture did they went extinct too fast for us to find them now.
    Finally find anyone that has eaten any form of flax for a few years and look at them. Ask them if they find their digestion is better than 5 years ago and you will find it to be the case for none but the zealots incapable of accurately assessing their health anymore.
