Talented man , underated and he was the Smiths for me , incredible guitar that suited Morrissey's poetry , glad he's stepped out of Morrissey's shadow and making great music again
again? check out some other post-smiths music he's been involved with. Thank me later ;-) I particularly enjoyed his guitar playing on The The's Mindbomb album for example.if your familiar with that album please forgive me.
@Sam Mills I saw him play with the Cribs. He can do any style. he had a Fender Super Reverb & Marshall JCM800 cranked and that's the side of the stage I was on. Give me both ears facing JM's amps any day of the week.
HA HA HA HA...since when was Johnny Marr, widely recognised as one of the most influential musicians of the past fifty years been underrated?! Pleas explain yourself...pronto!
I'm very new to Johnny's music, I find it comforting I discovered it the same time I moved back into my family's home only to find my sister had cancer. Only her and I n my worthless drunk younger brother were there n very few friends. She lasted 5 n a half months I took care of her till the day she's died. So many men n this Cat's Music n a Marbol will take me to the end of my street with a Smile.
Marr’s solo work is much stronger than it gets credit for. There are some real classics. This sounds like it could’ve come straight off a James album… especially the verse more so than the chorus.
Depends what you mean by relatable. Johnny was always more real, down to earth, a true musician. he certainly seems to be hitting a very fertile phase right now and his songwriting and singing seem to get better all the time. He's also found a great band that he obviously feeds off, it's there in the music. Morrissey's solo stuff came out of the traps fast and furious, but to be honest by the third album I was losing interest. He's basically a nicer person than Stephen...that goes a long way in this mean world. He's the real thing. There's a lot of The Smiths in the verses here...also reminds me of Electronic. Has a distinctly Bernard Sumner feel to the vocals.
In a gym a few nights ago, a video by this man was playing on the TVs. I stopped and recognized it as the sort of rock-pop guitar that I like. So I tried to remember his name. The first thing I did at the end of the workout, while still in the gym, was do a search on him on my phone, to find out who he was, so I could give the song my undivided attention when I got home. However, by the time I arrived home, I had forgotten. Then sometime the next day, I remembered that there was this awesome song I'd heard. I rummaged around in my memory, but I simply couldn't recall. I could remember only that it was a one-syllable last name, and that he was previously associated with some _other_ big rock name. But, like some detective, I kept trying to recover from my memory who it was. Then this. I discovered that Google keeps all of your searches, and I spent the next few hours trying to recover that search. The approximate time of the search was another clue. When his name came up, it was like I had struck gold. What fun. I've spent the last hour going from one video to the other. I love this guy. Of course, I feel like I'm the last to know. Better late than never.
Sonido muy bien cuidado, una guitarra muy definida, una voz que se mantiene joven, buen acompañamiento musical, que más se puede pedir del maestro de la guitarra de the smiths?
Wow - my computer picked up Johnny Marr at a BBC Broadcast and the sound is fantastic, band sounds great! I haven't seen them since their Roseland show last year and this is like a Gift from the Gods!!!
Big screen real life Be a part of the story Get free it's time Be a candidate The things that you wanna say They disappear into fear And they're gone then Mystery always hides in your eyes Mysteries always found in your eyes Now the moments come And the story goes on When you're feeling young And you just want fun Get in the picture come on Now turn the future on us Get free it's time To be somebody's story Be free it's time Be a candidate Pictures don't only fade They reappear into view If you want them Visions, they always flashed In your eyes And the moments come Just let the story go on And the future return Now you just want fun Get in the picture belong And you think so young Let the feeling come Get in the story, come on Now turn the future on us
This song just sadly reminds me of when I used walk around my community college campus wishing for a better life than I had at the time. I haven't been in school in three years and I am very lost and getting bashed everywhere
theplourde pull your fucking socks up then! Stop moaning, stop whinging and get on with your fucking life. You're probably way better off than millions of others out there.
Just now really discovering his work-the best find in years
Marshall Lancaster totally agree Marshall...I stumbled upon Johnny 6 months ago and just can’t get enough....a guitar genius
Exactly the same feeling here in 2022. As a child of the '80s, I'm sad and embarrassed that I'm so late. So much great solo stuff!

What VAC88 said, done some unreal work with other bands. Personally love his work with Kirsty MacColl and The Cribs

Johnny Marr legend in my opinion 👌
Incredibly underrated music
He isn't underrated, he is officially THE greatest guitar hero of all time for anybody who has any sense and taste, so all is well

What the hell is wrong with the music companies ???
Why is this person not a superstar today?
'There's nothing wrong with feeling so young.'
Love how he slips this line in when playing it live!
I saw johnny Marr with The Killer's in Nashville, I feel like I might have underpaid. Johnny Marr was so good!

Big screen real life
Be a part of the story
Get free it's time
Be a candidate
The things that you wanna say
They disappear into fear
And they're gone then
Mystery always hides in your eyes
Mysteries always found in your eyes
Now the moments come
And the story goes on
When you're feeling young
And you just want fun
Get in the picture come on
Now turn the future on us
Get free it's time
To be somebody's story
Be free it's time
Be a candidate
Pictures don't only fade
They reappear into view
If you want them
Visions, they always flashed
In your eyes
And the moments come
Just let the story go on
And the future return
Now you just want fun
Get in the picture belong
And you think so young
Let the feeling come
Get in the story, come on
Now turn the future on us
Legend

I’m sorry to hear. It’s 4 yrs later.., I hope you’re doing ok.
You get a glimpse of Johnny's offspring in this video.
Pretty decent, probably will grow on me like Upstarts/New Town Velocity did.
¡ Johnny Marr si rifa, mas que Morrissey !
