    Got the chance to use the new Rogue Stainless Steel Squat bar the other day while traveling and fell in love. I was hoping to hold off on buying any new gear until we moved into our new house, but I came across a deal I couldn't pass up.

      Rogue bar has the better knurl, finish (Stainless) and better build and is only about $50 more expensive.The only thing the StrengthShop bar has going for it over the Rogue is an extra set of knurl marks to denote where a normal bars knurl would be.

    Thanks for the video Brandon. Hope to eventually see another video on this squat bar once you’ve used it more. I’m interested to hear your thoughts comparing it to rogue power bar and if us regular guys will see much benefit. Like you a lot of us guys don’t need this barbell for the extra collar width. Personally I’m not even overloading my rogue Ohio power bar with bumper plates yet. Speaking of specialty squat bars, there’s lots of great information and reviews on the more common elite and rogue yoke squat bars, but any thoughts on the Kabuki transformer bar/ Elite FTS Rackable cambered Spider bar or regular rackable cambered squat bar. The road of specialty squat bars just keeps on going, gotta collect em all. There’s always just one more bar or piece of equipment I need to add.

    How does this stack up to the StrongArm Squat Bar?

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 года назад

      They're both good. The Rogue has a superior build, finish, and has a full knurl (Strongarm is more like the Texas bar). Strongarm's knurl is more sharp vs Rogue (grippy) so depends on your preference. Strongarm also upped the price of their bar to $300 (from $250) so while still a good deal, not as much as before.

    • @danntor
      @danntor 4 года назад +2

      A real common combo is to have a weightlifting bar and a power bar. Both act very differently when under load and have characteristics which make them desirable for each of their intended lifts.
      If you competed in a fed that used a deadlift bar, owning your own just for that lift would be very beneficial as that bar acts very differently to your standard power bar.
      Many more bar types to own but those are some examples to explain the need/want(in my case all my bars were mainly a want) for several different barbells.

    • @Xplora213
      @Xplora213 4 года назад +2

      Cheetos405 each bar is different. You will notice the difference as you get better and better with the lifts. Deadlift bars are different to power bars are different to squat bars are different to Olympic weightlifting bars. And this gets even harder with women’s and junior’s bars. You might not feel it at 225lbs or even 315 but you can reasonably expect to hit 405 during a lifetime of lifting.
      You also might be happy with just a weightlifting bar for everything.

      Cheetos405 a deadlift bar is a great idea if you do strongman or if you focus on deadlifts. I use specialty bars for squatting most of the time.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 года назад +2

      I'll use a simple analogy with cars. You can get ones that are good on gas mileage, ones built for speed, ones built for towing, etc... they all do the same general thing (transportation), but they're built for different tasks. Same with barbells.

    Great review as always Brandon. In this review, you mention the Kabuki Strength Squat Bar and the fact that Kabuki Strength bars are coated/treated and therefore won't compare to the feel of a stainless steel or bare steel bar. I was slightly confused because in your review of the Kabuki New Gen Power Bar you mention that "the knurl has reset your definition of what you consider to be good knurling," and their power bars have the same coating/finishes as their squat bars.

    • @BasementBrandon
      @BasementBrandon  4 года назад

      At the time of making that video I didn't own any bare steel or stainless bars. The Kabuki bar still has great knurl, but is more prone to oxidation/rust.
