Really great job! I recently bought a Titan Performance Series Olympic barbell to be used as a beater bar for my land mine. The cheap chrome coating looks pretty tacky (especially compared to my SS Rogue and REP bars…) and I was annoyed to find a little rust on one of the bearings (didn’t even take them apart). That said, after using some 3-in-1 oil to get the sleeves to spin smoother, I have to say, for what I paid ($80!?!) it gets the job done. The tolerances aren’t great and I’m a little worried about the coating chipping in the long run, but when I’m too lazy to move the better bars from inside of my rack, I’ve used the Titan for my incline/overhead presses and it’s been great!
That is a great bar break down. Your Bar collection is getting impressive. 100% agree on bare steel as best bar coat. Don’t own a stainless steel bar but I am sure it is also great.
I have two bars, both with plain steel shafts. No rust at all after more than two years, but I run a humidifier in my basement during summer months, and oil-wipe them about twice a year.
Great list. I am a huge fan of the REP Double Black Diamond bar for my power lifting needs. Thanks so much for all the time and effort you put into deriving such great information.
Excellent video! I especially like seeing how the sleeves are constructed and would like to see that on all bar reviews but very few people do that. I bought a Titan Blues City Power Bar a couple years ago and was disappointed to find out the outer bushings were steel instead of bronze as they had listed in the specs. So thank you for showing us the sleeve construction.
Very informative video -- thanks for the great content. If possible, would like to see similar guides for specialty barbells such as safety squat bars or open trap bars.

Thanks. Technically it's just the Colorado that's built like that. The DBD is more traditional snap ring and the Sabre a little more minimalist in the sleeve.
I'll give you a recommendation. Rogue makes an olympic weightlifting training bar in the price range of the Ohio bar. It has bushings, is cerecoat, and affordable. I bought these for my gym and they have become some of the more popular peices of equipment.😊
I bought a fringesport midas bar based on your earlier videos (dunno if you ever got "credit" for it). I love this bar. It still looks new 6 months on. and since fringesport makes the best bumpers.......made for a nice custom package deal.
Comprehensive as always mate. Awesome info. What about kabuki with their newly reissued nickel coating? I see it’s horrifically inconsistent which was their issue previously. I’m also now not happy until you cut the products in half 😅
I wanted to cut a few sleeves but my wife thought it was too expensive after I got carried away with the bumpers 😂 You hit the nail on the head with Kabuki. Still dealing with consistency issues which is a tough pill to swallow at those prices.
@@GlucksGym I didn't mean it to sound so critical, though I recognize that it did. I was just a little bummed because I bought a bar during BF and would have loved to throw something your way for all of your hard work (even if you do mispronounce words "Titan has two Ts"🤣).
I know you like your adjustable benches, have you ever tested a Body Solid? I just picked one up yesterday and it is built incredibly well. Super heavy duty, everything welded, heavy duty joints, and a very durable looking gray paint.
My power rack is by Body Solid. 11 gauge, 3”x3”. Does the job, can’t beat the price. The 3” hole spacing requires a few workarounds. The 1&3/8” holes may seem weird BUT it’s very easy to make my own attachments using 1” black iron plumbing parts from the local hardware store (1” internal diameter plumbing is just under 1&3/8” external diameter, fits perfectly).
For some reason I've never been able to determine, YT fitness reviewers tend to avoid Body Solid like the plague. My guess is this is probably because there is an unstated perception that the brand isn't hardcore enough or it's neither elite level nor bargain basement. It's really too bad (I've no interest in Body Solid, just own some of their stuff) because like you I've found their pieces to be solid, no pun intended. I wish one of these guys would put some time in on Body Solid, Powertec and some of the 'midlevel' brands. Not everyone wants Rogue or Rep, nor do they need it-I know I don't.
I came for the chopped plates but I like the corny jokes and breakdown of everything especially just getting more into the higher end of stuff than simple casual grab whatever is cheap. I didn't even know all the smaller differences between bars lol
Right now I’m using a barbell I got from fb marketplace that has no brand on it and a healthy amount of rust. Will getting a nicer barbell with good “spin” and good knurling increase the amount of weight I can press? Or help get another rep? These are the only things that would make me want to push for getting a better barbell.
