Had my testosterone checked last year,it was 260 at 47, did some research, cleaned up my eating, started back to working out like I did in my 20's, had it checked at the first of this year (2023) 650 now.

Your test fluctuates dramatically depending on SOOO many things. lol Getting one low reading is almost meaningless. You need multiple over time to get a better idea. Everything you're doing is great and I'm sure it's boosting your test, but it likely sits higher than you think and you initially got it on a off day. O'Hearn is a pathological liar who just makes shit up as he goes.

@marc2638 It is in my mind. It's called a pituitary adenoma. I have a tumor in my head that secretes prolactin and blocks everything else. So yes, it's in my head... but not in the way you're talking about. I was 266 lbs at my heaviest and have severe sleep apnea. Until I got my cpap literally two days ago, I haven't actually slept in years. Sleep apnea CAUSES weight gain, chronic fatigue, hormone suppression, diabetes etc... and most ppl don't know they have it. I agree that a lot of ppl have to get off the couch. But sometimes, no matter how hard they try, they feel like a truck just hit them 24/7 365. These ppl (I'm one of them) need(ed) medical help. And all I did was shame myself. I used to be an athlete... wtf is wrong with me? EVERYONE should get a full body MRI every 5 years imo.

I am 45 as well and on my recent blood work my t-levels were 262 ng/dl. I have been lifting since my early 30s (took a few years off) but my t-levels have dropped every year since I started checking them 5-6 years ago. I have never done PEDs, or other drugs, and don't consume alcohol and live a pretty moderate lifestyle. I have tried all kinds of supplements to increase my test levels but nothing has ever worked. I have never tried a carnivore diet but for a person of my age I carry decent muscle mass, but I would like to get my stress levels down and try a few other supplements that I have not tried yet (DHEA) before going the TRT route.

      That’s so fascinating…what a life!
How has the experience been? What are the challenges or the differences that you have noticed in yourself versus what you observe in others?
Do you have any psychosocial differences, at least from your perspective, in the exogenous testosterone administration causing significantly less environmental response and quickly dipping or peaking as it does in a typical endocrine profile individual’s ultradian/circadian rhythms (versus the predictable and fixed rise and fall of exogenous testosterone administration over the absorption period of the ester?
Do you take other replacement hormones?
Any experiential, subjective insights or perspective that you’ve taken note of and see most people just don’t get about the role or functionality caused by exogenous versus endogenous testosterone?
Much questioning, I know, but much appreciation, too! thanks if you get to this; I have later in life damage that has meant virtually no more anterior pituitary hormones save for a few.
I’m lucky enough to have been 100% healthy and functional from an endocrinology and metabolic perspective pre my health issues a few years back and I’m just getting into the HRT phase of it all. Now I’m just wondering what is in store for me long term if I don’t eventually have success with the alternative treatments and procedures.
Thanks for sharing; I wish you the best.

Have you guys ever considered doing a show about first responders? Police, fire, EMS are notorious for a lot of things mentioned in this podcast. Sleep deprivation, long hours, high stress, diet issues, little to no recovery time. Sometimes working 48-96 hour shifts, or longer. The HRT doc I see has close to 50% of his clients that are first responders. I personally pay attention to new guys coming in the job. You can literally watch them deteriorate over the first few years of their career. I'd imagine a lot of people watching your podcasts are first responders.

    • @_JMann
      @_JMann Год назад +4

Everything in life is just a tradeoff. Those types of jobs are just not “healthy” in many ways. I respect first responders and I’ve played that role as well. Tough pill to swallow but, if you’re prioritizing health and choices which adhere as closely as possible to natures laws, you will move towards another role in society. I think it’s more optimal than trying to take exogenous substances or “hack” your physiology to make the best of it.

