I have been an Ullrich fan forever. and rooted for Armstrong as well. ALL RIDERS DOPE. Its all about the UCI wanting and when they wanna catch someone. T)
@@lordad So what?! You a have almost the entire sport doping and then one guy does it better than everyone else so you basically give him a career death penalty? If Lance Armstrong never doped, we wouldn't even know his name. They had to dope because the organizers of the sport knew it was happening and were allowing it to happen.
Watching it again: Nobody rode the first 2-3 kilometers in that climb faster as Armstrong in 2001. He was able to gain around 45 seconds in about 6 minutes against Ullrich, and after 12 minutes he was already almost 90 seconds ahead. But in the end he won the stage by 120 seconds or 2 minutes ahead. Means he was only able to take 30 seconds more of Ullrich in the final 25 minutes of the climb. This underlines the difference between Armstrong and Marco Pantani. Even if Pantani never rode the first 2-3 kilometers so fast as Armstrong, and never had that kind of explosive acceleration like Lance did especially in 2001, but Marco was always able to become faster and faster over a time of 30 minutes or so, why Lance was only able to ride very fast for about 10-15 minutes, and the final 20-30 minutes of a climb he rode still as fast as his rivals, but not faster anymore. He rode away very fast and took the most time in the first 2-4 kilometers of a climb, but in the final 5-10 km he wasnt able to take much more out of his opponents, but Marco was.
Average power developed by the riders according to Antoine Vayer on this climb: Lance Armstrong 450 watts (Mutant) Jan Ullrich: 423 watts (Suspect) Christophe Moreau: 417 watts (Suspect) Alexander Vinokurov: 335 watts (Human) Laurent Jalabert: 335 watts (Human)

Aside from the seven tours, the biggest differences Lance had were the commercial and political support that he got from various factions in the industry, and the lengths and sheer viciousness that he went to to keep his empire intact.