A good barbell will most definitely help you lift more and get more reps. As someone who has used the best of the best Ivanko barbells for benching… and the cheapest… there is a big difference in how your wrists will feel while benching.
I'm not in the market for another bar yet, but when I am I'll be back here. I was brand new to anything barbell and I ended up buying American Barbell's California bar. It's really nice, but I know eventually I'll be needing a power bar with more grip as my partner and I go up in weight.
Every time I'm right at the point of ordering a higher quality bar, I get bogged down in coatings, etc, and then ask myself what's missing with the bar I have? I'm mostly powerlifting, so an obvious answer would be center knurling. However, I am not having any issues with the bar slipping down my back, so why shell out $300 for another bar, other than I want one :). I also have a fishing addiction I have to feed.
Not sure if you tried them yet but sportkraft is just pulling away in strength and quality for powerlifting specific barbells. I bench on the f8 bench bar and it has become the standard for the heaviest benches in multiply powerlifting. Their 35mm squat bar blows away a Texas squat bar. Good thing to look at spending some more money on 😏
Question: I currently have the rogue Ohio power bar and when I went to the rogue store I felt the hybrid power bar and really liked it. In your opinion would it be worth it to have both? I love the look and feel of the hybrid but it’s $400+ after tax and shipping.
If you're working out alone it's probably not worth it. There's nothing wrong with having multiple bars, so what makes you happy but unless your gym is pretty well set I'd probably put the money elsewhere.
For a general purpose CrossFit bar, I am torn between the Ohio and the Rep Colorado. I don’t want to spend the money for stainless but am worried about the other Ohio bar finishes wearing through compared to the hard chrome. Which would you recommend? If the Ohio, what finish?
My black zinc 20kg Ohio Power Bar is my go to for daily use. Rogue's Boneyard is always a good option. You just need to check it daily if you're looking for something as stuff disappears quickly. I snagged a full stainless 28mm bearing bar for $325 earlier this year and if there is a defect I can't find it.

For the Ohio bar, anyone have an opinion on whether to choose the chrome or propriety black matte sleeves? I like the look of the black, but wonder about durability and whether chrome would be better in the long run when dragging plates over and over on the sleeve.
Love the knurling on my Texas DL bar, so I got their 29mm Power bar, very different knurling, not sure if the coating was thicker on the power dulling it or not, but both have the same coating. Both were blemish bars I like how Texas does the larger knurls, unless its an oly bar then I like Rogues denser smaller knurls
What do you recommend for a shorter barbell? I have an Ohio Power Bar but would like a 2nd barbell to use outside the rack that's a bit shorter/easy to move around.
Should I get a cerakote barbell ( multi purpose 28.5mm) with hard chrome sleeves? Will it remains the same in the long run say 2 4 years( uhmw present on j cups of rack)
FYI my Rogue SS Black Friday Power bar came in just like that with all the shaving and blemishes on the bar. Of course they just told it was “normal for SS bars” and there is a disclaimer in their products description. Jokes on them because I have previously purchased 4 SS bars from them and 3 of my other buddies bought the Same Black Friday bars with no shaving etc. I got the pics to prove it
I like the DBD and have been using it a lot but they've had issues with the SS on their old PB and had to recall a few of these. It's just hard to recommend it over Rogue when they're built very similarly and with the track record. Great bar but yeah atm it's probably 4th in what I'm using most of my PBs.
