I once was so oblivious that my friend crack my capital by jump driving into it. The best part is that my economy was fine so it took me 1hour to realise that my capital had change and that a planet is missing
Love stories like this. I had a friend park a whole cloaked armada over my capital, the whole game... just to make a point. Yet, to this day, I still forget to put down cloak detections and even normal listening posts. If we ever got into a serious game with each other, I would lose hard....
I wonder when Paradox will give us some way of system shielding from jumps. Imagine: gateways also making it impossible to jump into the system. On one hand: nice defence, on the other: if you loose the controll of it, enemy will abuse the gateway.

Could be a rare tech for a starbase building which makes it act as a jump magnet, forcing all jumps to nearby allied systems to be redirected to that starbase instead.

Then you can put gateways safely in adjacent systems with low risk of the enemy securing it with a single jump, etc... Imo the enemy should be warned in advance on their UI when they order the jump - if they have the intel. If several such "magnets" are in range, priority would go to closest. Might also have the effect of increasing the likelihood of a catapulted fleet appearing in such a system - but not too significantly, those catapults should never be predictable...
Or use Quantum Catapults defensively, which HARD COUNTER jump sniping. The fleet dispersal should be minimal, if felt at all when targeting your own space, and instead of a -50% malus to fire rate, you get a 33-50% BONUS to fire rate, tipping the scales wildly in your defensive favor. Also, no cooldown so you can use a jump drive to espcape or even push further, if you wanted to. If you have pulsars in your space, you should have that many catapults. Chain your catapult jumps together and in a matter of days you can send your ships safely from one side of your space to the other at practically zero risk of splitting them up.
THAT is true... there is actually a trick to lower randomness in Catapult Warp Times while ALSO lowering it as a whole completely simply keep your fleets either below 100 naval cap for absolute consistency and under 150 for "good enough" consistency both will have exponentially lower Catapult Warp times compared to when going above 150 why? i have no clue probably hard coded points where the maluses suddenly start hitting you like a truck tho the "have Neutron Stars/Pulsars possibly chained close enough AND in your control" is very much RNG, you may not even have a conveniently placed Neutron Star/Pulsar(s) in the first place
Nothing taught people the value of going where you want like playing with warp drives vs them using hyperlanes. It really, really taught lessons. Then you flip the script and inform them on why Hyperlanes have their own strengths. I get why they went away from multiple drives, but I think they should have just gone ahead and done a sequel at that point, it's a very fundimentally different game.
Gigastructures: maginot world + unyielding (iirc) = jump drives disabled for 2 systems connected to this maginot world star. Wish there was a vanilla version of thjs
the Ultimate Counter is just to never play Multpilayer as the AI is bad at this and if they actually DO a Jump Snipe, you can pause and think on how to stop it
@@lexalexa3604 I think the Fallen Empires are the only ones I've ever seen use their Jump Drives now that I think about it so the generic AI probably can use Jump Drives.... but they likely only use them if their fleet power is 400% or more over the target to compensate for the 50% lose of speed and weapons damage

I assume this only really works if you have small teritories? Since large teritories means that the enemy cannot just jump into your core lands without having penetrated deeply already, and if they do jump in thes will get demolished by your fleets since suddenly they only deal half as much damage

I knew that awakened empire was intentionally inconveniently placing their fleets in an attempt to exhaust my empire’s resources. The messed up part is that I actually won that game but didn’t get the achievement because I wasn’t online.
I love the gigastructures mod because it makes jump drives both far more terrifying around midgame if you arent prepared, and entirely useless just a bit later if youre a crackhead like me who drops enough maginots that every system you control is covered by anti-jump fields.

@@nihel3144 I asked which ingame mechanic gigastructures uses to block quantum catapult, sublight origins and jump drive. I don't recall gigastructures mod being able to block quantum catapult.

