great tutorial, thanks
For sure! And thanks for the Subscribe!
That funnel part tho is were it helps bleed out the bubbles
thanks for the video how many miles did it fail?
Thanks! I believe this car was around 150k miles when I did the water pump.
@@CarsYouCanFix thank you for the feedback
You should bleed it with funnel still on. That is the purpose of that deep funnel to hold extra coolant for purpose of bleeding the system and preventing air back in the system.
The manufacturer bleeding procedure on this car is what I was showing here, with the cap on. There are probably a few ways to do the bleeding on this vehicle, but I wanted to follow Mazda procedure.
@@CarsYouCanFix 👍
I’m at such a loss with my car at the moment, lost heat and had a cold lower hose so I swapped the thermostat and it’s still not having heat after bleeding it as well. My expansion tanks level doesn’t move at all though
Possibly a clogged radiator?
@@CarsYouCanFix So the lower hose will get warm after a while and the coolant level won’t move, is there any advice on how to troubleshoot this vs a water pump? Just kind of in a bind and trying to exhaust my options before buying parts
Thanks G is there a sensor we need to unplug ?
Thanks! I didn't have to unplug any sensors, everything was straight forward and no electrical connection to the water pump.
How long between revving cycles?
No wait time between Rev cycles, go from one to the next immediately
What led you to replace the water pump? Mine doesn't seem to be working, but I'm not sure. I tested the thermostat in boiling water and it opens, but when I remove the top radiator hose from the radiator the coolant barely comes out. I think it might be the water pump, but I don't know.
This particular one was leaking coolant.
What was the ratio for the coolant mix?
Since I used the "Consentrate" version, I mixed 50/50 with distilled water. Zerex does also carry it pre-mixed 50/50 if you don't want to do any mixing yourself.
@@CarsYouCanFix Thanks. Ill look into it for the drain and fill. Have a 2014 CX5 GT with 435k on it. Original Mazda water pump. Guess I got lucky. 🙏🙏
@Byrd819 I just bought a 2014, Mazda 6 with the manual 6 spd. 193k and it's dry as bone underneath everywhere. It drives like new too. Drives real solid with no suspension or steering issuse. It's got plenty life left.
How many miles did you have when the Mazda started to leak?
Is this the same on the 2.0?
I haven't done one on the 2.0 yet so I can't say for sure.
@CarsYouCanFix I just did it today, yes, it's the same. Just a HUGE pain to get the pump off where it attaches to the tube
I thought mazda used blue coolant?
The FL22 coolant is now a green color. There may have been a cutoff from the blue stuff around 2016, but not 100% sure on that.
