I bought the American Barbell Chewy powerbar on Black Friday and I must say it is absolutely the BEST bar I have ever held and used. The knurling is perfect for me. It feel fantastic. it’s ROUGH, DEEP, and feels soooooooo good to use. I have a Rogue stainless steel Olympic bar and the knurling is similar to a higher grit sandpaper and I also have a fringe sport Olympic bar that doesn’t feel very good to hold. It’s almost slippery. I highly suggest the chewy if you’re looking for an aggressive bar that will last a lifetime.
I'm piecing together a custom rack from the vesta 2 in 1 with pieces from rep, BoS, and fringe. I have to say, the packaging and details like welds and powder coat on rep are next level. You don't need to spend rep/rogue prices, but there is a reason why their prices are what they are.
Not American-made but if you’re just looking to get started, I’ve been pleased with my RitFit squat rack, power bar, and plates. (Everything else I’ve bought since has been Rouge in full disclosure!)
You never mention Hoist Fitness. Let’s see them in your reviews. I’ve had their functional trainer since 2007, zero issues and companies today are doing what they have been doing for years.
@ I’ve had their V4 since 2007. Not a single issue! Had their plate loaded leg press/hack squat. Now have their machine leg press. Good equipment, give them a try. It was the first equipment I got when building my home gym.
At this point if they’re priced better than the big competitors do tell Coop to review them because companies always jack their prices up after he does a review. 🤣
Would be nice to see a video targeting consumers in a smaller space such as an apartment, etc. I think that would do pretty well considering, from my experience, its harder to find equipment that would do well in smaller spaces.
I literally built my own home gym. Bought 2x3 .120 wall steel, drilled 5/8 west side spacing (almost 1000 holes 😖), welded it all together, used truck bed liner coating on it and made various attachments. Almost exact clone of rogue just deeper and wider. Materials only cost about $300
@@dinspow Y’all check out their show room lately? They have a the BDX3 power rack with cable stacks on the show floor. Sorta looks like a Fringe Sports Dane. I think the sales guy at Bonney Lake said it was 2,000. Not on the website yet. I think it’s great they’re trying to keep up with everyone.
I just bought a Bells of Steel Hydra rack for about $1300, it was one of the few 3"x3" racks that had an 84" height option, without spending $4k. Hoping it gets delivered soon, although this snow storm probably put a damper on the delivery date of Friday.
I think getting the X-3 or Titan series is a great buy. Same ecosystem as Rep who is pushing the envelope in innovation. Titan also continues to push the machine side of the gym with plate loaded and selecterized. Titan is doing great stuff and their quality seems to be consistently improving.
Just bought my X-3 with a rack-mounted cable tower in November and I am more than happy with it. Yes, there are many nice-to-haves I'd love for the same price point (which is already more than competitive), but this is something I can tell will last me a lifetime.
Hey Coop! As always, appreciate your very good reviews (I watch them all...) I spent a great deal of time comparing all in one trainers with Rogue and Rep as the standard bearers...I kept looking for a less expensive alternative though...what I spent my money on was the "New" Force USA C10 (with the sliding bench as well as jammer arms and dip bars) and I am extremely pleased with its functionality, stability, accessories, and value...You mention them in this review...they were a "grand slam" for me!
I really liked my Torque Fitness Half Rack. After getting rid of it to get a Rep Rack, I do have to say that the Torque one seemed a lot heavier and more substantial. I'm not sure why, though. I tried to look up what gauge of steel Torque uses and they say they use 11 gauge steel, which is the same as Rep's racks. Rep's uprights just felt light in comparison. It could have to do with the paint on the Torque rack which was almost like a Rhino lining. However, I didn't like their square hole design because that meant it wouldn't fit the world of 1" round hole attachments.
I don't know if you've already covered this, but maybe a video on home gym accessories that are compatible with Rogue/Rep/Other products. Personally, I like having a sturdy Rogue rack, but its frustrating when some of the attachments are twice the price of other brands. Living in the UK is an extra complication 🤣
Yeah, I don’t think the Kabuki power bar exist anymore and the company may not either at this point, but yeah, I think that bar is definitely gone or discontinued
That Blazzed Plus All-in-One Machine is originally from jacked up fitness! They copy and paste led that thing. And from the looks lower quality on parts and missing about 5 things on there. 9:26
Tag fitness also makes good hex dumbbells that have straight handles and good knurling. As others mentioned, hoist is also great. I’ve had their v4 and no issues. The ergonomics on it and number of exercises you can do are fantastic
I feel like you have talked about all of those companies and products before. It would be great if you would cover smaller companies and unique products.