The amount of times the enemy breaks and runs in this game: Often I Jump right into the enemy fleet, forgetting honestly about power loss, and watch them break still. But hit against a 'no retreat' policy and that 50% penalty is felt, even if you have superior defenses.
Doing this with Gigastructural Engineering is so hilarious. Your enemy is across the galaxy thinking they're safe from you but then BAM! Fleet of attack moons all over their systems.

And then cloaking itself is kind of screwy with how detection goes across hyper Lanes. I just hope that we can do a trade blockade the old-fashioned way. With pirates! And Bender! If the enemy has jumpdrives then that means they're defenseless. Be the crab in the bucket. They take out your industry? Charge in and destroy theirs. Teach them the consequences for being cheeky.
i cant get the jump exploit to work (12:45) , it just doesnt do anything or deselects the jump. pretty unlikely to be fixxed just before the video uploaded, but when i click on the fleet, shift + rightclick and send somewhere in my country and then shift + jump somewhere out of range, it deselects with rightclick and doesnt do anything with leftclick :/
Yeah pretty unlikely that PDX are going to "fix" a bug so that it works again. What part of that explanation sounded like it was the game behaving as intended?

"(...) pretty unlikely to be FIXXED JUST BEFORE THE VIDEO UPLOADED" implying that its a bug, that i cant get it to work, but i also dont think it was patched out before the video uploaded. as far as i know he didnt say in the video that its already patched, also the description says "(...) is Breaking The Stellaris Meta (...)" implying its currently ingame, so i dont really know what you got wrong here.
the jump exploit works as long as you are technically IN range of a system when you made the order (unless you're misunderstanding something here, this Exploit has been here for forever and yes, has not been fixed still) EX: you ORDER a fleet to move across the galaxy and THEN immediately hit SHIFT + right click a system nearby, BOOM, suddenly you can completely bypass Jump Range limitations

I honestly think they'd do better if they play Sins of a solar empire 2 (would run better too) but they insist and then get lost when I pull out economy, ethic, ship design breakdowns for them. So I just make the rules to A keep me in check for them and B give them some safeguards.

Defense platforms wreck fleets still feeling the effects of Jumping, you should have the max number of them at every station you own.

i think partly. if you are small enough, your fleets can react quick enough/you can have fleets near enough to stop it.

i cant get the jump exploit to work (12:45) , it just doesnt do anything or deselects the jump. pretty unlikely to be fixxed just before the video uploaded, but when i click on the fleet, shift + rightclick and send somewhere in my country and then shift + jump somewhere out of range, it deselects with rightclick and doesnt do anything with leftclick :/
Yeah pretty unlikely that PDX are going to "fix" a bug so that it works again. What part of that explanation sounded like it was the game behaving as intended?

"(...) pretty unlikely to be FIXXED JUST BEFORE THE VIDEO UPLOADED" implying that its a bug, that i cant get it to work, but i also dont think it was patched out before the video uploaded. as far as i know he didnt say in the video that its already patched, also the description says "(...) is Breaking The Stellaris Meta (...)" implying its currently ingame, so i dont really know what you got wrong here.
the jump exploit works as long as you are technically IN range of a system when you made the order (unless you're misunderstanding something here, this Exploit has been here for forever and yes, has not been fixed still)
EX: you ORDER a fleet to move across the galaxy and THEN immediately hit SHIFT + right click a system nearby, BOOM, suddenly you can completely bypass Jump Range limitations
@@Strategiser2 ohhh, thank you! i completly misunderstood, i thought it broke the jump range in a way where you just jump anywhere, not just in the area from where the orders orginiated from. kinda like a precise quantom catapult instead of a technicly Hit and run tool. @@trubacjakub3179 oh I do play MP but everyone in my lobby sucks at war compared to me and branded me the group crisis cause every game I'm literally the crisis on the map. I honestly think they'd do better if they play Sins of a solar empire 2 (would run better too) but they insist and then get lost when I pull out economy, ethic, ship design breakdowns for them. So I just make the rules to A keep me in check for them and B give them some safeguards.