There are various reasons for low T in teenagers / young adults / men. One factor that is oftentimes neglected is endocrine disruptors in the diet and hypothyroidism (i.e. Hashimoto's disease or subclinical hypothyroidism). There are many ways to increase testosterone naturally. Diet, supplements and lifestyle changes can make a tremendous difference in boosting testosterone, growth hormone and hormones in general. Sleeping before 10 p.m. works wonders for your endocrine health. Including more cholesterol in your diet which is a precursor to all steroid hormones helps as well - eggs, dairy, organ meats and animal / saturated fats in general. Weightlifting, especially multi-joint exercises, such as deadlifts and squats, have been shown in various studies to increase testosterone and growth hormone levels. Tribulus Terrestris is a famous supplement that offers short-term results and doesn't address the root cause of testosterone deficiency. No one has a Tribulus deficiency. Concerning supplements, the big 3 are 1) Magnesium 2) Vitamin D 3) Zinc. Go for a magnesium formula that contains many forms of magnesium as every isoform carries unique benefits compared to others. Concerning vitamin D, go for a product that is sourced from whole foods and in liquid form to maximize absorption. Do not use more than 2,000 IU per serving because over the 2,000 IU mark there are malabsorption issues. Break the dose into 2 or 3 doses across the day, depending on when you consume a high-fat meal (vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that requires fat to be efficiently absorbed in the intestines). When it comes to zinc, use zinc picolinate 30 - 40 mg per day taken with a fat-containing meal as zinc picolinate is partially fat-soluble. A nice read on increasing T levels naturally through weightlifting, nutrition and supplements is Vintage Physique by George Kelly.

Curious about the vit D being spread throughout the day. Since it’s fat soluble shouldn’t it get stored in your fat? I’ve heard of protocols mega dosing once per week.

Mental clarity with regards to the state of your body is like an up and up or down and down. Finding your trigger to keep up and up is key and tough sometime to find. I'm on mine like a top the past month. I have to take an ice shower every day. Some times 3 times a day. It has been the charm and shiny object that is working. I took a month off from them and suffered quite a bit. My poor family too. It's not just you. It touches many and if you can up and up someone else. It helps you too. It makes sense why I want to workout now. Fasting is another key to this. That month off of ice showers, i was eating three or more times a day. It was a down and down for sure. Great info here. keep it up and up

Hey friends. The one doctor is 💯 percent correct about losing weight first.
I went on TRT when I was 35 percent body fat. I gained muscle and got libido but it did NOTHING for weight loss. I just had big arms and a gut. I want you to avoid my mistake. Get lean first. Dial in nutrition and sleep, and you might not need TRT.
Fast forward now I’m 42, in good shape, lean and added muscle not on TRT anymore as of 6 years without it. I will add that since im very lean now im feeling all the low T and my age so im considering it again. But PLEASE don’t go on TRT unless you are dialed in, lean and THEN feel you need it. He is absolutely right. You don’t need to shut down your natural levels like I did. Good luck all.

44 here. I had a doc tell me my test levels were "within normal range"... My levels were average for someone 30 years my senior and I had multiple symptoms.
Parenting (a 6yo) on TRT is better for me. I have a lot less fatigue. I'm more assertive on discipline (kid gets 1 warning, not 57).

Don't know m8. I went to my GP. I had low T because of stress in job and shitty lifestyle at that time, plus some personal problems.
She gave me 3 bottles of testo gel straight away. She said I will have to get monthly blood tests done etc.
I am into nutrition, biohacking, nootropics etc. myself.
I knew I would not go for trt, as it has to many consequences.
I change my diet completely. For first 30 days I was eating 30 eggs a day. Every second day ox liver. Rest was meat, veggies, fish and complex carbs like sweet potatoes, black rice, royal jelly etc.
Went back to training, adjusted sleeping, plus I get some specific supplements.
I sold my teso gel to get some money back.😅

It definitely can. It's not something you want to over-indulge with. Something to think about, when people smoke it leads most to over-eat, sit around and relax. It doesn't make MOST people want to do challenging things. It's a good idea to moderate HOW MUCH you smoke, maybe even not smoking at all for a good period of time. Just be mindful.

Dooming his testicles to atrophy and he will be on test for the rest of his life. Maybe that is part of the issue, we as American's keep looking for the easy way to do something rather then actually doing hard things.