Fantastic video, really learned a lot!! What would your recommendation be for a shaft and sleeve coating (or a specific bar) for a bodybuilder who doesn't care much about knurling, spin, whip, and honestly most factors besides wanting the bar not to break/bend or wear super fast and be very low-maintenance for under $200? I've been looking at the Signature Fitness 2-Inch Olympic Barbells in Cerakote and Chrome (Black, 1500lb capacity) which is on sale for only $115.99 right now (even seen it go lower the past few weeks) but it seems like both the shaft and sleeves are cerakote which I believe you said isn't ideal, at least for the sleeves. Is there another low-maintenance & durable coating besides cerakote I should be looking for on an under $200 bar? Really not worried if the knurling gets filled in, just need the bar to last.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it! I'd be worried about any bar that's claiming those specs and finishes at that price. If you think about what goes into producing a bar at that level. 190k tensile, 8 sets of needle bearings, Cerakote... Then the fact they're producing it and shipping it here from China and then to you for $128. Plus they're still making money... I avoid that type of stuff for good reason. Under $200 is hard to find a good bar. I'd probably go with Rep's Delta Basic. At least we know those specs are real which is why they're not as inflated as other cheap Amazon bars.
@@GlucksGymCould be a pretty interesting video to actually take a look at that signature fitness bar and see if any of the claims hold up and compare it to something like the Delta Basic for a budget showdown of sorts!
Yes but that's a broad range. The OB is very mild and the OPB much more aggressive. I'd just call the Chewy a more timid OPB. It's a well done knurl but not what I'd call aggressive.
I’ve purchased a used, old 28.5 TPB from someone off FB Marketplace and even that has less play then the bar you received! I’d return that if possible, think you just got a bad batch 😬
I’m getting one bar aswell. Ivanko’s best bar. Expensive… but probably craps on all these bars tbh. They are all I would use in my old gym until it closed down. I’ve been chasing the feeling of that bar ever since. 😂
Another really great video. It gets better and better with time! But I still love my Texas Power Bar... There is something really nice about it... like a old school feeling, the knurl, the "handmade" something to it... I don't know, even if the new rogue is technically better, if there is one bar I always go back it's this one. But I must admit I had to get use to it's... Shaft. Man if my word are taken out of context my wife will fill a divorce...!
The top weightlifting bar i have used is the Eleiko Competition Bar. I have 3 old school Eleiko training bars from early 2000s and they are amazing too. I have used a variety of weightlifting bars but none touch the Eleiko in my opinion. I have not tried the Alpine bar yet.
Anyone know why discontinued? Did they just miss the market on this one or was something wrong with the bar? I thought about it but with the discount it’s still close in price to a TPB which for the money I’d rather have than something being discontinued.
@@S.Critch I’m wondering if the market is reaching saturation. With REP having the Colorado bar as their 28.5mm all around bar and Rogue having the Ohio bar, Texas Barbell having theirs, etc. etc. I think Kabuki couldn’t meet the price point. $449 is your bare steel option? If people are gonna pay that kind of money then they want a hassle free product. I used code GGR5(?) and got it for $237.50 shipped. That’s a price point I am willing to pay for the little teeth grip that their bars offer. And the website didn’t charge for taxes so literally $237.50 was the price. Rogue adds tax and shipping.

We have their stainless DBD. It's already gone through a recall and while I have faith in Rep I'd take the Ohio Power over it.
Love the knurling on my Texas DL bar, so I got their 29mm Power bar, very different knurling, not sure if the coating was thicker on the power dulling it or not, but both have the same coating. Both were blemish bars
I like how Texas does the larger knurls, unless its an oly bar then I like Rogues denser smaller knurls
Question: why is there a second mark of 91 cm on the bar?
What about the Rogue Westside Power Bar???
What do you recommend for a shorter barbell?
I have an Ohio Power Bar but would like a 2nd barbell to use outside the rack that's a bit shorter/easy to move around.
Rogue had a stumpy bar that is shorter but knurling is the same.
Should I get a cerakote barbell ( multi purpose 28.5mm) with hard chrome sleeves? Will it remains the same in the long run say 2 4 years( uhmw present on j cups of rack)
It'll stay the same for many years. Those are both great finishes.
