Cerakote is a ceramic coating, It has been used on firearms for years. It makes the bar last lifetimes longer. Stainless steel eventually corrodes over years of use with the introduction of salt and moisture (sweat) The Cerakote stops the sweat penetrating to the stainless part of the bar. Its mostly presentation (It has better longevity over Zinc and Oxide coatings) It can be done in an unlimited amount of color unlike Zinc and Oxide. But it also has a protective aspect to it that outlasts Zinc, Oxide and adds life to a regular stainless bar.
Yes please do the Pyrros Bar Coop. It seems like a great Oly weightlifting bar, possibly end with a quick comparison to other higher end bars like Rogue’s own OWL stainless and Euro steel bar also the old standby standard Eliko OWL bar. btw, I have this New Chan bar & love it for a lot of outside the rack work, especially floor work. Cleans, Deadlifts especially feel better since you don’t have to wear long socks or sweatpants to protect your shins.
Bought one from the Boneyard a few years ago. They sent me one with black cerakote sleeves, but the shaft is all stainless steel. No logos. Doesn’t look as cool, but I still love it.
I needed a shorty bar and decided to splurge on the Rogue C-70S. It's rackable, same as a normal bar, just the loadable sleeves are shorter. I needed a shorty bar because I have a confined space to work with.
I actually like the coating coming off over time because it feels like I'm using it more. Each scratch feels like another notch on the wall of my journey.

I had the original non-stainless Chan bar with cerakote finish and I stumbled upon a Boneyard version of the Chan bar, in stainless but without coating, and replaced it with that. Talk about a world of difference!! My Ohio power bar has gotten a serious lack of love since the stainless bar arrived. If Rogue would drop the coating I think they would be close to the perfect do it all bar for most people, my opinion of course:)

For anyone wondering that logo is not a Samurai like I thought at first. Lol. It's a logo of a fireman with the helmet because Matt Chan used to be a Firefighter. Pretty cool. 😂
That is a nice looking bar and thanks for the heads up on the coated ends. I haven’t gotten a bar yet but I plan to I recently joined a CrossFit style gym after doing a few classes there and it seems like the place to be to me. Besides I have to do something to counter act the BBQ I’m making...
I check the boneyard everyday I just got an Ohio bar for $150 as my first barbell once my strength is on par to where I want , I’m just a beginner lifter , I will get my holy grail THE CHAN BAR!! I just wish they had the old option that used to be like $295 not $425 like it is now

However, I like to keep both squat and DL loaded in my gym, so I want a 2nd barbell (besides my C-70S, rack-able curl, and 22# baby Bella). Would you add a squat bar and use Chan for DLs, or vice versa? Any specific bar recommendations? Feels like it would be silly to have double Chan bars ;-) Thanks for the reviews!

Been really looking at this bar as it's one of the very few with a center knurl and that isn't a power bar and comes in a color so it can be quickly differentiated from my olympic weightlifting bar.
Coop, the elitefts Power bar bar doesn't seem to get much attention and is competitively priced imo, heard it has sharp knurl but not a single review to be found. Would love seeing a review on it

Well really it's set up for Cleans. Not DLs. I sold that bar and bought a DL bar & a power bar. Its like the old saying, Jack of All, Master of None

Completely agree. I have a Chan bar as well, and it really doesn’t suit my natural grip-width for deadlifts (on each hand, two fingers end up gripping the smooth part of the bar). I’m fairly tall (6ft 3in), but I have quite narrow hips. It’s such a pity, because the bar is otherwise fantastic... it just isn’t quite right for my body shape.
Ppl sleep on titan cause in the beginning they were terrible as far as shipping and messing up orders. I have a storage rack from them that’s great! And my buddy has a reverse hyper that’s solid. I think they’ve come a long way and have some quality products

I pulled the trigger because a client of mine has the Blues City power bar and I was highly impressed with it as it was a great mix of Ohio power bar and Texas power bar and expected the Maxxum to be a stainless steel version of that bar. The knurl is more passive (but won't know how well the actual grip is until deadlifts, but I have a dedicated deadlift bar so I have to plan to use it) than their Blues City power bar and the collars are smooth vs ribbed. It rolls well, but sounds like there is debris in the collar from manufacturing that is annoying, but might be an easy fix with some compressed air and 3 in 1 or just work itself out, but you prefer not to have to do that with a new product.
Pls Coop, make a review on Power Gear Barbell, Italian company that claim to have made an "Eleiko Power Bar" at human price I have one of their barbell and it is amazing.
Just FYI - for those who use a close grip for incline press and OHP, your fingers may be on the smooth, since the gnurling is pushed out. That said, this bar is looks awesome and is grippy.

So many barbell secs to consider. I just wanted a rust free metal stick with the bearings still intact. Now i have options.

I prefer a chrome sleeve over a Cerakote but I also think cerakote sleeves with a few scars and scratches look cool to, it gives it some character.
I have the Chan bar and I love it EXCEPT the knurling is too far apart when I bench press.

I ALMOST got it before, but I bench and overhead press with my finger right on the edge of the knurling on my OPB, so this wouldn't work too well.
Coop do you think the F scale matters for home gym owners? The Matt Chan bar is a F2 and the Ohio is F8-R.
I had 1 I sold it. The knurl is set too far out for DL. I was always gripping my fore finger and thumb on the smooth
