    Great vid. My niece's 2023 has the P0126 code and it's only one year old with 15k miles. Read the code and saw it was insufficient coolant temp. I don't know what the number is on the valve, but the ZA is the fixed version, so I'm baffled as to why Mazda is installing the Z defective valve on a 2023 when they've known about this issue since at least 2020. When we were looking into new vehicles for my niece she ended up deciding on this CX-5 and the more I read about the issues the more I don't like it. To me it's insane to have that huge plastic computer controlled monstrosity in place of a mechanical $10 thermostat. The cheapest I can find that valve is $354, plus at least $120+ for labor, and whatever diagnosis costs. At least her car is under warranty and from what I'm reading this is covered, but anyone out of warranty that has to fix this at home is looking at $354+ and a couple hours of their time and the cost of new coolant. A simple mechanical thermostat would be 10 bucks and on most cars is not that difficult.

      @@Gapeach1970She took it to the dealer and they wanted to charge her $190 for diagnosis and said "maybe it was covered under warranty." She called me and told her to tell them she isn't paying a dime to diagnose a defective valve that shouldn't have been installed on the car since 2020. I told her to also tell them she wants a rental car to get to work the next day since that was in her dealer warranty. She called me back 10 minutes later and said they told her to drive it home and they would have it picked up from her work the next day and bring it back after repairing it. They did, and it was all covered under warranty. The invoice showed $705 total, lucky she didn't have to pay. So for anyone that gets the runaround from the dealer, stand your ground. Also I read at least one post where the dealer told an owner they couldn't cover it under warranty unless the engine light was on, even though there's a code history stored. My niece's light went off for a half a day then came back. So to be on the safe side I would make sure the light is on when you bring it in.

      Is this under the 3-year or powertrain warranty?

    • @badcrcz
      @badcrcz 2 месяца назад +1

      @@cashonly2539 From what I read on reddit it's covered under the powertrain warranty. I also read at least one person that said the dealer said it wasn't covered because the warranty said "thermostat" and the thermostat is only one component of the coolant control valve, and it's the housing that's the defect. Almost everyone got it covered unless you're out of warranty. I didn't read the actual warranty since it was covered without an issue.

      @@badcrcz This happened to my 2019 CX-5 about 6 months ago. After I cleared the code and it never came back on until recently. I cleared the code again and the CEL stays off so far. The car runs smooth otherwise. I recall both times the light came on when it just warmed up and I got up to highway speed. Thanks for the info. I won't clear the code if it happens again.

      I have a Mazda 6 2.5 still under extended warranty which Mazda UK are refusing to honour as there is no TSB recall in the UK.. They have quoted me £900.00 to replace this unit which has the same symptoms.
      Considering the part is about £180 and 1.5 hours work. (As on TSB).

Clear explanations, well framed video showing the subject matter, the engine bay was well lit and it was oddly refreshing to see a car engine that looks like it's actually been driven! Kudos to you, well done. Question 1) Would you recommend replacing the sensor mounted to the control valve with a new one at the same time as getting a new control valve? The 19mm one? Question 2) Have you found aftermarket parts (in general) to be of good quality, or is this a 'buy from the dealer' sort of part?

    Excellent video. Just had this done under warranty by Mazda Australia (Mawson Lakes SA) on my 2020 CX5 GT Diesel 60,000Km. Though spewing coolant out of the overflow tank onto top cover of the engine. The radiator was virtually empty there were no warning lights on the dash display. We were towing a small camper van out in the country when this became an issue and obviously no water in radiator would quickly lead to catastrophic engine failure. Can maybe a pressure sensor be incorporated somewhere for the engine management system or maybe just an independent warning light? Very interested to hear your views and suggestions

I've also seen these engines with over 200,000 miles still running strong and the customer has never done the service.

      @@CARDIAXPLAYS Hi again! Listen, I just went to the BG web site and saw what they said to do with their cleaner, specifically on Mazda 2.5 non-turbo engines (like mine). Let me cut and paste part of the instructions here: "The adaptor will administer 22 oz. (650 mL) of cleaner in 25-40 minutes depending on engine vacuum. When supply tool is empty, close ball valve and allow the engine to idle for 15 minutes."
      AND, when that finishes, they say to use a 2nd 22 oz. of cleaner, assumingly taking as much time as the first. Total time there would be: 25-40 mins. + 15 mins. of idle......then 25-40 mins. + 15 mins. of idle. That adds up to the engine running is over TWO HOURS (in the shop).
      So may I please ask - Do you guys go that nuts?

      @@stephenbay9564 Hey Stephen. I've actually never read the BG Instruction on the site. I've been doing it the way the previous tech taught me when I first started at mazda. I was taught to put both cans in the BG device that delivers the spray into the intake. then once the container is empty let it idle for 15 minutes, It honestly takes about 1 hour. But thanks for the info. Ill for sure relay this info to my service manager to see if we can change up the process. Your the man Stephen. Honestly my favorite subscriber so far.