@@GlucksGym thanks👍
Don't forget boneyard bars. Best deal IMO
i need more bars in my life and benches
FYI my Rogue SS Black Friday Power bar came in just like that with all the shaving and blemishes on the bar. Of course they just told it was “normal for SS bars” and there is a disclaimer in their products description. Jokes on them because I have previously purchased 4 SS bars from them and 3 of my other buddies bought the Same Black Friday bars with no shaving etc. I got the pics to prove it
Good one! As a REP meat grinder I’m wondering where you’d put their DBD OR BD Power bar in your list? 4th or lower?
@@killerkhatiby009 I've got something like in mind. I just need to get rid of a few bars before I get more or Wynie will actually kill me.
Can you review kensui bars?
Does the Chewy bar knurling fall between Rogue OB SS and Rogue OPB SS?
Yes but that's a broad range. The OB is very mild and the OPB much more aggressive. I'd just call the Chewy a more timid OPB. It's a well done knurl but not what I'd call aggressive.
what about rep Dubble diamond stainless steel
Go to Adrian's Wall and pull off the one that has to best cat tongue feel!
I really wondered if I'd get some cat tongue comments on this one!
@@GlucksGym Well, at least it wasn't about how do you hang your rings..this time 🤣
I’ve purchased a used, old 28.5 TPB from someone off FB Marketplace and even that has less play then the bar you received! I’d return that if possible, think you just got a bad batch 😬
All 3 of my different models are like that
Sometimes I'm glad I only have 1 bar. Less choices, save time and space LOL.
I'll get to you someday 😂
I’m getting one bar aswell. Ivanko’s best bar. Expensive… but probably craps on all these bars tbh. They are all I would use in my old gym until it closed down. I’ve been chasing the feeling of that bar ever since. 😂
You convinced me to become a cross fitter 😅
Just doing my part to help make the world a healthier place 😂
If you could only have one - which would it be?
Probably a fully stainless Ohio Power bar. It's a great middle ground for heavy lifts but can function fairly well as a multi purpose bar.
Did I miss the deadlift bar section?
No. This focuses on standard Olympic barbells. I'll eventually do one just for DL bars (we have 4) but it was too much for 1 vid
Me buying barbell is a great example of spending the money I don’t have and buying stuffs I don’t need 😂
Basement Brandon catching strays lol.......
You're looking in great shape at the moment. Is buying dozens of barbells the secret?
Actually it took about 3 dozen to get like this.
Bars on bars 😊
The top weightlifting bar i have used is the Eleiko Competition Bar. I have 3 old school Eleiko training bars from early 2000s and they are amazing too. I have used a variety of weightlifting bars but none touch the Eleiko in my opinion. I have not tried the Alpine bar yet.
Wow it glows green like a light sabre buy that one.
I... Have... One... Bar...
For now 😈
How do you never talk about standard barbell equipment? 5' or 6' are very useful when gym space is a constrait
I prefer my shafts hard.
Did y’all see $200 off the bare steel Columbia bar by Kabuki Strength?
Yes. It's being discontinued
Sick GG Banner
Hhaha thanks. The logo came out WAY too big.

Cerberus have a 6ft Olympic, but it weighs 27+ kilos grams. That's economic!
7 foot 45 # 2inch spread Olympic bar.... What more does a " Real " lifter need ? CAP Barbell
How many bars do you need? 😂
Companies are raising prices because of bars shortage cause by you😂.
Idk the difference between weightlifting and powerlifting….
Yaheetech!
Best bar I own... why do I still own it...
Breaking it down. Too bad you lost that weightlifting bar. 😂
Oh we KNOW what this video is actually about...
Title is misleading. Barbell is plural
You're right, I'll change it
If Wynie were to bludgeon you to do death with one of those bars, has she picked one out already to do the deed?
I think she'll swing with whichever she can get her hands on first. If she has time to think about it she'll go with an aggressive knurl.
Why didn't you answer my question?
😂 I turned off notifications during the giveaways because we were getting over a thousand comments a day between all the socials. I'll go look.

You have too many of them 😬
I can’t believe you were recruited to compete for China. Wait, maybe that’s good news …
there's literally no difference between barbells for 99% of lifters