I'm sad American Barbell got rid of the Mammoth power bar. It had the perfect combination of cerakote shaft, hard chrome sleeves, massive tensile strength, middle mountain knurling. Your force was translating directly to those plates. Have for about 6 years now, looks brand new if you wipe down the dust and smudges. It's definitely something you can pass down to your children and your children's children.
I think some of the most innovative all in ones at the moment are coming out of GET RX'd. The new Tornado arm racks look amazing. You can even use the weight stacks for weight on the one with the Smith machine. Heck you could probably even use the stack to counter weight the 48lb Smith machine bar.
SMAI, Giant, Bolt are all decent and competitive- SmAI and Bolt have better smith attachments than bells and both will work on other brands . i like the upright that SMAI has that fits between 2 crossmembers so that you can just add it to a 4 post rack
Xmaster and Ironbull. Ironbull in particular have cerakote dumbbells that you can fully customize. Not sure if I'd buy them myself, but they look neat.
Hey Coop, I'm just wondering how come you never mention the custom rack companies like Elite FTS, Sorinex, Stray Dog, or Arsenel? Just wondering if you'll ever do a rack review of those types of custom order type racks. Love your videos. Keep up the great work.
I have a REP Adonis and REP open trap bar, love them both along with some other REP equipment. Looking to add another bench, I saw that Body Solid has a bench with a cable attachment and cam underneath so that you can do leg extension/curls with it. Would like something like this to take advantage of the Adonis weight stack, but not really a fan of Body Solid. Are there any other companies doing this yet? Or planning to release something similar??
Any plans for Europe-focused content? A lot of European viewers want to start home gyms, but there’s barely any reviews for equipment like wall-mounted cable machines or Smith machines. Brands like Atletica, Kingbox, and Again Faster deserve more attention, while ATX and Rep Fitness are better known. I heard Bells of Steel is coming to Europe, but until then, do you recommend any brands with similar quality and price? Thanks Coop
I would love to see a review of the Major Fitness Drone 1 power cage. I can only find it on Amazon and seems like potentially a pretty decent budget power rack/functional trainer combo for those of us trying to get the basics as cheap as possible
This review feels kinda half assed you forgot so many brands. What about Get RX or Vulcan Strength? They also have benches that compare and comparable to Rep from the same factory. A lot of points were missed and felt sped along.
@ exactly man I swear he’s jus getting paid by these companies. He could have easily mentioned Crandall fitness very similar to rep or rogue, get rxd n Vulcan similar to rep, but no all the companies throwing him wheelbarrows of cash
Some Brands are hard to get or way too expensive in Europe. Could you please do a rudimentary overview of brands on the european market shipping from the EU. I'm thinking about "ATX" for example. Maybe you have some professional insight about similarities of certain products or alternatives. Keep up the good work. I like your video style very much. One thing: Background music makes it harder to follow as english is not my first language and the music is quite distracting.
Nice video, I’d like to see a review of Deltech Fitness’s DF930 which is a common Lat Pulldown machine with High and Low row but they’ve integrated a Pec Dec into it. If haven’t seen anyone do this before. More bang for the buck on an already good combo.
I don't understand why Vesta isn't being pushed out more. They have a 15% to 20% sale on racks and benches plus an additional 10% off using WELCOME10. Their half rack functional trainer with 200 lb weight stacks is under $2,200 after taxes. If was building from the ground up I'd go with them.
I just wish there was a company that sold or offered a stacked cable attachment that could fit within my Rogue RM4 that is similar to the Rep Athena system. The slinger was somewhat promising but not allowing you to fully adjust the cables on the upright was a total loss for Rogue. I like their FM conversion series but they are pricey and just a little too much for me. This is where I would like to see more companies fully capitalize on an open source system to create products where the OG manufacturer dropped the ball initially.
I’m considering the Force USA C10 and Rep Ares 2.0. I like the value with the C10 with everything you get, but my only concern is the 2x2 uprights and how that limits any attachments that could possibly use. Obviously the Ares 2.0 has the 3x3 uprights and the whole ecosystem, but is more expensive and does not have the smith machine integrated (although it sounds like the bells of steel smith machine would work on the area).
