- Today we are going to check how to warp text into different shapes with envelope distort using Adobe Illustrator CC. One of the things I really love about Illustrator is how easy it is to work with and transform text into different shapes.

Just reduce the playback speed to 0.75. ...Perfect and easy to follow. The band sounds like it's falling asleep but still good enough to listen to because I'm half asleep anyway 😉

I cant envelope distort the last text "BROWN PALE ALE PILSNER GERMAN" . It says that "This requires a selection of multiple objects. The top object must be a single path or mesh, or a symbol containing a single path or mesh."

I think the problem is that your top object is a clip group, rather than a single path . Check the layer of shape . else check this forum discussing same issue

Hello, Can you please explain the bit from 2:15 to 2:25 (when I'm trying to do my 3 strokes are combining to one stroke - Minus front in pathfinder is not working for me) Please help
Its basically 3 separate strokes > make path to shape > select all 3 lines ans the ball shape and use the path finder

every time I choose "make it with top object" it says "this path requires a selection of multiple objects. The top object must be a single path or mesh, or a symbol containing a single path or mesh" :(

Basically the shape need to be arrange on top and text below . I suggest you to try first with simple object and see if that work .
Seems its little difficult to say any without see what you doing . any way to send a screenshot ?
Select the object, right click, then press on ''arrange'', ''send to front''
you should provide the information of fonts being used and colour as well.
Font I use is IMPACT . Can use any bold font .

I need a little bit of help with the text how are you making the text closer
You can adjust text tracking( horizontal) and kerning (vertical) in character tab .

How do you ungroup? I can't find that pathfinder window. I only have the option to group together after making the curve
Could you please write the time of video you talking about ? it will help to understand which portion.
Path finder in illustrator you can find at:
Window > Pathfinder or hitting Shift + Ctrl (Command) + F9.

Sorry mew in adobe. Im stuck on pathfinder. How do you put outline to separate the square to the circle i follow it it seems on you video its easy but mine says ( no filter produce something) alert
Could you make shape Object > Expand appearance . after that try path finder .

you mean on the video timeline 1:09 right ? make a copy of circle and scale it . then pathfinder with scaled circle and rectangle . hope it helps .

I'd like to design the Envelope Mesh first (a waving flag), then drop a flat design on it (a flat version of a flag). Is this possible, perhaps by using the Symbol tool?
May I know what you are trying to achieve ?
If trying to make a vector flag , then you can do it with envelop mesh right?
@@dumdumknowhow I am trying to make many flags, with only having to do the envelope mesh one time. (Because the folds are pretty complex and would be time-consuming to do over and over--and I wouldn't be able to do them precisely the same each time.)
@Philip Nice without see , hard to say any thing . but so far i understand you are making flags . also need all in same shape .
in that case , I think better draw a wavy shape and extrude it in illustrator 3d . then map the flag .

@@dumdumknowhow Thanks. That video, like others, starts with making the flat design of the flag and then distorting it to make the folds. So when you want to make the next flag, you have to start with the flat design (which is easy) and redo all the distortion/folds all over again (which is time-consuming). Same thing when you want to make the next flag and the next. But if I could save a file that just has the distortion and folds (and not the actual flat design), then I could take any flat design and put it on that distortion/folds layer and instantly have a new, complete design. I'm basically trying to achieve in Illustrator what is often called a "mockup" in Photoshop: ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=photoshop+mockup
@@philipnice1817 Yes the video I share is almost like a mockup. you can replace the flags in the 3d flag shape. so the result will be same .

Are you able to do this for a design of my own? Or anyone for that matter as I only have iPad version of Adobe Illustrator and this function is not available. Or if anyone knows another iPad or online app to do this on??

@ samir mohammed , sorry , some said its lagging when slow down . it's depends on proficiency . so hard to cater every one .
But I suggest you to play in slow speed which ever portion you need to focus. hope that helps .

Why don’t you carefully explain what it is you’re doing. Really hard to follow.
its very simple step . select shape need to wrap and text . then go to object menu > Envelop Distort > Make With Top Object.
