My husband and I met on a dating app and are celebrating 25 years in May. Blended family with 5 adult kids and a 9th grandchild due in July. My first blood grandchild. It’s a BOY! So, all 4 of my mom’s great grandchildren are boys.

I married my high school sweetheart 37 years ago. We were best friends because we enjoyed similar activities, and we were both committed to our faith. We were young and in love, but we were intentional about making it work. We went to premarital counseling, and we worked to do things that we knew would strengthen our bond. We waited 5 years before having kids, we moved away from family in order to get jobs that we enjoyed, and we had fun meeting new people and traveling.
Now we are empty-nesters, awaiting the birth of our first grandchild. We love spending time with our adult children, both of whom are happily married. Life isn't easy, but it's so much better going through it with your best friend! 😊

I met my wife at 20 at a part-time job. 40 years later, two married children and two grandchildren and I couldn't be happier. Our personalities compliment each other. Ying/Yang philosophy of our fit works for us, and we will be together forever. Social media, texting...plays no part in our marriage because we love the old school days of actually concentrating on family, friends and those you are with at the time. Plus we don't care about what others think or have. We're happy with what we have which is true success of big loving group of family and friends.

I have uninstalled my dating app. There's something very superficial about it. It's like a woman or a man has to market oneself to find love, and quite honestly, it's exhausting. It's always better for love to find you. Until then, evolving oneself into the person you are seeking is a great thing. So, fingers crossed there...

    • @Ela-cw7fi
      @Ela-cw7fi 8 месяцев назад

Start to Fast and Pray weekly --- and Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit, will reveal to you your next steps. DO NOT FOLLOW your heart - the bible says in Jeremiah 17:9-10 King James Version (KJV) The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
      What constitutes a biblical marriage:
      For the Men:
It is a promise to love his wife as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25)
It is a promise to live sacrificially for his wife (Eph. 5:25)
It is to lead his wife spiritually (Ephesians 5:26)
It is to leave his parents and cleave alone to his wife (Ephesians 5:31)
It is a promise of monogamy (I Corinthians 7, Hebrews 13:4)
      For the Woman:
It is a promise to joyfully submit to her husband (Ephesians 5:22)
It is a promise to respect her husband (Ephesians 5:31)
It is a promise of monogamy (I Corinthians 7, Hebrews 13:4)
Therefore, for a marriage to be a marriage in the eyes of God, a covenant must be part of the process.

Weve had a partner for every struggle life has thrown at us and grew together. Some said we were too young, but it was the best decision we ever made. Some say travel first, but the most beautiful view in the world would mean nothing to me if he wasnt by my side. Marriage is hard work but well worth it with the right person and a beautiful sacred gift. ❤

@melvennhatugueja we both started working at 16. By 16 my husband was doing homeschool, working full time as well as evenings with his parents. We saved as much as we could, thrifted things and saved them for our apt he got when he turned 18. The struggles brought us closer together. ❤ he learned a trade and I did a certificate program at a community College while working bc I graduated high school a yr early. We had no student loans. He worked and saved over a yr for my ring.

I think comparing with older couples is difficult because they didn’t have the main contributors to current issues with relationships = MOBILE PHONES. There are major communication issues today where we use the phones to communicate so no one talks anymore let alone face to face. Covid added to this too. Dating has become an unfortunate minefield where many are mistreating the system ie they join apps when they are unhealed, angry and perhaps sometimes still in relationships which creates further pain to those involved.
As one of the guys say ‘take this a flush it down the toilet’ re the phone.

    • @BrooklynBaby100

Im 31 and my fiancé is 32. We met almost 13 years ago and it's been bliss ever since. We own a home and have gone through some challenges in life for sure. We have been engaged for about 6 years now and both are in no rush to actually get married formally. We are both on the same page on everything important and our core values align and that is what I think is most important. We truly see eachother being together forever - one life time is not enough.

  • @hitishasharma6014
    @hitishasharma6014 8 месяцев назад +7

I think the advice about unrealistic expectations is good one. For some reason, in today’s day and age we put really high expectations on romantic relationships. Maybe the reason is that we’re lacking the ability to form intimate connections in all areas of life so we put immense pressure on this one area. Let your partner be a wonderful addition, a teammate but don’t expect them to be every single ideal imagined walking on earth. That’s too much pressure on anyone!
Basic criteria like loyalty , integrity, similar future vision and commitment to build with each other no matter what - this is a great launching pad.
I literally had an ex hate me because I didn’t understand his music.. but I was there supporting him anyway which wasn’t enough bc apparently “we weren’t similar enough”. All this BS complicates love. Let love be free and without irrelevant conditions.

answer the question how are you....and listen to the answer....hand off phone.

Are you serious? Black men are not getting married and staying married. They are also abandoning women who have their children at a rate that makes heaven weep. Wake up!

On the issue of long marriage. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not, but all the couples in the video, especially the older ones, are very slim, if not thin.

There's actually some survivor bias in that. You don't see really old obese people. They tend to die earlier.

I think its difficult for single people to adjust to marriage because they stay single a lot longer now and are too set in their ways to make it work just an observation of some one who is married for 25 years

So sad for a change I thought this guy with this video might had a good intention for others but no no, on half way of video started advertising for some non sense jewelry company
1st of all STOP interviewing ppl married 50 years , after year 2000 nothing s normal
2- start talking to those who can’t figure it out
3- Long marriage / partnership does not mean happiness
    4- stop advertising

I love these interviews but the message about only getting married once is a bit weird. Divorce can be the right thing in so many cases, and due to completely unforeseen events.
