Your channel really helped me decide how I wanted to rebuild my home gym. Several years ago, I bought the absolute cheapest setup and after hitting the weights twice a week through a freakin' cold winter, I decided I've earned the upgrade. Thank you for all your.videos, but also for being the only review of the Hybrid bar that I could find, which I also bought, along with $4K in additional Rogue gear, all using your affiliate link. Keep up the fine work my friend!
It's a great bar! Still hoping they bring the features over to the Ohio Power. Thanks for the support and happy I was helpful! Hope you love the upgrade.
Thanks for the review Gluck! This is the most exciting bar I’ve seen come out in a while. Would already be in the gym except for those damn black sleeves
Another great review. I am certainly going to have to think about what my next bar is going to be. I was kind of leaning towards REP’s new Colorado bars once they get released, but I really like this bar after seeing your review. Thanks so much for all the hard work you put in for your peeps. V/R Shane
I'm may get the Colorado but it's a multi purpose bar. It looked nice when we saw it at the the Arnold but I'd out it up against the Ohio Bar rather than a power bar since they match up (specs, build, etc). You're welcome. Thanks for the nice comment.
Gluck, why is it called the Hybrid bar? I thought Hybrid meant u could use it for powerlifting lifting and oly lifting/cross fit lifting. Without Rogue including the 2nd set of score rings on the shaft they don't intend it for oly lifts. Great In depth review The bar looks sharp, it seems Rogue should've just named it as their newest power bar. I'm not understanding the name Hybrid Take Care In Depth review as always
I'd be interested in seeing that sleeve play in person... My ivanko and eleiko bars each have tighter sleeve tolerances/play than all my other rogue bars (Ohio bar, Ohio deadlift, rogue beater bar (RIP), woman's WL bar, CB70)
My wife and I just bought a house. Moving out of our 670sqft apt into a house with a 2 car garage. Now, I can’t drive bc I’m legally blind, so what is that second car space for? Home gym! Gonna be going through the Gluck back log /affiliate links to design everything👍
@GlucksGym since you like to review Canadian companies bar/equipment, I would be curious to see how the Gorilla fitness Ceros powerbar stacks up to Rogue, Texas, and others
Couple thoughts. (1) I found the proprietary black matte sleeves to be annoying as hell. I'll give them credit on durability. Basically, a black SS in my view. Exceptionally durable. That's good; however, the the production process makes the sleeves have more friction and essentially makes it "feel" like the sleeves are larger in diameter. With quality plates, I found the extremely tight feel to be a bridge too far for me. (2) I'm glad to hear Rogue is improving their BB quality. The Rogue hype and marketing efforts have paid off because many people think their BBs are top of the line. I drank the KoolAid. I've owned and/or used 20+ Rogue BBs. You want real top of the line quality in a Rogue price point, go to American Barbell. Rogue isn't in the same zip code.
That is A cool new bar. I really enjoy my Ohio power bar. I think the 28.5mm shaft would be nice for DL grip. Great video. And very impressive bar collection. I wish I had that collection!
Thanks for the review. If I want my first power bar to replace the cheap 28mm bats of my commercial gym, should I go OPB 20kg Stainless Steel or will this Hybrid Bar do the job ?
before lifting and no issues about how sharp it is but apart from sharpeness , overall use for lifting (bench/squat/shoulder press/rows) will this work? I am looking to buy one Rogue bar for my home gym which can be used for all and i see in Facebook marketplace now for 250$ a good deal as its like brand new. Can you please give me your suggestion
I was cautious watching these videos, but they've become a reinforcement and sometimes a better source of information than other channels that focus on home gyms. Either way, I appreciate the wealth of information provided in these videos. Plus, they lean into intimate detail on construction of the focus product. Most channels don't do that that. All said, you give so much detail and have helped in building my first home gym. I love your guys videos!!
Juat looking for a 2nd bar. I have a rogue opb stainless steel with black shafts. Would u go for this one or the colorado bar? Or im tempted to wait for the black diamond rep bar, bc i dont like aggressive mountain knurl (yes, i admitted aggressive knurl hurts my sensitive hands/skin)
Our Rep Double Black video comes out Thursday. That may help you decide as I compare the knurls you just mentioned. The Hybrid and DBD are aggressive compared to the OPB. The Colorado we also have and will review. That is a general purpose bar with a mild knurl.
@@GlucksGym I'm looking for something to use for T Bar rows, anything else you'd recommend? I was thinking the Pritchett Pad would be great to use a long with a landmine/barbell.
That is still WAY louder and WAY sloppier than my American Barbell stainless precision bar. I'd suggest those looking for something quiet to look at AB.
If you want the 28.5 diameter vs 29, if you want the more aggressiv knurl (and don't like the Aggro 2x branding), or if you want the better quality. But, if you want the finish options you're not getting them here yet.
Thanks for picking this bar up, was very curious about it! My only complaint with this bar is at 28.5mm it isn't a Power Bar which would be 29mm only. I know TPBs are 28.5mm, but the market has shifted to 29mm. Still hoping TPBs and Rogue release this bar at 29mm...
I may be wrong as maybe the IPF updated the specs but technically aren't they allowed to be between 28-29mm for competition? Definitely still hoping the sleeve construction makes it over to the Aggro and OPB, no reason for them not to.
@@gx3305 Yeahhhhhh, I am happy with boneyard fully stainless OPB. Sure, some federations allow 28.5mm, but for this guy who doesn't plan on competing, I don't see me ever looking to use a 28.5 on my wall if I have multiple 29mm. I do expect them to use this technology to upgrade their 29mm OPB in the future...then I may jump on it.
@@GlucksGym You are probably right, but it is more about feeling than federations. I like the feel of a 29mm power bar. The vagueness in their size is a little bit of false advertising: TPB, EliteFts, Columbia bar, this Hybrid bar...you gotta look at the fine details to know what you are getting instead of Power Bar is always 29mm. Great review sir!
Haha I've made a similar joke a few times so I gotta switch it up from time to time. Plus with like 6 more barbels to review I'm going to have to great creative because it's hard to keep it interesting.
I gotta take a look at that! Rogue reached out after this vid and that's some of the feedback I gave. Would be killer if they took that and ran with it!
@@GlucksGym The problem I have is that I live in a remote location with no chance to try before buying. Have had a Rogue B&R 2.0 for 3 years but have reached the limit of grip without chaulk or straps (don't want to use either) on deadlifts. Birthday coming up.. about ready to pull the trigger on a full ss OPB, but wondering if I should hold out for Rogue to make the updates to the AGGRO bars, or go with the new update OPB. Is the 2X knurl necessary??? Help! Or, is the std SS OPB sufficient???? Prefer the clean look of the std SS OPB to the AGGRO at least.... but function is king!
@@GlucksGym Yeah I know, it's infuriating. If they can afford to improve their manufacturing process to make their sleeves quieter they can afford more passes at the lathe.
totally agree, hate the ribbed crap. And that's relatively new idea, cuz it never used to be like that. Everything was smooth even cheapie bars. Talk about a solution to a problem nobody ever had. "Ribbed for your pleasure"

It was so immersive

Would be nice to see you compare this with an American Barbell bar, as those are known for tight tolerances and excellent construction.
Great review! Sounds like it's moving closer to the sound level of the American Barbell bars, which set the standard.
I was hoping you'd review this bar! Thanks man, your content really helps 👍

To test the spin, not necessary on a power bar, but with OWL bar lock the sleeves down and spin the shaft on the sleeve- better test!
To be fair almost anything is better than my test 😂
