  • I returned to the Cambrian Mountains to explore Pumlumon and the surrounding areas. I hiked along some of the Pumlumon Fawr's Five Trails, spent a night camped on the summit of Pumlumon Fach, and visited the source of the Severn. On my second day, I hiked some more of the trails until I reached The Wye Valley Walk, where I spent the night camped next to a river.
    Thanks for stopping by,
    Ryan.

Glad to see Toby make it on this one, he should be on Britains got talent, walking through the lift up sty easy part, leaping big puddle, fell in, just carried on, over the high walk and through the metal grid, and you could be paid for guide on these walks, now you have walked the walk, have fun always enjoyable to watch

Camped there quite a few times with Dai kelly camp n wild with the dragon and Darren. It is indeed, a spectacular spot, and the glacial llyn is beautiful too, not too many people there either; although, when we first camped there.. 20-odd off road motorbikers were there as it's a huge off road scramble area.

Lol... I had completely forgotten about that crossing the river clip you showed at the beginning - got so engrossed in the scenery... laughed my head off! Luckily it was on your way back. Those midgies at the end.. arrrgh. Beautiful scenery and thoroughly enjoyed the video. I walked Pumlumon from the Farmers CP at Eisteddfa Curig (£5 a day).. walked up the George Borrow Trail (I know it starts in a different place but can be accessed from the cp and then came back down the Bonnington Trail after going to see the Wye Valley Soure - its disappointing Ryan.. not marked unless I missed it - I scrambled down looking for a marker or something but not visible to me? Seeing this video I am even more keen to get up there and explore once I am able. atb Al

Thanks, Alan. I'm glad I didn't scramble down trying to find it then; I'll give it another bash on my next visit. I hope you'll be able to get back out and about soon so you can get up there. ATB, Ryan.

We have something in common Alan - we've both enjoyed Pumlumon. But I have to disagree - the beauty of the Wye source is that it is so unassuming - it's merely seepage and no bigger than a bowler hat as Robert Gibbings said. It's not like the Severn source with signs and walkways.

Nice video, mate, as always. I am just back from hiking and seakayaking at the Pembrokeshire coast and the Preseli Hills exploring the bluestone quarries.

Thank you, Eileen, it's nice to hear you're enjoying the videos. We had a great time on this camp. The soundtrack is a track off RUclips Studio, called Woodshedder by Quincas Moreira (link below). ATB, Ryan.

Can I ask you. Which are the best maps to use for paths and tracks avoiding roads. Iam just starting out after watching you. I don't have a clue where to start. Cheers. Colin

I'll be honest, Colin, I've been using Ordnance Survey Maps all of my life so I can't comment on any of the other apps out there. Personally, I think Ordnance Survey is the best map you could use. You can either buy a paper map for the area you're walking in, or download the OS maps app. It's an annual subscription of £36.99 and covers the whole of the UK. You can plot your routes on there and download them before heading out. I don't know if you've done map reading before, but it will be necessary if you're using OS maps. You could maybe look at a map reading course or there's a lot of tutorials on RUclips that you could watch. You could download the OS app and use the free version to see how you get along with it before paying for a subscription. Hope this helps, mate.
