Awesome that you found a good dealer to service the C8. I have a 2019 C7 GS and one of my biggest issues is that there are no good dealers or mechanics in my area that inspire confidence, I can't even get an oil change without being nervous. It's one of the reasons why I won't consider moving to a C8 at this point, not interested in buying a car for 100K+ and if/when I need service, I get treated like I'm bringing in a Volt lol. Good video nonetheless!
I totally agree. It took a while to find this and I’m glad I did because just like you said these cars are nothing without a good place to get them maintained.
For track use 5W-50 may be warranted, otherwise I'm not fan of high viscosity (or ultra low viscosity) oils. Look at all the bearing issues BMW had with their high revving n/a V8 in the M3. Also, I only run Amsoil
Thank you for this video. I received a email from Onstar about getting an oil change after 1500 miles.. I was wondering why? But it makes sense of getting all the breakdown materials out of the system. Got a appointment with the dealership tomorrow!!! This was very helpful!!! Hope to see y’all in person someday
I had mine done on my C8 stingray and no issues at 5000 miles, then I kept getting a code trans axle system off! so they changed the oil and DCC filter again and no issues, and i got a new filter and it looked good!
Did you notice the updated trans case? It has a cast oil pan and the bolts are spaced more evenly that the older trans. After 7/23 I believe all C8s have this updated trans case including the ZO6.
Ive bought & owned more than a few new vehicles. Other than the Vette, I've changed all my stuff the majority of the time. Most recently (2021) I ordered a new Subaru Crosstrek Limited for vacation traveling & winter months. They provided me with FREE service for 3 yrs. Good video Justin. Changing fluids and filters more than the recommended intervals will never do anything but good. Glad you found a good Vette tech. The used the floor jack to make sure the lift arms didn't touch anything underneath. Perfectly safe to do. They did not adjust the transmission fluid because when you change the filter such a small amount comes out (1/32nd of a quart) it doesn't affect it enough to need adjusting. Eventually it will but we're talking many many filter changes. Also, the Z06 doesn't require the extra 2 quarts, it already comes with it from factory.
I owned 2021 2LT 6000 km Canada 🇨🇦 I asked my dealership 3 times for DCT oil transmission change and they always answer same : You need wait to reach 12.000 km.. So you lucky they accept for doing that
What is the technical information you have to recommend do this maintenance of oils change before the factory recommendation? I mean, what is your base to say it should be done before, you can't tell me just because. Is this s technical recommendation or just a feeling?
As stated in the video this is my opinion but based on cars in the past, the C7, GM recommended the first oil change be done at 500 miles due to break in material. Seems the same should be applied here. The transmission is the single most fragile component on this car so again, it seems to me doing filter changes more often could be beneficial since many that are familiar with this transmission state that the filter size is too small for the size of the transmission. At the end of the day it comes down to one thing. Engines/transmissions are expensive. Filters are cheap. It's easy/cheap insurance.
@@HorsePowerObsessed does one free one include both the oil change and the transmission filter change? I just bought a 24 Vette and literally didn’t even know till I saw your vid 😂

I’m going to do the changes in between GM recommended changes so no. It won’t void warranty as long as you also get them changed at the recommended intervals by GM.
Actually you loose about 5-6 oz per canister change - not much your correct- especially if you added the additional 2qts for tracking. But if not - it is a double check that the factory filled the transmission correctly- then replace the lost fluid at the dealership’s expense ( after all any Service is expensive enough- 😊
I would highly recommend doing this before GM says to do it! What do you guys think? 🤔

Ugh. Sucks for the damaged Z06.
Agreed but he's using it to the fullest extent!
You said you bought three filters for 75 bucks, are you planning on changing them yourself won’t that void your warranty?
I’m going to do the changes in between GM recommended changes so no. It won’t void warranty as long as you also get them changed at the recommended intervals by GM.
Was this Cochran in Cranberry?
Indeed it was. If you go there let them know I sent you.
Oh and I just bought 10 quarts of M1 5w50 from Orileys. It came in like two days...lol
Nice! Lots of backordering out there so you got lucky.
DCT filter, engine oil and filter changed at 550, 2300 and 3900 miles by me so far on my Z06…..
Along with engine oil analysis every change and one transmission analysis as well.
That’s the way!!
Ouch!! White Vette is SMASHED!!
Mine 2000 miles, just got Lemond car approved, waiting on the replacement 😂
Ouch.
The Z06 doesn't need the extra 2 quarts. It comes from factory with that added already.
Hi Justin. Totally want to pick up those strut covers. Your HPO code for Paragon didn't work today.. Do you have a new code?
Thanks bud!
Working on a new code, stand by!
@@HorsePowerObsessed Fantastic. I can't wait to order those covers.
