Very interesting and yes, Blue Birds and Blue Jays also are very territorial. They do not like and chase other birds including the cardinals in my yard. When I have cat food outside for the outdoor cats, they even have chased them away to enjoy the food first, just saying. Keep up the good work.
Bluejays are larger songbirds and yes can be bullies. I'm not surprised they take on the cats for food. The Eastern bluebird actually often gets harassed by House Sparrows and House Wrens - both that also like cavity-style nest boxes. Thanks for watching!!
